Steve's PoV

Two weeks. It had better two weeks since she had been to his apartment. Two weeks since she had broken off her engagement. Two weeks since their kiss. Two weeks.

Steve couldn't help but feel guilty as he left her apartment that night. It wasn't the kiss that he regretted, but the way he had done it. It wasn't loving and tender, but heated and rough, a desperate kiss filled with want and need. It should have been soft and slow. It should have been chaste and light, but it was far from it. If anything it wasn't Steve.

He didn't know what had come over him. He wasn't one to go around kissing women who had just broken up with their fiancés. He wasn't one to go around kissing women at all. He had been brought up to be a gentleman, to treat women with respect and dignity. So where did this side of him come from? He could only come up with one answer.

Peggy brought it out in him.

There was just something about the S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent that drove him crazy. He constantly wanted to be near her, to touch her, to kiss her, to hold her. He wanted to be the one to walk her to her apartment after a night out. He wanted to be the one to dance with her, to make her laugh, to sweep her off her feet.

They had been through the war together, so they knew well what it was like to lose their loved ones and how important it was to grab something while you have the chance, but his had been snatched from his grasp the first time around.

Sure, they had had some moments together during the war when maybe something could have happened, but it was never the right time. All the stolen glances, the meaningful talks, the promise of a dance, a deal sealed with a kiss, all of them were pulled from under them during the last battle against Hydra.

Steve had never felt regret like he did while flying that plane. He had never felt more cowardly even as he welcomed death. He had wasted his chance with Peggy and they would never even get a story. They wouldn't have their first dance, have a first date, a wedding, children, grandchildren, nothing. All because Steve was too scared.

But, Steve had a second chance now. He could build a life with Peggy and set off into the sunset with her, to get the happy ending that God knows they deserved, or he would die trying.

Now was the time for making up for lost time. Now was the time to make up for every time he didn't kiss her and he should have. Now was the time to make the most of it. Now was the time to live his life the way he should have done before- with Peggy.

Steve had waited so long to kiss her like that, to pull her tight against him and kiss the almighty God out of her, to feel the warmth of her lips against his, to feel her hands in his hair. Oh that had done things to him. It was a sensation like no other. He couldn't even describe it. It felt amazing. It felt right. It felt like home.

As Steve stood around a large map covered table in the Mission Room, he and a group of other agents had started planning their next step in this everlasting war against Hydra.

He leaned over the table, checking an area for it's terrain when he heard someone clear their throat next to him. The Captain turned to see a small black haired man which circular metal glasses that magnified his brown eyes. The man stared down at the ground, clutching two brown files to his chest as if his life depended on it.

"Excuse me-" the man paused to clear his throat. "Captain Rogers?"

"Agent?" Steve replied standing up properly and turning to face the man completely.

The man's face lit up as he finally met Steve's gaze. He secured his glasses on the bridge of his hook noise before smiling widely.

"Mr. Stark would like to see ya in his office as soon as possible."

"Alright. Thank you, Agent...." Steve trailed off, allowing the man to insert his name.

"Nelson, Sir. John Nelson," the man said with a proud smile, standing up slightly straighter.

"Thank you Agent Nelson," Steve said which a smile and a nod.

"It's no problem, Captain," Nelson replied, returning his nod with a friendly smile before walking away.

-
Steve left the mission room almost immediately and headed towards Howard's office. He didn't know why he was needed, but if was needed as soon as possible, then what was sooner than now?

When Steve had reached the door, he knocked four times, tapping the familiar beat that he did almost every time he knocked on a door. He took a step back, clasping his hands in front of him as he waited for an answer.

"C'mon in," he heard Howard call from inside the office.

Steve opened the door slowly, careful not to burst in in case anything like the other day with Peggy was to happen. When there was no objections, he opened the door fully and stepped into the room.

"Ah, heya Cap," Howard said, standing up from his desk and smoothing down his brown suit jacket.

"Mr. Stark, you wanted to see me?" Steve asked, closing the door behind him.

