Something lurks you feel it near.

You stop and look around listen but only hear the pound of your heart.

Silence surrounds you closing in.

Cold chills run down your spine.

You strain to hear what's there.

You feel it watching but darkness is only there.

You mind screams warning to beware.

Cloaked in darkness it watches and tastes your fear.

Growing stronger, watching, waiting, year after year.

Something lurks you feel it near.

Why is it here? From where does it come?

Coldness seeps under your skin, to the bone.

You rush past in the darkness to ease away the fears.

Unknown sounds echo in your ears.

This that lurks feeds from your fears.

Something lurks you feel it near.

It will return tomorrow when darkness is here.

Close your eyes try not to hear.

Never look into the dark for something surely lurks there.

Watching with its menacing stare.

Turn on the lights and drift off to sleep.

He watches and waits for your soul to keep.
