As I promised quite a while ago, I did a page full of concept art and sketches for the species that you guys voted on!
Most people voted for a Mountain Kirin one, so here we are :)

The images were being really difficult as to where I couldn't load them in after waiting and reloading over and over. So, this chapter is a bit later that I intended, sorry!

As Blackberry so accurately guessed, they have quite rugged, goat-like qualities with wolf-like 'palettes'.

Mountain Kirin (Qilin gorynydd) are my original species (so no copying please!). They are one of the four species of kirin (aka qilin, ghilen, kylan, etc) that inhabit the Isle of Whyvaria. They are known for being the largest and strongest kirin, but are as placid and peaceful as any other of their kind. These kirins inhabit mountainous areas, which mainly consists of Rubin valleys and gorges, but also includes some Quartzian mountains and Northern Emeraldo forests.

Distribution of Mountain Kirin Across Whyvaria:

(They are not migratory, staying only within these areas - so I didn't use any colour codes to indicate what season they stay where.)

If you've already heard about kirins (since my species is based off of the Asian Unicorn of the same name), then you'll probably be aware of their signature abilities. Following is an extract from the Whyvarian Bestiary, describing these qualities:

"Like their other magical Qilin brethren, Mountain Kirin have the unique ability to detect those of wickedness, deceit and malicious intent, those of purity, honesty and goodness and all between. There are legends of their magical intuition and of them being able to judge one's character. Mountain Kirin are specifically known for being able to perceive past, present and future negative energies, and to base their behaviours on the attitudes of others (for example, a dragon approaching a Mountain Kirin, who will soon be in an argument, will cause it to shy away or neigh somewhat aggressively, whilst a dragon storming away from an argument will cause the Kirin to buck and whinny)."

Nevertheless, all kirin are usually passive and kindly, even wild specimens allowing 'positive aura' dragons/creatures to feed or pet them. They have very few predators, usually staying in the safety of their family herds. Most deaths occur either naturally or from Byfeiran ambushes, packs of wolves, mountain lions, etc.

Again, sorry this update was so late, I couldn't get the images to load!
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading about these ^^ The next concept sketches will probably be of Byfeiran (crocodilian beasts that are fittingly nicknamed "Gore Gators") so keep an eye out for those and any other updates.
Thanks for all the support guys, have a great rest of your day or night all <3

Question for anyone who got this far!
What's your favourite part or feature about Mountain Kirins?

Mine is... hmm... probably imagining these great beasts passively feeding on moss and flowers, and THEN imagining how easily it could crush a ribcage or skull with a furious stomp. I love the idea of deadly gentle giants, for any animals, like a protective mother hadrosaur or an angry sauropod!
