Natsu had a mental itch, that he couldn't place. Like having information on the tip of your tongue but you just can't get it? 

It was about Gray, there was something, something about him that he couldn't place. No, it wasn't the fact that he always looks up to the left when he lies or the fact that he goes into a  more defensive stance when someone asks him something.

No, It was like, Gray was fearless, and that was the thing that was bugging Natsu. Nobody can be fearless. He's gotta be afraid of something. He could just ask, but no, he wanted to scour the internet and speculate before asking. Natsu did feel a little bad, He knew he hadn't shared fears or Phobias with him, so did doing this make him a hypocrite? 

Natsu was surprised that a, there were so many weird and Bizzare fears on the internet. Well, it was the internet. Apparently, there were phobias of feet, beards, animals, colors, and yes, fears of phobias.

It was about as likely that Gray had cryophobia, fears relating to cold, ice, and freezing, that Natsu had pyrophobia, A fear of fire.  Natsu loved fire, and he was like 90% sure Gray wasn't afraid of his own magic either.

Natsu had picked out a few that Gray might have, now was the time to ask.

 "Hey, Gray?" Natsu ran down the stairs, jumping off the last two.

Gray was reading a book on the couch lying down, "Mm?" 

"Do you have any phobias or irrational fears?" Natsu sat on the armrest above Gray's head and looked down to see a mildly surprised face.

"Umm, psh, no," Gray's eyes darted to left.

"Liar," Natsu plucked the book out of Gray's hands and read the title of the novel.

A study in scarlet, a classic, also, a book Natsu has read.

Natsu handed the book back to Gray, "That's a good book."

"You? Read a book?" Gray almost laughed.

"Yes, a few, shut up," Natsu crossed his arms huffing.

"Okay, okay. I guess that makes some sense, the book is yours after all," Gray pursed his lips together in a smile to stop himself from laughing, "I didn't know you liked Sherlock Holmes."

"Yea, well, I do. Don't tell people, I will never hear the end of it," Natsu groaned, "Where are you in the book?"

"Rachel or revenge in German part," Gray dog-eared the page he was on, then thrust the book closed with a snap.

"That was unnecessarily dramatic. Also, you're a terrible liar," Natsu commented upon Gray's snapping the book shut.

"How do you always know?" Gray groaned putting his forehead down on Natsu's shoulder.

"Magic, so are you gonna tell me or not?" Natsu laughed.

Gray was reminded of the video of him at the dentist, he snapped his head up blushing.

"Dude, your gonna get whiplash or snap your neck. As amazing as Wendy is at healing,  I'm not sure if she can cure death," Natsu said concerned.

"I'm fine," Gray said rather cold.  I cannot show weakness, and I can't show my love.

"Harsh," Natsu rolled his eyes, 'Also you said that out loud, what do you mean?"

Gray froze up, "I said it out loud?" 

"Yes, you said 'I cannot show weakness, and I can't show my love.' What's up with that?"  Natsu frowned, "You know your not a robot, you can talk to me."

"Just drop it," Gray glared.

"OKAY, Jeez. Fine," Natsu grumbled and went into the kitchen looking for a tomato.

 "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be mean." Gray kept his eyes glued to the floor.

"No, It's okay. You don't have to talk about stuff you don't want to."Natsu's voice held a bitter undertone. 

"I have Coulrophobia, a phobia of clowns," Gray blurted out.

"That wasn't- Wow, didn't expect that. Why clowns though?" Natsu hugged Gray's waist like the bottom he is. (If u is a Natsu tops person, you do you boo.) 

"THIER CREEPY AND THIER UGLY ASS MAKEUP maKE S THEM LOOk LIKE PERVERTS, PLUS WHEN THEY SMILE ITS LIKE THIER GOING To EAT YOUR SOUL AND PICK YOUR HAIR OUt OF tHIER CRUSTY YELLOW TEETH! THIER OUTFITS ARE AN ATROCITY AND SHOULD BE BURNED-" 

"Agree with you there. Keep going," Natsu interrupted.

" WHEN THEY GIVE OUT BALLooNS ITS MAKES ME FEEL LIKE IT CONTAINS THE SOULS OF THE CHILDREN HE MURDERED IN HIS HOME! THIER CREEPY ASS MUSIC CAN GO FUCK ITSELF AND WHAT KIND OF BLACK MAGIC DO THEY USE TO FIT INTO TINY UGLY CARS? AND WHEN THIER TOGETHER ITS LIKE A CULT OF CREEPY, WITH sTUPID PRanKS AND WHATEVER DEMON THEY WORSHIP-"

"Thier paychecks are what they worship.. Go on," Natsu was smirking now, he had no idea why but Gray going off on clowns like this was endearing.

"DONT GET ME STARTED ON THIER HAIR AND LAUGHS WHEN THEY LAUGH, A CHILD DIES, TEH CHILDREN THAT RuN AWAY FROM CLOWNS CAN SEE THE CLEAR MURDER IN THIER EYES!! THIER HAIR IS LIKE CRUSTY AND STUFF anD IM FAIRLY SURE THERES BLOOD anD GUTS IN THIER HAIR! THIER NOSES ARE TOO BIG AND RED, NOSES SHOULD Not BE RED!! THIER TEETH, I MENTIONED TEETH RIGHT?  HATS, THIER HATS ARE DUMB UGLY AND STUPID! UNpRaCTICLa tOO!  THIER TOUNGES ARE TOO LONG AND THEY LOOK BLOOD STAINED, LIKE THIER GOING TO BITE YOUR HEART OUt AND LICK IT CLEAN! AND thEN THEY LIKE BATHE IN YOUR BLOOD, AND LIKE SELL YOUR ORGANS to THE BLACK MARKET, Clown market? AnD MAKE ILLEgAl MOney OFF SELLING YOUR DEaD BoDY FOR WHatEVER WEIRD SHIT THEY DO! THIER EYES ARE PORTaLS To HELL, NATSU!"

"Wow, okay, That is all totally accurate." Natsu opened his arms for a hug, Gray hugged him.

"Yea," Gray was calming down.

"Guess I shouldn't watch IT with you," Natsu teased.

"DONT YOU DARE!"

"Chill, I won't. I'm not that mean." 

"Well, do you have any fears?" Gray asked.

"Yea, Whatever you call the fear of being secretly hated is called. Also, spiders, those are tiny demons," Natsu shivered.

"Oh, welp, guess that means I kill the spiders, huh?" Gray patted Natsu's head.

"I can kill spiders, I just do it screaming and almost burn the house down." Natsu smiled, "But, you doing it is easier and safer."

"Yea, you're safe with me!" Gray boasted jokingly, laughing.

Natsu laughed and pulled his scarf over his tomato face.

"Natsu?"

"Wha?"

"You are my favorite person, ya know," Gray smiled and hugged him.

"Rfgapiefjfedelkklcr, Th-Thanks. You're my fav-favorite too!" Natsu hugged back.