"Yeah, yeah. C'mon in, Cap. Take a seat," he said, waving him in and motioning towards the seats in front of his desk.

As Steve sat in the same seat he had back when Howard had explained Project Capsicle to him, Howard walked around to the front of the desk, one of his hands in his pocket. Steve let his eyes wander to the window. It felt like it was yesterday that Howard had told him that he had missed the end of the war, but it also felt like years ago. Three weeks. That was the reality of it. He had been back only three weeks, but yet it felt like longer.

"So, Cap," Howard started as he sat down on the edge of his desk, his hands clasped in front of him as his he was praying. "While Project Capsicle was happenin', everythin' was kept extremely hush-hush. No one knew because obviously we didn't know if it was gonna work, but-" he motioned towards Steve. "-it clearly did. Anyway, what I'm tryin' to say is when ya first woke up, no knew to expect ya. But, you've been out and about for a few weeks and of course people are gonna notice eventually if some fella who was supposed to be dead isn't. And well, they have."

Howard looked at his watch, before standing up and walking over to the radio across the room, Steve's eyes following him as he went, his eyebrows furrowed in both curiosity and confusion. Howard spent a moment tuning in the radio before turning back to look at Steve.

A few news reports were read until one jumped out at him.

"Captain America is back! News that the famous war hero is alive and still swinging that shield has spread across the nation. He has been spotted around New York City, but no one really knows what the old time Captain in doing now."

"You're national news, my friend," Howard said, walking back to the desk and to the other side of it. "Word has spread like wild fire about ya bein' back. Luckily for us, they don't know much else and hopefully-" he opened a drawer, taking out some newspapers and handing them to Steve. "- they'll keep thinkin' that you were just livin' your life because that's what you're gonna tell 'em."

Steve looked down at the newspapers in his hand and saw the headlines on all over them were all similar.

"Captain America is back!"
"The Star Spangled Man Still Has a Plan!"
"Cap is Still Kicking"
"The Hero Returns"

Steve's eyes flickered back up to Howard.

"What am I supposed to do?" Steve asked, looking back down at the picture of him during the war.

"Don't worry, Cap," Howard said with a smirk as he took the papers back off of Steve and handed him a file instead. "We've gotcha covered."

Howard told Steve what they had come up with for his cover; Steve had indeed crashed, but he managed to survive, barely and had spent the last two years trying to get back to America. If asked why he hadn't gotten in contact with anyone, he was to say that he had tried, but by the time he had gotten radio access, all the frequencies had changed because the war had ended, or more simply to just say "that's classified".

"I'll leave that bit up to you," Howard said, with a smirk. "Now-" he started, looking down as he fixed the cuffs of his sleeves. "-onto the important question." He let his eyes move to Steve, his head staying where it was. "What is the story between you and the Queen of England herself?"

"Who? Peggy?"

"No. Frank Sinatra. Of course I'm talking about Peggy!" Howard threw his hands up in the air in exasperation. "Christ Rogers," he muttered to himself, his hand on his forehead.

"Wha- there's nothing goin' on Howard. What are you talking about?"

"Okay, Cap," Howard started, taking a seat beside Steve. "You don' wanna tell me, that's fine. But, I see the way ya look at her and the way she looks at ya when ya think no one is lookin'." Steve felt himself blush slightly. "I know women and I know that look, so don't tell me something isn't goin' on when it is. Look who you're talkin' to," Howard said, spreading his arms wide. "I've been trained to spot these things, Cap," he added with a wink.

Steve's heart rate picked up slightly. He could feel the blush spreading across his cheeks darkening ever so slightly, but he tried to ignore it. What was there to tell? They hadn't even gone in a proper date yet! And anyway, Steve wasn't one to kiss and tell, or at least not in that moment.

"I- there's nothing to tell, Howard," Steve said, looking down at his hands.

Howard sighed.

"Look, Cap. It's obvious, but you don't have to tell me now. I won't force it out of you. Yet. And hey, if you ever wanna talk, or you need any advice..." Howard trailed off, causing Steve to look up at him and saw him grinning like a madman. "I'm your man," Howard added with a wink.

