"Merry Christmas," you said softly, leaning over Gabe's empty chair. Your brother was across the room, giving a small, neatly wrapped present to another studenmeantime mean time, you had gotten a leash on the worst of your anxiety and had finally plucked up the courage to give Lui his present.

"You got me?" Lui tilted his head curiously, eyeing the dark blue packaging and the small silver sticky ribbon you'd placed in the corner.

"I did," you replied with a small smile, accepting and choosing to ignore the tiny blush on your cheeks. "Hope you like it."

"I will," Lui said simply. He plucked the bow off and turned the box over carefully, making you feel all warm inside at the attention and care he was showing the gift you'd gotten for him. ,In the end you had needled Gabe for ideas and eventually dragged him along to the shops where you'd finally made a purchase. Lui's finger caught on the seam and lifted it up, pulling away the tape to reveal the box underneath. He flipped it back around and you heard his sharp inhale when he saw it.

"Thank you."

Your heart leapt in your chest.

It was a launcher, nothing more. Really it was a no brainer when you considered the fact that he wasof member on the school team and one of the best Bladers in Japan. You'd gone for one that wasn't exactly expensive, but according to your brother  was of a much better quality and lasted a lot longer than most of the other launchers out there. Attached to the box with a small piece of sticky tape was a blue candy cane.

"It's nothing," you shrugged modestly. "I wasn't sure what one to get so I got some help from Gabe."

"I figured," he teased you gently. Then, much to your surprise, he got something out of his own bag and gave it to you.

"What's this?" You wondered, looking at it with disbelief. You'd already gotten your present from the person who had drawn your name, so why Lui was getting you a present was well beyond the realms of your comprehension.

"A thank you for the other day," Lui replied. "And I was getting Gabe something anyway, it would have been rude to not get you something too."

"If you really didn't want to get breakfast with me, you could've just said." You prerolled to role your eyes. You'd honestly meant it as a joke when you'd said it, but you wanted to see how Lui would react.

Surprising you once more, Lui blushed faintly.

"I was going to ask you about that," he mumbled.

"Wait seriously?"

"There's a really good place not too far from where I live," Lui continued as though he hadn't heard you. His eyes kept darting from place to place, landing anywhere but your's. His cheeks were red now. Not so much as a blush, but a genuine shade of red that heartbeatheart beat just that little bit faster.

"I thought maybe we coul go there, if you wanted."

"I'd love that," you grinned, loving the way that his eyes widened and he finally faced you incredulously. "Let me give you my number so we can figure out a time and a date."

Before Lui could reply, though you were pretty sure you'd managed to render him speechless, or before you could begin to second guess yourself, you wrote down your phone number on a spare pagnotebook note book and tore it out, handing it to him. Lui stared at it. To break up any awkwardness you might have inadvertently caused, you decided to open your own present and gave a gentle gasp at what you saw.

A simple leather bracelet that looked like it had been tightly woven, with a silver clasp on the end. It was a charm bracelet, which you could tell by the single charm already threaded onto the leather cord. You couldn't help it, you laughed.

It was a tiny silver bottle.

"I love it," you declared, taking it out of the box and wasting no time in clasping it around your wrist. "It's perfect."

"I wasn't too sure about the bottle," Lui admitted.

"People are going to think you're an alcoholic," Gabe chimed in, sitting down in between you and completely ruining the moment. "What are we talking about?"

"Says the guy who got drunk." You whispered under your breath.

"Lui was too," Gabe protested.

"At least I could clean up afterwards," Lui argued.

"It's not like I had to pick Lui up at three in the morning." You said straight after.

Gabe pouted. Or it was as close to pouting as he had ever gotten. "I can't believe you two just ganged up on me."

"Shut it Sleeping Beauty," both you and Lui hissed in unison. Catching each other's eye and looking away immediately after.

"God, what's it going to be like when the two of you are finally dating?" Gabe said under his breath, so quietly that you almost missed it. You weren't sure who it was meant for or if Lui had heard it, but just to be sure, you stomped on your brother's foot. Hard.

He made a sort of 'eep' sound, and for some funny reason, you got the feeling that Lui had if fact overheard Gabe's little comment, and that he had gone and done the exact same thing.

Totally irrelevant side note:

IT'S RAINING!! AN ACTUAL PROPER STORM!
We haven't had proper rain where I live in months, obviously considering all of these freaking fires the lighting isn't good, but the rain is amazing. Fun fact, where I live was literally the 'hottest place on Earth' the other day.
