layla's family have long been the best vampire hunters around, and she is no different. her american father, charles greymond, carries down this bloodline to her and is raising her to be one of the strongest vampire hunters. her british mother, olivia greymond, married her father and had a child with him knowing she would be raised to be a vampire slayer. they have both put immense pressure on layla to be as skilled, smart, clever, and strong as her ancestors before her, and she carries this pressure on herself as well. layla also has a little sister, caroline, but she is a baby.

layla has many characters she can take on. when she is not herself, she is usually charlotte, who is naïve, ignorant, and innocent. she couldn't harm a fly and is caring towards her friends or those close to her. she is fairly honest as well, to the extent that she can be while undercover. she knows that being as real as possible will make her more believable. so her friendships are usually genuine and stories she may tell of her friends or family are as honest as they can be. this is also how she doesn't loose herself to becoming a character. she seems very open and genuine even though, while some of it may be real, it's mostly a façade.
that being said, while natural layla is different, it's not two complete opposite sides of a coin. layla's very honest and cares deeply for her friends and family. but she is no where near as ignorant as she seems. she can solve most problems she finds herself in and has a very keen sense of logic. she keeps herself very informed of any important information and is very witty and knowledgeable. she is already a good vampire hunter but works everyday to improve herself. she is also physically quite strong since she has been training from such a young age.
despite all this strength and dignity she carries, she is terrified of messing up. she knows she has to keep up family tradition and doesn't want to disappoint her parents, or herself. she is worried she'll get too involved with the school, with someone, or that she'll get distracted. but she doesn't let her fears show as charlotte, who just needs to be perfect.
