"Sab rakh liya tha na? I mean check kar liya ticket and all?" He asked and she nodded without looking at him.

"Apna dhayan rakhna. Aur wahan pahunchte hi phone kar dena" he said to which she nodded again.

Seeing her not speaking and looking at him, he sighed and spoke again, "Aur agar kabhi bhi lage that you need something or someone, I'm just one call away. Hmm?" There was great heaviness in his voice and again she said nothing but nodded.

She was deliberately avoiding looking at him. Because she didn't have the courage to look into his eyes. Those deep eyes that express his unsaid feelings, always bother her, always makes her feel that she is doing wrong, with him.

It has been three years since she came to Chandigarh for studies and now after completing her course, she is going back to her hometown, Kapurthala.

A lot of things have changed in these three years. She still remember how they both used to fight with each other in the beginning as there were many differences between them. Their views mostly did not match and his rude behaviour and harshness always ended up hurting her.

But at the same time, whenever she had a problem, he was the first, who helped her and whenever she needed someone, he was always there for her.

Time passed, they started understanding each other and became friends, very good friends. With each passing day, they started to learn more about each other. They talked a lot about each other's past experiences. From where he came to know about her equation with her father and she got to know about his breakup.

Their friendship grew deeper day by day. She always sees a best friend and best person in him. But for him, she is more than a friend. And she is aware of his feelings for her.

Two months ago, when he expressed his feelings to her, she was very surprised to hear all this from him as she didn't expect it. And also, she has always treat him as a friend only, she never thought about love.

Only she knows how she felt that day when she broke his heart by saying no. Also she was hoping that this would not affect their friendship. But deep down she knew that their friendship would not be the same.

And her instincts were right. After that, everything turned so awkward between them that both are unable to talk properly. They are not even able to meet their eyes with each other.

She always blamed herself that she has spoiled everything. But what should she do if she doesn't feel the same. And thinking all these things, her heart and mind always gets confused.

And now they are at the railway station because she is going back to her hometown because her father requested her to come back. From the day he realizes how wrong he was and how much he has done wrong with his daughter, he is regretting. He even came to meet her to apologize. But she, being gem of a person, didn't let him apologize, saying that it was not his fault, it's all because of the circumstances.

She was happy that she is going back home, her father accepted her, but at the same time she was sad because she is badly going to miss this city, SIAC, her Astha Mam, who is now happily living with her husband Shaan and most importantly, she is going to miss her best friend, Shaurya with whom she is now afraid to meet her eyes.

She came out of her trance when the train announcement was made. An unknown fear crept over her and her heart started racing which made her look at him immediately who was already looking at her.

Sighing deeply, he prepared himself with a heavy heart to say goodbye to her.

"Bye" he said, in almost a whisper with a small smile.

She smiled sadly seeing the way he was masking his emotions. Before she could open her mouth, he turned other side as her eyes were weakening him, as always. And also, he didn't want her to see that he is not happy.

Understanding his state of mind, she shook her head and gently placed her hand on his shoulder, and called him, "Shaurya"

As soon as he turned, she hugged him making his heart skipping a beat. "Bye Shaurya and you too take care of yourself" she mumbled.

Mumbling 'Hmm', he reciprocated the hug. But it didn't last long as the announcement was made again.

Pulling away from the hug, he smiled lightly and said, "Let's go, otherwise you will miss the train"

"Ammm...woh...main chali jayungi, aap.." she said, stuffing her phone into her handbag.

"Lekin...?" Before he could complete, she spoke again, "Main keh rahi hoon na...aap tension mat lijiye"

Saying this, she grabbed her trolley bag tightly and turned quickly without making an eye contact as she was holding the tears that were threatening to fall down.

"Anokhi.." she unheard him and started walking.

Touching her wet eyes, she wondered at her own behaviour what is happening to her. Every step she was taking, she was feeling heavy inside.

'Why is she having difficulty in going? Why does she feel like something is left behind? Why is it difficult to look back, at him? And placing her hand on her heart, she thought that why it is paining? Why?' All these thoughts were running into her mind and bothering her. And unable to understand the feelings she was going through, more tears rolled down her cheeks.

