"Ow!" Aqualight gasped. The cats beside her looked at her. Bluegaze hurried from the medicine den and meowed, "It's her kits. They're coming." Aqualight gasped in pain. Her mate, Reedsong, ran towards her, holding a piece of stick in his jaws. "Here," Reedsong meowed. "Bite on this. Bite this if you are in pain." Aqualight once had to remind herself that Reedsong was Bluegaze's sister, and have learnt some basic remedies from her. 

Aqualight bit hard on the stick. The stick was smashed into splinters. Reedsong gave her another one and licked the tiny kit. "The first one's out," Reedsong whispered. A spasm passed Aqualight, and the stick was smashed to splinters again. A second kit wriggled out. "Lick it-" Aqualight meowed but was cut off with a yelp. A third wet bundle tumbled out, but it wasn't moving or crying. It was just there, very still. Bluegaze meowed, "Two she kits and one tom! Congra-..." Her voice trailed off as she saw the third tom kit. It was just like his mother, but he was white was light blue-grey patches. Aqualight kept on licking the kit over and over again, but nothing happened. Aqualight didn't give up hope and continued to lick the kit. After what it seemed like moons, the kits stirred and let out a loud wail. Aqualight and Reedsong were delighted, and the three kits scooted to their mother's belly to suckle. 

"What should we name them?" Aqualight asked. Reedsong smiled, "You decide." Aqualight thought for a moment and meowed, "Petalkit for the tortoiseshell, Featherkit for the yellow tabby, and Waterkit for the tom kit, he looks like me." Reedsong purred, "Those are wonderful names." Aqualight smiled and drifted off to sleep.

"Aqualight," a voice meowed. "Aqualight." The light blue-gray queen looked around. "Where am I? Who are you? What do you want?" She asked. "I am Ivyflower. " The voice meowed. "Ivyflower!" She gasped in surprise! "I missed you!" Ivyflower meowed, "I missed you too." Aqualight asked, "What do you want from me?" Ivyflower meowed softly, "You must kill the tom kit." Aqualight growled, "Why? He's my son. No cat is to hurt him." Ivyflower meowed, "You must." Aqualight snarled, "Never. Goodbye Ivyflower." Then, she stormed away.

She woke up. And let out a sigh. Why did StarClan must have to make her do this? Sigh. She looked at her little tom kit fondly. She was going to make sure that nothing bad in the world could happen to him.