Howard stood up, walking around his desk once again.

"I know my stuff, Rogers. Don't forget that."

"I won't, Stark. I don't think you'd let me," Steve said with a chuckle as he stood up.

"You've got it. Alright, well, I think that's it..." Howard trailed off, stroking his moustache in thought.

Steve nodded before walking to the door. He placed his hand in the dorm knob when he heard the other man call after him.

"Quick fire questions before you go, Cap. Eh... Where've ya been for the last two years?"

"I've been tryin' to get back to America after crashing a plane during the war."

When Howard said quick fire, he meant quick fire. Steve barely had a chance to finish his last answer before the next question was asked.

"How did ya survive?"

"I barely did, but I eventually found some kind locals who helped."

"Why did you crash?"

"I had to crash to save lives, to try to win the war."

""And why didn't you radio in?"

"I couldn't. First, I didn't have access to a radio and when I eventually did, they wouldn't connect, 'cause as I now know, the frequencies were chan-"

"Are you in love with Peggy Carter?" Howard asked as quickly as the last questions and in the same tone of voice,

"That's classified," Steve answered just as quickly, a smirk spreading across his face.

"Damn it, Rogers!" Howard said, throwing his arms up in exasperation. "I will get it outa ya eventually."

"Sure, Stark. Whatever helps you sleep at night," Steve said as he opened the door.

"Ugh, just do us all a favour, Cap and ask her on a date," Howard said, fixing his waxed hair.

"Howard-"

"Don't 'Howard' me. Cap, if you don't ask her out, I will," he said with a shrug.

Steve raised his eyebrow and just looked at him.

"Don't test me now, Cap. I'll do it. Hell, I'll do it right now," Howard said, walking towards Steve and the door.

"Alright! Alright. Fine," Steve said, holding up his hands in surrender as Howard neared him.

Howard's face lit up like a child's on Christmas morning.

"So you'll do it?"

Steve stepped out of the office, ignoring the question.

"Goodbye Howard," he said with a chuckle.

"But-"

"I'll talk to you later, Stark," Steve called over his shoulder as he made his way down the corridor, back towards the Mission Room.

He faintly heard the sound of Howard making an exasperated noise before he closed the door. Steve laughed quietly to himself as he walked, his feet taking him to where he would hopefully find the person he was looking for. He needed to ask her a question.

-
Steve found her in the storage room that was attached onto the Mission Room. She was going through a box of files, her curled brown hair cascading down around her face as she leaned over the box. As Steve drew closer, he watched as her eyebrows unfurrowed, her scowl being replaced by as small smile as she removed a file from the box.

Steve stood just to her left, leaning slightly against the shelf beside him as she opened up the file. He didn't mean to look, but he could see the corner of a picture in the file, one that looked very familiar. He knew what the file was, making him smile slightly at the thought that she had sought it out.

"Find what you were lookin' for?"

Peggy jumped slightly, clutching the file to her chest as she turned to him, the look of annoyance that was on her face, wiping off when she saw that it was him. Her cheeks were covered with a soft pink blush.

"Steve! What are you doing here?" She asked, clutching the file tighter to her chest.

"I was lookin' for you. What are you doin' here?" Steve asked, grinning like a fool as he already knew the answer.

"Well, you've found me," Peggy said with a smile. "And I was looking for an old file to see if it can help with an ongoing investigation, if you must know."

"Ah, alright. Yeah.. Uh... I wanted to ask you a question," Steve said, lowering his voice slightly as another agent walked into the room.

"Alright. Go ahead."

Steve paused for a moment, watching as the other agent left the room, before turning his attention back to Peggy.

"You can do this Steve. Just ask. If you don't, Howard will and who knows where that would lead to," Steve thought, trying his best not to think about the idea of the two "fonduing". "If she says no, she says no. Just ask her!"

"I- er... Would you..."

