Growing up with Tonks around was always an interesting time.

She would be eccentric and hyper for one moment and then completely calm the next.

She knew how to be a friend, a sister and someone who would listen when you needed it without judging.

Whenever you needed Tonks, she would magically appear and whilst she was a witch, she didn't have the ability to detect when you were upset.

Tonks was better off as your sister rather than a friend, even though no one ever quite understood your friendship as it tended to get quite crazy at times.

It all changed when she met Remus, however.

Remus was a man you respected, admired and cared about – but then Tonks became involved with him, and suddenly she wasn't so bothered about you anymore.

She was still there if you needed her, but only if Remus didn't need her.

You understood of course, a relationship is important and if you love the person then they are your priority but it still managed to sting.

Despite feeling the way that you did, you had decided against even mentioning it to Tonks as she was your best friend and you only wished for her to be happy.

It wasn't until you stayed with Remus and Tonks, that your best friend actually realised there was something not quite right.

She came into the guest room, where you had been sleeping, to find you reading a book and lost in your own world.

"Knock knock." She said as she knocked on the door frame.

You turned to face her, being snapped out of your thoughts.

"Why is it that you've avoided a long conversation with me ever since you got here?"

Not wanting to give your actual answer, you opted for a simple shrug instead.

She sighed, sitting cross-legged on your bed and crossing her arms; the signal meaning she wasn't moving until you spilled.

"It's nothing Tonks, really, I just haven't been feeling well," you attempted an explanation.

She scoffed, shaking her head, "I know you better than that Y/N," she reminded you with a slight smirk.

"Okay," you breathed out, "I love you Tonks, and you know that. But ever since Remus and you became a thing, it has felt as if you've been pushing me out and I don't blame you y'know? How could I? You're in love and that's totally fine, because I've always been here and I always will be so Remus is your priority."

She looked shocked at your words, for one being somewhat speechless.

"I think Remus is great, really I do. He is totally perfect for you and I am so happy to see you happy so please don't think this is me not liking your boyfriend."

Without saying anything, she then pulled you into a tight hug.

She continued hugging you and you decided against saying anything else.

You had said what had been pent up inside you, and with it out, you felt a whole much better.
