Wei stared at him with wide eyes, what did he say?
"I'm not quitting, you can't seriously..."

Yunlan tried to lower his voice, only half-succeeding. "I can, and you will, I don't want you around those people."

Wei was irritated now. "You can't tell me what to do! I can't quit."

"But you must!" Yunlan shouted again. "I feel sick thinking of how he treats you, people should bow in front of you and yet he dares..."

Yunlan crashed the empty can on the table to let out his frustration, and Wei felt something tugging at his heart. He really loves me, he thought, and moved closer.

He spoke with a soft voice now, caressing Yunlan's cheek with one hand and burying the other one in his hair. "He calls me boy but that's it, he doesn't mistreat me, it's not like he beats me or anything. I'm not his slave. Yes he orders me around, he's my boss, but I'm not his property. How many people have ordered you around before you got where you are now?"

Yunlan closed his eyes at the feeling of Wei's hands.
"But he's so rude to you..." he protested.

"Yes he's rude, he's always rude to anyone not just me, and he can be annoying, but he's really not a bad person! How many people have an annoying boss? My situation is really not that different from that of many other people after all."

"But you are!" Yunlan exclaimed taking his hand and kissing it. "You're different from anyone else in the world, I love you so much it hurts me to think that you're not ok."

Wei lowered himself enough to kiss him tenderly. "But I am ok, I have you, it's all that matters to me."

Wei sat on Yunlan's lap to better kiss him, and they kept kissing between one "I love you" and the other, Yunlan just couldn't stop saying it, then they left for the bedroom where they sweetly made love all night.

The alarm clock woke them up. It was earlier than usual but Wei had to get ready to go to work.
Yunlan watched him with a weird look on his face. He had a slight hangover, and he was having a hard time letting Wei go knowing that he would probably spend the whole day with 'that girl'.

Wei was out the door before he could clear his head, but he quickly got ready to leave soon after.

Wei thought of Yunlan's behaviour, he felt warm by how much he loved him but he was worried that he might have a drinking problem. He scolded himself, just because he didn't drink he thought that anyone who drank more than one glass had a problem, it had only been one night after all, it wasn't like he got drunk every time. And yet, his worry didn't disappear when he thought back at Yunlan's kitchen, he barely had any food in there but his fridge was always full of beer... 'that's because he orders delivery,' he told himself, 'he simply got jealous because he loves me.' He smiled and got out of the bus.

He helped miss Zhu into the car and drove her to their first stop, a nice place where she insisted he had breakfast with her.

It might be his imagination, but she wasn't as arrogant as she was at first, either she changed her attitude or he still felt grateful after she saved his job.

He drove her to a friend's house where he refused to intrude and waited for her in the car. When she came back she apologised for making him wait all morning, she said she hadn't seen her friend in so long that she just couldn't get out sooner without offending her.

As an apology she insisted they dined together; he might be tempted by the prospect of a free meal, but he also felt embarrassed.
"It's not appropriate, miss Zhu, I'm just the driver and you..."

"Please call me Hong," she said. "I don't care about appropriate, I feel safe with you, you've always been so polite and kind to me, I feel comfortable in your presence."

He was left with no other choice but to agree. "If you insist, miss Hong," he said, and she smiled.

The afternoon was spent shopping. He had always thought that rich people would just enter a shop, point a finger, hand their credit card and walk out in ten minutes time, but that wasn't the case with her. She liked to take her time, and the whole afternoon was spent in just one shop.

She liked to look at everything, therefore she refused the personnel help. She didn't want someone to stick to her the whole time, she liked to move freely and Wei was there to help her if she needed anything, like for example if she wanted something that was placed too high for her to reach or if she tried something on and needed a different size.

All in all Wei found himself rather liking it, it felt more like helping out a sister rather than work, and the day passed by quickly. She bought a jacket and two shirts, despite all the things she had tried on she didn't buy anything else.
He was ready to carry those things for her, thinking it was time to pay and leave, when she pulled him to the men section of the store.

"Miss Hong, do you need anything else?" he asked, wondering if she wanted to buy something for her father.

"Choose something," she said, surprising him.

"What? I can't..."

"Choose something," she repeated, and added, "please, I want to give you something but I have no idea what you might like, and I want you to like it."

Completely taken aback, he tried to refuse but once again she insisted. "Please. In case you haven't noticed I don't have many friends, well I have a dear one but we rarely see each other, it's a miracle she could spare a whole morning for me today, she always has a very busy schedule."
She laughed awkwardly and went on, "We barely ever spend time together and we communicate mostly through texts, and maybe that's why she still bears with me; I inherited a certain attitude from my father, and sooner or later everybody leaves, unable to bear with me anymore. But you..."

Wei was feeling rather embarrassed, and a little sorry for her too, but he was there simply to do his job.

"I know you work for my father" she said as if reading his mind. "I know you're doing your job and we aren't friends, but you've been kind to me, I had so much fun today, and you went back and forth all afternoon getting stuff for me, not once looking at me as if I was a useless spoiled brat."

She laughed saying, "You even told me that they had made a mistake with the sizes when I had to try on a bigger skirt! It was such a silly lie but it was sweet."

Wei blushed, he had said that because she had looked sad when she couldn't wear that skirt, as if that meant that she was too fat. He wasn't an expert, but she certainly didn't look fat to him, she looked beautiful and he had wanted to cheer her up without going too far and risk crossing the employer-employee line.

"Let me give you something," she went on, "as a thank you for the loveliest day I've had in a long time."

Since she put it like that, it seemed rude to refuse, but he compromised refusing the most expensive things, like the suit she first suggested.

Suddenly he had a thought, this could be his chance to finally be able to give Yunlan a nice gift! He chose a blue shirt and went to try it on. He saw that it was right his size, so he went back and told her that he needed one two sizes bigger.

She looked surprised.
"Are you sure?" she asked, taking the shirt and placing it on his figure to look at it herself.

"Yes I'm sure," he said, thinking of Yunlan's broad shoulders and muscular arms.

She looked doubtful, she knew about clothes and that shirt looked perfect to her, but it was a gift after all, and she was trying to be nice, so she didn't say anything and bought for him what he wanted.

Wei took the little bag thanking her, he wouldn't have been able to buy such a high-class shirt and he was sure that Yunlan would look so good in it.

Wei really couldn't wait to see Yunlan's face when he would give him his gift.