Steve watched ask Peggy glanced down at the file before meeting his gaze again. He scratched the back of his neck trying to phrase the question in his head.

"Would you like to have dinner? With me?" Steve asked, letting his gaze drop to the box beside them.

"Steve, are you asking me on a date?"

Steve's eyes flickered back to Peggy's face, a small smile tugging at her red lips.

"Yeah. Yeah, I am," he said, a grin breaking across his face as he gained a bit of confidence.

"Well then," Peggy paused, placing the file back in the box before returning it to the shelf. "In that case, it's a yes."

Steve grinned like a fool, but he didn't care. She had said yes! He was going on a date with Peggy Carter. Peggy smiled up at him, obviously just as happy with the idea.

"Alright. And I'm guessing you don't need that file for research anymore?" Steve asked with a cheeky smile, raising his eyebrow.

"Shut up, Rogers," Peggy said, a blush spreading across her cheeks as she realised he knew that the file was his.

Steve chuckled and walked with Peggy out of the room.

"So, when are you free?"

"Well, I'm free on Saturday...?" She said, as they neared her desk.

"Saturday it is then. I'll pick you up, say seven?"

"Alright, Captain. I'll see you then," Peggy said with a smile that drove Steve crazy.

"Agent," Steve said with a wink as he walked away, getting back to work.

He couldn't wait for Saturday.

-
As Steve climbed the stairs to Apartment 13, he checked himself over, making sure he hadn't gotten any food on his uniform.

He had spent the majority of the day getting ready, buying ingredients, cooking and making sure his apartment was spotless. He wanted everything to be perfect.

The Captain has spent the last two hours trying desperately to follow a recipe in one of his mother's old cook books, but after numerous attempts and almost burning down his apartment twice, he had given up. Hence, why as he knocked on Peggy's door, he had a shop bought apple pie and ice cream in a bag. All that was left to do was to finish cooking the dinner.

As he waited outside the apartment, he could hear the soft clicking of heels nearing the door before Peggy opened it. He couldn't help but smile like a madman when he saw her. She was wearing a simple navy dress, with two red strips around his waist and one along the neckline, and some navy shoes. Her hair was clipped back at the front, but hung free at the back, flowing across her shoulders. But the thing that pulled the whole look together and make it oh-so-Peggy, was the signature red lipstick that graced her lips.

"Captain," Peggy greeted and she stepped out of the apartment and closed the door.

"Agent," he replied, still smiling like crazy.

He held his arm out to her as she turned back to him. She quickly pulled on her coat before linking her arm with his. She smiled up at him, driving the butterflies in his stomach up the walls.

"Shall we?" He asked, smiling down at the stunning woman beside him.

"We shall," she said, returning his smile as they started walking.

"So, Captain," Peggy started, saying his title in such a soft, yet seductive tone, that Steve found it almost impossible not to shove her up against the wall and kiss her. Almost. "Where are you taking me?" She asked, looking up at Steve.

She had that look in her eye, the one that said she knew what she was doing to him. And she did. She knew that Steve loved it when she called him Captain, but even more so, she knew the effect it had on him when she said it a certain way.

"I was thinkin' we could stay in?"

"Oh that sounds perfect," Peggy said with a content sigh.

"Great. Well,I spent the whole day cookin' or at least tryin' to," Steve said, shaking his head as he chuckled. "Hence the contents of this bag," Steve held up the bag so that she could see it.

"And what are the contents of your bag?" Peggy asked, leaning into him as they walked out into the brisk winter air.

"Pie."

"Pie?" Peggy asked as they neared the curb.

"And ice cream."

"And ice cream?"

"I said I spent the day tryin' didn't I?" Steve asked with a grin as he tried to hail a cab.

"Oh, so when you say trying, you mean trying and failing miserably?" Peggy asked with a playful smile, cocking her head to the side slightly.

"Shut up, Carter," Steve said, nudging her with his hip as he continued to try to hail a cab.

"Make me, Rogers," Peggy retorted, standing her ground, her free hand on her hip.

