"And then I said 'come with me if you like wizard, Harry!' And they walked away like I was crazy." Andy blurted out of nowhere.

"I'm sorry what?" Lynn tilted her head.

"Were you not listening to my story?" Andy feigned looking offended.

"No, you just shouted  something about wizards and you being crazy out of nowhere."

"I thought it was funny," Alex stated.

"Well, I had to start the chapter somehow!"

The group came to a stop in front of the entrance to the National Park. A bunch of kids with nets had run past them earlier talking about bugs. Because they were bug catchers. I think they got that.

"Oh, that's right! Today is the Bug Catching Contest!" Lynn remembered.

"The one situation where I loathe Saturday!" Andy groaned.

"Oooh Lilly! Can I catch one?" Alex pleaded.

Lynn sighed. "Alex you already know the answer."

"Well at least let me watch. Someone might catch a Scyther or a Pinsir! That would be SO cool to see!" What is up with this kid and the word cool?

"Yeah, we can spend some time in the park. Well, you and Andy can. I'm going to look into the Pokeathelon. I bet me and Meditite could win."

"Uh, no way. I have my own agenda. I'm going to Violet City to... pay off an old friend." Andy said.

"You can do that later, just watch Alex and make sure he doesn't do anything stupid. Also, don't do anything stupid." Lynn said.

"We all know that's impossible," Andy said. "Stupid is my middle name. Well, what you consider stupid at least. Because in all reality it's awesome!"

"That is a prime example of something stupid. You literally sounded like a contradicting hypocrite! Or a politician!"

"OK, all three of those examples were redundant!"

Alex sighed at the two and walked into the gate. "If those two are gonna keep fighting, then I'm catching a Pokémon."

The gate was fairly basic, having one path lead to the Pokeathalon Dome and another lead to National Park. Alex walked over to a sign-up sheet for the Bug Catching Contest and wrote his name. How does he know how to write? He just does!

"It's finally happening. I'm gonna get a Pokémon!" Alex was practically jumping up and down with anticipation.

"What about your whole job as a hooker? Huh?" Andy yelled.

"Andy, I still have no idea how you know about that but I was not a hooker! All I did was some jobs for guys that gave me more money than if I had been a boy or another age. Now can you please stop holding that over my head?"

"Whatever. It was still a dirty job. And Author is gonna be so peeved at me for spoiling this big twist about your character. But to be fair nobody really cares about your character anyways."

"I did what I had to do to support me and Alex! Oh crap!" Lynn realized Alex must've been hearing all of this.

"Relax Lynn. Alex is gone, he's off getting his personality fleshed out and having himself developed."

"Translation?"

"He entered the Bug Catching Contest, which begins at about Now O Clock. So I'm going to go to Violet City, Alex is your problem now!" Andy said, he started to walk off but Lynn grabbed his arm.

"Nope! You're coming with me!"

"But Lynn!" Andy complained.

"Just do it! I'll buy your next meal as long as it isn't any more expensive than normal."

"Free food? I'm in!"

Alex walked outside with a Sportball in hand. The ball was almost identical to the Pokeball, except there was a white Pokeball insignia engraved on the ball. The National Park was huge, the part with the grass was the larger part. The fencing was shaped like a circle and the grass was cut to resemble a Pokeball. Man either the owner loves Pokeballs or this place was made by aliens.

"Did the makers of the Pokeball build this park?" Alex wondered as he walked into the grass. Suddenly a Weedle jumped out at him, Alex threw the Sportball at the Pokémon. The ball hit Weedle in the head and opened, sucking Weedle in. The Sportball fell to the ground and began to shake, the button on the center glowing red.

You know I've always wondered what's inside the Pokeball when a Pokémon is being captured. Let's take a look. Inside the Pokeball was Weedle in an empty room, the door was dead ahead but some type of tractor beam was trying to hold it back. The Weedle was, only level, like, four. So it couldn't overpower the beam and was captured. Let's see what Author has to say about this one. Actually, I find this depiction interesting and believable so I'm leaving it in. But don't get cocky. I'll oppose your regular changes. Aw.

The ball clicked, signifying the Weedle had been caught. Alex picked up the Sportball and tapped the button on the center, sending out Weedle. The Pokémon was very similar to a worm, there was a small stinger on its head and on its tail.

"You are the coolest. Thing. Ever." Alex decided. He picked up the Weedle and hugged it.

Lynn ran into the park with Andy following behind, complaining about having to put effort into something. Hey! I was complaining about having to put effort into something I didn't care about! You mean that didn't benefit you. Stop making me look bad! Stop giving me chances to. Stop writing me like this. Stop interfering with my story. Not happening. Then we're at a deadlock.

"Oh shoot! It's the po-po!" Alex picked up a stick with his other hand and held it in front of his face. Wow, that's sad. He's five! Give him a break! Lynn and Andy stood in front of him. Lynn sighed.

"Alex I'm not playing games. Stop it now." Lynn ordered.

Alex dropped the stick. "I wasn't playing games either."

"You caught a Pokémon! Alex, I told you no!" Lynn shouted.

Alex's ears turned red. "Well guess what! You're always saying Andy is a child but he has a Pokémon! So it's not fair that I can't!"

"You said what?" Andy asked.

"I called you a child. It's no secret really." Lynn replied. "Now Alex, you're going to have to release the Pokémon."

"But Weedle is my friend. And I won't let you take him away from me!" Tears welled up in Alex's eyes. "I really want a Pokémon. I don't have any friends because we're always moving around, and you two are always fighting. I just-it bothers me. And if I had a friend it wouldn't be as bad."

"Love the speech, great for your character and whatever but you missed out on a prime opportunity to makes a bug pun. Now the chapter title is pointless!" Andy said.

"Alex... I'm sorry. I had no idea I-I should've realized that my stupid fights with that-no with Andy were hurting you too." Lynn told Alex, placing a hand on his shoulder. "You can keep Weedle. Now let's get going before that job is taken."

"What about the Poke-ath-a-lon?" Alex asked.

"It can wait. Right now I want to give us the best chance possible." Lynn told him.

"Yeah about that. You promised we'd go to Violet City so sorry Lynn but unless you want to be a bad role model for Alex you gotta keep that promise. Also, I'd go without you guys but you owe me a meal and Violet City has these great sandwiches!" Andy interjected.

Lynn grit her teeth, then took a deep breath. "Fine. Let's just get it over with." The three of them walked out of National Park, not arguing, but with Alex talking about every single feature of his new Pokémon and how cool it was. OH MY GOD! KILL ME!

-------------------------

A/N Sorry for the shorter chapter but I needed to give Alex some screen time and figured I might as well not undermine it with the next chapter. Which I can promise is going to be very important for a number of reasons. So I'm hoping to get that out soon. I hope you all enjoyed today's chapter and have a nice day!
