Godzilla's sword and Shin's fire blades clashed as the two rushed at each other.
"How the hell did you get off the island?" Godzilla demanded.
"I swam, idiot." Shin spat back. He smacked his head into Godzilla's, making him stumble back. Luckily, he regained his composure quick enough to block Shin's next attack.
"There's no way you swam all the way from Isla Nublar to Japan." Godzilla said. "Not even I could do that."
"I'm not you!" Shin shouted. He activated another flame blade and jabbed it at Godzilla, but missed when he dodged out of the way. He didn't have time to pull his arm back before Godzilla swung down at it with his sword. Shin expected to feel the pain of a blade slicing through his arm, but it didn't come. Instead, he saw that while his jacket had torn, his skin hadn't. But it had done something. It had turned black. Shin pulled back for a moment and rolled up his sleeve, only to see that from his arm from his forearm to his wrist had turned black. Not only that, but the black skin had become as hard as steel. He tried to cut it with his flame blade, but it did no damage at all. However, when he took the blade away, the skin turned back into its normal colour. Even Godzilla was amazed.
"Whoa. You really aren't like me." He said. He barely had time to react before Shin attacked him again. He quickly realized what had happened. Shin was able to evolve and de-evolve himself at will to fit his situation.
"That's how you got off the island, huh?" Godzilla asked, blocking another attack. "You evolved gills so you could stay underwater for longer. I guess that's why you look somewhat normal now too."
"I guess so." Shin growled. He was getting sick of Godzilla's banter. Despite this, he was still amazed at this evolution power. He didn't even realize he had it until now, as it had only manifested subconsciously. But now he knew about it, and he could use it to his advantage. He decided to try something, and redrew his flame blade. Rather than shoot it through his fist, he opened his hand and shot the blades through his fingers. They resembled claws now. He grinned and ran at Godzilla, arms outstretched. His flame claws sliced at Godzilla's arms, which he was using to cover his face. Fighting Shin was harder than he thought. He didn't know about his evolution ability until now, and he still didn't know its limits. If Shin could evolve to fit and counter any fighting style, he was practically unbeatable. While Godzilla was able to heal the wounds caused by Shin's flame claws, he doubted his arms could take much for damage. He kicked out at Shin, sending him flying back into the wall of a building, face first. Shin slowly came to his senses, and looked up at the brick wall he had been thrown into. He quickly thought up a plan, and began to evolve his arms. The skin on his forearms turned dark like before, and long claws shot out from his wrists. He dug them into the wall, and began to scale it. Godzilla tried to chase after him, but Shin was too fast. Plus, Godzilla couldn't climb walls. He breathed a sigh of defeat as Shin disappeared over the roof. He shook his head and pulled out his communicator. He connected with Gypsy Danger at the Shatterdome.
"Did you get him?" Gypsy asked.
"No, not yet." Godzilla lamented.
"Then I assume you have a good reason for contacting me?" Gypsy asked.
"I do. He has an ability I've never seen before." Godzilla explained. "He can evolve and de-evolve himself at will."
"What?" Gypsy asked, narrowing his eyes. "How the hell is that possible?"
"I don't know, but it makes him one of the most dangerous Kaiju we've ever faced." Godzilla responded. "If we let him go, and he learns how to use his powers properly, he could become the most evolved lifeform on the planet. We have to stop him, and soon."
"Understood. My Jaegers will be waiting if you need backup." Gypsy said.
Godzilla nodded, and placed the communicator back in his pocket. He looked back up at the roof. He would have to find Shin again, but he doubted that would take long.
