Anna sat in her small but cozy apartment, surfing through the channels on her TV. She'd moved out of Namjoon's house as soon as he was released from the hospital. She asked him to please iron things out with Sylvie and to find out about his son. He hadn't wanted to let her go, but he promised to straighten things out before calling her again. What happened with him and the car had been ruled an accident, but Anna knew that there was something that Namjoon had not disclosed to her or to the police. It had driven an additional wedge in their relationship, and she'd returned his engagement ring to him.

She was back to living on her own. Her new apartment was much nicer than the old one she had when she'd been a teacher, yet she longed for the simplicity of those days. She'd invited Hoseok and Yoongi to visit her new place. It had been great to catch up with them, but their lives had diverged too much. They seemed so excited to talk about her movie, her fans, her celebrity. She loved them dearly, but she didn't tell them how much she envied their lives because they might not understand.

She'd also asked Seokjin not to contact her for a while. She needed time and space to get herself together. Often, however, she wondered what he was doing. Had he gone back to Norma? It was no secret that she'd been asking him to return to her. Everyone had told her, perhaps hoping she'd have something to add to that since it was known that she and Seokjin were old friends.

She had asked him what he meant by saying he was too far gone in darkness to be around her. He's simply said that he'd become a sad, depraved individual who would only end up hurting her and disgusting her. When he'd offered no other explanation, she agreed they should take some time away from each other and said goodbye.

Now, sitting there alone, she wondered if she'd done the right thing in cutting everyone out of her life. It had been a long, lonely six months. Her agent Rebecca had sent her some promising scripts, and she'd set up a meeting with some people in a few weeks. Maybe if she threw herself into work, the time would go by faster.

Last week she received a call from Taehyung. He was doing well in New York and asked her to think about moving over there. It was fun talking with him, but as tempted as she was to leave everything behind and go to New York, she also knew that Taehyung didn't deserve to be anyone's second choice. She herself had railed about being a consolation prize. She couldn't do the same to such a great guy. She promised to visit him as soon as she knew what her schedule would be and made sure to emphasize that their friendship was important to her.

What is it with men? Why is it so difficult to just live a normal life? Why do they have to make everything complicated? She shook her head bitterly. Alcohol and sex. That's pretty much the only things they care about. Oh, they'd deny it, but it was what was on their minds. Alcohol or sex. Alcohol and sex. Alcohol with sex. She felt out of her league.

She clicked through the channels and stopped when she came across an old movie–a Norma King movie she'd seen when she was still in high school. She stared at the beautiful woman on the screen. Anna didn't want to envy her. Norma King was a talented actress beyond what Anna could do. Deep inside, however, she envied Norma's hold over Jin, and she let out a long sigh.

No. Stop thinking about him, she berated herself. You are better off alone. Don't fall into that trap. You are better off alone. She clicked the remote, and the picture faded to black.