The moments they spent together, started running into her mind. From their first encounter, then misunderstandings and their fights without any reason, to him solving her every problem, their growing friendship, taking care of each other and having fun with each other, everything was flashing before her eyes like a slideshow.

The way he treats her, take care of her and pampers her, nobody has done this for her ever. And the way he loves her...Her heart skipped beats on the thought of love.

'But she doesn't love him' her mind spoke interrupting the thoughts of love. 'Then why is it difficult to look back?' this time, her heart spoke. 'Because he is her friend and she can't see him upset and hurt'. 'But Reema is also her friend then why didn't she feel the same, bidding good-bye to her?'

The battle between her mind and heart was interrupted when she felt a slight push and she realized that she was blocking the train door.

Mumbling sorry, she moved in and after searching for her seat, she placed her bag on the shelf and sat on her seat.

Sighing deeply, she shut her eyes to push his thoughts from her mind and leaned her head back. But it was not helping either. Her mind was still flooded with his thoughts only.

She knows, he is hurt but he won't show, as always. She still remember how he was behaving the day she broke his heart, as if nothing had happened. She knows, he was pretending because he didn't want to make her feel guilty.

And two weeks back when he got to know that she was going back, the pain in his voice and eyes was clearly visible.

"Kya? Tum wapis ja rahi ho?" He asked shocked while she nodded.

"No. Bilkul bhi nahi" he again spoke to which she narrowed her eyes and mumbled, "Shaurya...?"

He sighed deeply to calm himself and said, "I mean, kyu ja rahi ho tum?"

"Shaurya main apne ghar wapis ja rahi hoon, isme itna shock hone ki kya baat hai?"

"Tum Kahin nahin ja rahi ho"

"Lekin kyu?"

"Kyunki main keh raha hoon"

He took off his glasses and rubbed his forehead as he knew, his behaviour was confusing her.

"Han job...agar tum chali jayogi toh tumhari job..." Before he could complete, she interrupted him.

"Job toh main Kapurthla mein bhi kar sakti hoon na. Aur waise bhi results aane mein abhi do mahine hai, toh itni der main yahan kya krungi?"

Hearing her, his nostrils flared in anger. Banging his hands on the bonnet of his car, he yelled, "You know what? Tumhe jo karna hai karo, jahan jana hai jayo. I don't care!"

"Shaurya..." Her eyes widened in shock seeing his bruised knuckles. "Kya ho gaya hai aapko? Aap mera gussa apne hath pe kyu nikal rahe hain?" She said holding his injured hand.

But he pulled his hand away and after asking her to sit in the car, he got into the car and started the engine.

"Shaurya meri baat toh suno...Shaurya.."

"Shaurya" she opened her eyes in jerk.

Her heartbeat started pounding, as soon as the final announcement was made.

On the other hand, his heart was shattering, watching her going. But still he stood there and waited for her to turn but it never happened.

A lone tear escaped from his eyes when the reality hit him that it's all over now. She will not come back, to him.

His heart was aching and he was cursing himself for spoiling everything. His one confession, spoiled their friendship. And that's why she did not look back for the last time even once.

Shaurya Sabherwal, the man of few words, has now started expressing himself, understanding other's point of view. The person who didn't care about what others think, is started to get affected now. From the day she has come into his life, he has changed a lot.

After Shagun, he never thought that he would fall in love again. But his heart gave up in front of her and he fell in love again. But this time also his love remained incomplete.

'Why does this always happen to me? Why?'

He pressed his lips tight to hold back his tears but it didn't help him either. And as soon as he closed his eyes, the time and the moments they spent with each other, came before his eyes.

He is going to miss her badly. Her non stop chattering, smile, laughter, eyes and also her concern for him, pacifying him whenever he gets angry, pulling his cheeks occasionally and her pampering, he is going to miss everything.

He came out of the sweet memories when he heard the train honking and it was getting started.

Suddenly he started feeling uneasy. The scenario of her going away from him, was repeatedly coming before his eyes. Tears were constantly rolling down his cheeks.

Unable to bear the heaviness of his inner being anymore, he turned left from there with his broken heart.

To be continue...
