"So you have come again," Shadeheart meowed calmly, though there was menace in his icy calm voice that Brokenkit didn't hear. Brokenkit smiled, "So what are we learning today?" Shadeheart meowed, "Today, we will be meeting your Clanmates." Brokenkit tilted his head to one side. "We will be meeting the cats here." Shadeheart quickly explained. "Let's go." Brokenkit followed him.

"Who's there?" A gruff snarl sounded. Shadeheart narrowed his eyes and unsheathed his claws at the ginger cat. "Oh, it's only you Shadeheart." He dipped his head respectfully. Brokenkit eyed the tom warily. "That's Alderclaw. He is new but not as new as you." Shadeheart meowed. Brokenkit gulped. Shadeheart continued to walk. "Let all cats gather beneath this rock for a meeting!" Shadeheart yowled. Brokenkit sat beside him, trying hard to not tremble and show his fear. "This is Brokenkit, our new Clanmate!" The cats yowled their happiness. A gray tabby tom slid between the cats and meowed, "Are you sure Shadeheart?" Shadeheart replied, "Yes Jayscar." Jayscar only narrowed his eyes. A silver she-cat with one blue, one amber eye meowed, "Don't make us do it again." She snarled, her eyes cold.  "Let's train." She yowled then disappeared into the darkness. Brokenkit went up to a cat that was about his size. "Hi," he meowed. The she-cat hissed, "Get out of my way!" Brokenkit backed away. "I'm so-sorry..." He stammered. The she-cat only scowled at him. "I'm Shinepaw, a new apprentice of DawnClan. Remember to stay out of my way." Brokenkit flinched. "Let's train." A white tom with ragged fur growled to him and Shinepaw. Shinepaw narrowed her eyes in interest. "This will be finally my time to let the apprentices see that I am not the weakest!" She purred. The white tom meowed, "I am Snowstone." He had a strange glint in his eyes as he looked at the two cats. "Are you afraid?" "No!" Shinepaw replied loudly. Brokenkit flattened his ears and looked defiant at the thought of standing up to his sisters. Shadeheart padded over and purred, "Good. Come back tomorrow. We were just..." He chuckled. "Just testing you..." Brokenkit opened his mouth to say something, but he was already back in his nest.

Petalpaw and Featherpaw came over and meowed, "You stink!" They wrinkled their noses. "You better go wash in the lake." Featherpaw sneered, "Oh yes, you're not an apprentice yet." Petalpaw mocked, "Go wash in the little pool of the medicine den then, oh, and don't drown!" They laughed then they headed to their mentors. Brokenkit sighed. When is his miserable everyday life end?