Steve gave up trying to hail a cab and stepped closer to her so that there chests were practically touching as he towered over her smaller frame, as she looked up at him. He leaned down slightly, a smirk on his lips as they neared hers.

Suddenly, a car horn sounded directly to their right, making them jump apart.

Steve's eyes shot towards the car and saw a cab waiting for them.

He smiled at Peggy before taking her hand in his.

"Come on, Doll," he said, making her laugh as they climbed into the cab.

-
"Peg, can you wait here a minute?" Steve asked as he unlocked the door to his apartment.

"Ehm.. Okay....." Peggy said slowly, furrowing her eyebrows at Steve.

"You'll see why in a minute," he said as he opened the door, slipped inside and closed it again.

Steve hurried around the apartment, lighting candles he had set on the table and around the apartment, putting on some quiet background music and turning on the oven to reheat the previously cooked meal.

"Steve?" He heard Peggy call from the other side of the door.

"One second!" He called back as he lit one more candle and turned around to make sure he had gotten them all.

He smiled at his work.

"Not half bad," he thought to himself with a nod of approval.

He moved back towards the door, opening it wide and leaning against it, but Peggy wasn't there.

"Peg?" He asked, stepping out of the apartment and looking around for her. "Peggy?"

There was no answer.

Steve's heart began racing as he looked around again.

Still no sign of her.

He moved to the left, down the corridor towards the stairs.

"Peggy! Peggy Carter!"

Steve paused for a moment praying for a reply, anything. But there was nothing.

His heart was nearly beating out of his chest, his chest tightening in panic, restricting his breathing.

He doubled back on himself, passing the apartment and looking towards the right, running his hand through his hair as he tried to control his breathing and stay calm. He jogged back to the apartment, he needed to stay calm. That's the only way he'd find her. He had to find her.

Just as he was pulling the door closed her heard a faint laugh that made him stop.

"Captain, my Captain? Hello? Where are you going?"

He opened the door again and looked inside. There she was, sitting on the couch, a smirk plastered across her face.

"Peggy? What are you- how did you-?" He pointed from Peggy to the corridor to his left.

"Ah, if I told you that, Captain-" she said popping a grape into her mouth.

"Is that a grape? Is she eating my grapes?" Steve asked himself, raising an eyebrow.

"-I would have to kill you," she said with a cheeky smirk as she stood up and walked towards him.

Steve's panic faded and was replaced by growing confidence. He walked into the room, closing the door behind him before walking towards her, standing up as straight as possible.

"I'd like to see you try, Carter."

They met in the middle of the room, Steve watching as Peggy's eyes moved from his eyes to his lips and back again.

"Don't test me, Rogers," she said quietly, her pupils blown wide.

"Hmm... I think I will..."

He was growing bolder and bolder by the second and he didn't know where his confidence was coming from.

"You know somethin', Peg?" He asked, grinning at the way her eyes followed his lips.

He leaned in closer, but instead of bringing his lips to hers, he moved his head so it was beside hers, his lips brushing against her ear.

"I don't think you'd be able to keep up," he whispered softly.

Peggy pushed him away slightly, a grin on her face as she stepped back and pointed at him playfully.

"Watch yourself, Rogers."

Steve chuckled before pulling her in for a hug, kissing the top of her head.

"Please don't do that to me again. For a split second, I thought I had lost you," he said into her hair.

"I'm sorry, Darling," she said against his chest, giving him a tight squeeze. "I was just fooling around."

"It's alright, Sweetheart. You just scared me for a second."

Peggy pulled back slightly from the hug, looking up at him with a small smile.

"You will never lose me, Stevie," she said softly, her fingertips trailing across his cheekbones.

"And you won't lose me," he whispered back. "Again," he added after a moment.

They both chuckled at that, but inside they new that they couldn't lose each other again. Steve's hands moved to her waist as he swayed them slightly to the music. Peggy's hands went around his neck, her face resting against his chest and towards the kitchen.

