returning from spring break was messy. not because of the crowds, but because of the club leaders frantically making conversations with students entering to get them to join their club. sung hyeseong didn't mind conversation, only until the other person realized she couldn't keep one in the first place.

she couldn't hear, indifferent to the noise.

and she tried to stay behind students when she did look at clubs' stands, wanting to see what it was all about. she kept her headphones plugged in her ears, creating the illusion that she had an excuse to not be able to hear nor entertain another person. she was fascinated by the different stands,

tennis, music, archery..

music would've been a great choice if she knew how to play an instrument because at least she wouldn't have to speak. then again, hearing would be her downfall.. perhaps she should avoid music for another year again.

then, hyeseong stumbled along one of the more less popular stands with only a selective students going up to it. one of them, modelling. she's seen the costs for that club though and it sends a shiver down her spine just thinking about it. next to it, however, was the student council stand as hyeseong walked closer and closer to get a better look.

she stood behind a few taller guys who seemed to be talking to the leaders as she glanced around the decorations put up to promote the council. she's not that familiar with the club, but she knows they're in charge of almost everything school related anyways.

though, she did know two things about the club.

one of them was the boy smiling at her as she noticed late that her cover was long gone and she was now the only student standing there. his lips were moving, but hyeseong could only stare at him confused. lost. she knew who he was though, he was the co-president of the council, sung hanbin.

she could've sworn he had a dating rumor last year too..

then, not a moment later, another boy slightly taller than hanbin was now staring at hyeseong with wide eyes. she looked up at him as well, but the boy didn't speak. instead, he started looking around for something, asking hanbin for help it seemed as hanbin was confused watching him.

he was looking for a pen and paper, it seems.

"interested?"

was written on the paper in big letters while he held up the sign with a nervous yet smiley look. hyeseong figured as much that park gunwook would've known about her hearing problem, they were in the same class after all. though, she can't really recall one time they've spoken to another..

that was besides the point, but before hyeseong could shake her head in reply, she noticed gunwook turning the sign over to write more.

"in student council?"

was scribbled hurriedly at the bottom of interested as hyeseong smiled, now shaking her head in reply. hanbin was just watching the silent conversation take place at the side, glancing between the two of them with a smile on his face. the girl watched gunwook flip the paper over, writing one more thing on it before showing it to her once more.

"that's okay!"

with smiley faces and a poorly drawn thumbs up right next to it as hyeseong could only smile back in return. gunwook laughed, keeping the sign up before noticing another student approach the stand as he waved at her. when he tended to the student, hyeseong only bowed to hanbin before waving as well to leave the stand to head to class.

yet, something about the two.. felt strange.

she had a feeling this wasn't going to be the last time she'll see them. or perhaps.. maybe this wasn't even the first time she's seen them before?
