Namjoon hung up the phone with Carmen, Seokjin's agent. She was very upset that Seokjin had not notified her that he was not working on the Norma movie. She had waited all day for him to go sign the contract. The studio people were livid that he'd ignored them. She'd called Namjoon to see if he knew anything about Seokjin or Anna. All he could tell her was that Anna turned down the Steinberg movie, which sent another shock wave through the industry.

So, Seokjin and Anna had disappeared again. This time together. Their parents probably knew something about it, but he was not about to bother them about it. For all her bluster, Carmen also didn't want to hound their loved ones. She knew that it was the one thing that Seokjin would not tolerate.

Namjoon spun his chair to look out the large windows of his office. The town below was bright and busy. Everyone was going about their day, busy with whatever enterprise currently mattered to them. Somewhere down there, someone was still upset that Seokjin had stood them up about the Norma consultation. Somewhere else, Steinberg's people were probably getting an earful for letting Annelise Kane walk away from the film.

He recalled the text message he'd received from Anna two days ago.

Joon, thank you for everything you've done for me.

I think you're one of the most wonderful people I've

ever met. I owe you so much more than I can say.

We will never forget your kindness. We hope you and

your son have a wonderful life. Until we meet again,

take care. Love you, A & S

He leaned back on his chair with a smile.

That evening, somewhere far away from the bright lights of that exciting and cruel city, two figures sat in an empty field in a corner of the wooded park.

They watched as the few people who had been running around the park began to disperse. A football landed close to them where they sat on a blanket.

Two people—a teenage boy and an older man—held up a hand in apology as they picked up the ball. A woman walked up to them. She glanced at the couple, turned away, then quickly turned back. She took a few steps toward them.

"I'm sorry," she began, "but, well, you look like actors. I don't mean to pry or anything."

"Yeah," the teenager added. "Didn't you come out in that movie, the one where the girl died?"

The lady, probably his mother, tapped her finger against her mouth. "Yes, but I was thinking of the one with the handsome ghost. You look so much like that actor—what was his name?" She scrunched her nose in thought. "Yes! Kim Seokjin! You look just like him."

"Yeah," the boy added. "And she looks like that model Annelise Kane. Are you sure you aren't them? I mean, used to be them or...or..."

The couple looked at each other then turned back to the family with smiles.

"Thank you," the young woman said. "We'll take that as a compliment, but you're probably being too kind."

"Yes, thank you," the young man added. "Unfortunately, we're just ordinary people, nobody famous."

The lady nodded. "Yes. We're sorry. You just looked so familiar. Imagine looking like famous stars. You are very lucky. Sorry to bother you. Good night." She motioned to her husband and son to move along.

"Good night," the young woman called out after them.

They sat there until dusk became night. The park emptied, and the sky above them began to uncover the stars, a few at a time. After a while, a canopy of stars hung over them. They lay back on the blanket and looked up at the night sky.

"You're sure we'll see meteors tonight?" she asked.

"It's a lesser known meteor shower, but we should be able to see something about one hour after sunset, which should be soon." He pulled her into his body as they lay on the blanket staring up. "Don't forget to make a wish on the first meteor you see."

"I think that applies to the first star you see, silly. I already made a wish upon it."

He chuckled and kissed her temple. "What did you wish for?"

"I can't say, or it won't come true." She snuggled closer to him. After a long, quiet moment, she gasped. "Look! Did you see it? A shooting star!"

He smiled. "Look! Right there. Another one." He sighed. "Remember when you told me that they were not really shooting stars but just space debris."

"No. You're the one who said that. Well, whatever. It's still nice to call them shooting stars." Another long silence.

"Remember we talked about how we would be shooting stars, but shooting stars disappear—"

"And we'd never disappear. We'd be friends shooting across the sky forever," she finished his thought.

"You know, I don't need to be a shooting star. I have everything I want right here with me now. Above everything else, you're still my best friend. Always."

She shifted her body until her face was in front of his. She reached in for a soft kiss. "You're everything I want and need. My wish came true after all. I love you, S...Soren."

A soft laugh escaped his lips. "That was close...Angie."

"Soon to be Mrs. Aster unless you're having second thoughts. Are you regretting any of this? The different name? The moving away?"

He kissed her passionately. When they broke the kiss, they were both breathless. "Not on your life. As soon as our name change becomes official, we will march down to city hall and get married and live happily ever after." He stared up at the stars. "Mr. and Mrs. Aster. That's really poetic, baby. Now we'll always be stars."

She reached for his hand and squeezed it. "Mr. and Mrs. Aster. I like it. Our name will literally mean 'star.'" She sighed. "It was fun while it lasted—all that movie star stuff. Well, most of the time, but I won't miss it. You?"

He thought about everything that had happened since that fateful day when he stepped off that bus and into his big break. It seemed like a lifetime ago. He had some regrets, of course; the biggest one being the hurt that he caused the woman he loved. But she was with him now, and everything would be the way it was meant to be. "No. The stars have aligned for us. This was meant to be." He thought again about that starry night so many years ago when they pledged their eternal friendship. That friendship had blossomed into an ardent and selfless love, and he couldn't believe how lucky he was. He must have been born under a lucky star.

He leaned toward her until his full lips were touching her ear. "I love you, Annie," he whispered.

She rolled her body until she was on top of him. "And I love you, Jinnie," she whispered back.

He pulled her down for a kiss, embracing her as if his life depended on it. It sort of did. She had saved him with her love and understanding. There was no one in the world he wanted by his side more than her. The sky was suddenly resplendent with shooting stars, but they were too caught up in each other to notice.

This was meant to be.