Peggy looked up at him for a moment before standing on her tippy toes and giving him a kiss on the cheek. She returned to her normal position, sighing quietly against his chest.

"Thank you for making such an effort."

"It's no trouble, Peg. I wanted to make a special evening for my best gal."

Peggy smiled against his chest, giving him a squeeze.

They swayed silently for a few moments until Peggy spoke up.

"Hey, Steve?"

"Yeah, Peg?"

"I-I think the oven is smoking..." Peggy said, trailing off.

Steve stopped swaying as he heard what she said.

"Wha-" he started, turning towards the oven but stopped when he saw it.

It was smoking.

"The food!" Steve yelled in his head.

"Shoot! Shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot! SHOOT! Shoot!" Steve said running over the oven and opening the door.

A cloud of smoke billowed out, causing him to couch. He quickly grabbed a towel and lifted out the now ruined Shepherd's Pie.

"Arg!" He said in exasperation, as he opened the window to air out the apartment.

Steve put his hand on his forehead, sighing angrily.

"Steve, it's alright," Peggy cooed beside him, her hand on his shoulder.

"I'm so sorry, Peggy. I wanted this evenin' to be perfect and I went and -uh- cremated the dinner."

Peggy chuckled beside him, the sound music to his ears and instantly making him feel better.

"What was it before it was burnt to death?" Peggy asked between laughs.

"Shepherd's Pie. My mom's recipe," he said, scratching the back of his neck.

"That's alright. We can make it again. I'll help next time, okay?" Peggy said, turning him so that he would look at her.

"Okay," Steve said with a small smile. "The only thing is that apart from this, the only thing I have that's already made is apple pie and ice cream..."

"Sounds good to me," Peggy said, smiling up at him.

"Are you sure? I can make some sandwiches..."

"It's perfect, Steve."

"Alright," Steve said with a lopsided grin.

He grabbed two plates and placed the pie in the still warm oven. He replaced the larger dinner plates on the table with smaller ones and took out the ice cream before placing it on the table. Finally he grabbed the pie and put it in a tray before bringing it back to the table.

He pulled up a seat beside Peggy and dished up their dessert.

Steve and Peggy ate their desserts slowly, swapping childhood stories, Steve of growing up with Bucky and going to art school and Peggy of growing up in London and going to "St. Martin-In-The-Fields High School".

"More ice cream?" Steve asked as Peggy finished the last of her own.

"Ehm... Well, I suppose it would be rude to say no, so yes please," she said, grinning.

Steve picked up a spoon and put a scoop full of ice cream on it before lifting it over to Peggy and holding it up to her mouth. Peggy opened her mouth, but before she could get it, Steve moved the spoon and smeared ice cream on her nose.

Steve burst out laughing at the sight of a shocked Peggy with a nose-full of ice cream and after a few moments, Peggy joined in.

Suddenly, Peggy grabbed spoon from Steve's hand and smeared ice cream across his face, from ear to ear. This cause them to laugh even harder until the were both clutching their sides and gasping for air.

Steve stood up after a moment, still laughing slightly as he moved over to her.

"Come 'ere, Peg," he said, holding his arms out to her.

"No, you're covered in ice cream!" Peggy said, jumping up and backing away.

"Come 'ere. You know you want to."

Steve moved towards her. Peggy tried to duck under his arm, but he caught her and lifted her up in the air. Peggy laughed hysterically as Steve held her above him.

"Let me down, Steve," she said as her laughter died down.

"Yes, ma'am," he replied, lowering her down, but not letting go.

He looked down at her, his hand moving to cup her cheek.

"You're so beautiful."

Peggy laughter softly before meeting his gaze.

"Thank you. You're not half bad yourself," she joked.

Steve smiled lovingly down at her and leaned in close. Instead of kissing her likes he thought he would, at the last second he changed paths and licked her nose.

"Ew! You licked me!"

Steve roared with laughter, clutching his sides as Peggy looked at him with a horrified expression.

"You're going to pay for that, Rogers."

Steve couldn't reply, he just kept laughing as Peggy crossed her arms, a small smile breaking out on her face.

"Aw, I'm sorry, Peg," he said, wiping away tears of laughter. "Here, let me kiss it better."

"No."

Steve chuckled, holding his hands up in surrender.

"No licks, I promise."

"Fine."

Steve put his hands one either side of her face, leaning in to kiss her nose better, when at the last second, Peggy turned her head and licked his cheek.

Steve pulled back, squinting his eyes at her.

"Touché," he said quietly.

Steve lunged for Peggy who ran away from him, which started a chase around the apartment. Peggy jumped over the coffee table and everything, anything to avoid being licked again. After a while, she held up her hands in surrender.

"Truce?" She asked, slightly short of breath.

"Truce," Steve said with a smile.

"Thank god," Peggy said with a laugh as she sat down on the couch.

Steve walked over to the kitchen, shaking his head slightly as he smiled. He opened the cupboard and took out a glass before turning back to Peggy.

"Glass of water?"

"Please," Peggy said with a sigh.

Steve chuckled quietly to himself as he poured two glasses of water and returned to Peggy, sitting down beside her.

"So, was there anyone else interesting in your life while I was... Gone?" Steve asked.

"Love life? Well, apart from Scott and of course Howard-"

Steve chocked on his water and spat it across the room.

"WHAT?!?" He yelled in his head, as he was too busy choking to do so out loud.

"-there was no one else. Are you alright?" Peggy asked turning to Steve who struggled to breathe.

"H-Howard?" Steve managed to get out between gasps of air.

Peggy paused, looking at him with a straight face before bursting out laughing.

"No, not Howard! Of course not!" Peggy said, placing her glass down on the table as she laughed even louder. "Who do you think I am?" Peggy snorted. "You should have seen your face!" Peggy nearly fell off the couch with laughter as she rolled around on it.

"That-," Steve said, putting his glass beside hers on the table. "-was cruel."

He stood up and cleaned up the water that had made itself halfway across the apartment, leaving Peggy still laughing on the couch.

"You're mean," he said, sitting back down beside her.

"I'm sorry. I couldn't help myself," she said, wiping away tears.

Peggy sighed and stood up.

"I guess I should go."

"Okay," Steve said standing up beside her. "I'll bring you."

"You don't have to, Peggy reassured him.

"But I want to."

-
Steve accompanied Peggy back to her apartment and walked her to the door.

"Thank you so much for a wonderful evening, Steve. I haven't had that much fun in a long time."

"It's my pleasure, Peg. Anytime."

Steve smiled down at Peggy, watching as pulled out her keys. She turned back to him once the door was open and gave him a chaste peck on the lips, but it was enough to send tingles all over his body.

"Goodnight, Stevie," she said with a heartwarming smile as she closed the door.

"Goodnight, Peg."

Steve walked down the stairs and back into the cold city air. Even as he got home, he could still feel the tingle of her lips on his.

And there it is, chapter sixteen. If I stick to the plan of chapters that I have made, then this chapter is around the halfway point, which is a crazy thought. Thank you so much for all the support so far!

Okay IMPORTANT NOTE time:
So, school has started back and I have just started the first of two massive school years. These years involve lots of work, study and a hell of a lot of stress, so unfortunately that means I have less time for writing. I'm going to try my best to update as often as I can, but I'm not going to set a day or anything of when I'm going to update. If I did and I couldn't have the chapter done in time, that would mean more stress on me and disappointment for you guys and I don't want either of those things. I will however, post on my profile what's happening and when I'm starting a chapter or just general updates so keep an eye on that. Your patience is really appreciated because I don't want to upload some crappy chapter which I'm not happy with and isn't good enough for you fabulous readers.

Don't worry, I love this book so much and Steggy is my OTP so I won't be giving up on this book. I have big plans for Steve and Peggy and I don't plan on not following them through. To me, this book makes Steggy as real as it could be and I hope it's the same for you guys too.

Anyway, thanks so much for your support and patience! X
