Main OC: Arthur Monroe
Side OC: Miles Everbleed, Viessa Everbleed, Elphina Carpathia
Other: Tyrus Findlay (belongs to DragonWriter664 )

I was a little iffy to do this one, but I needed a one-page story to write for my creative writing class and since DragonWriter664 is feeling pretty down right now, I decided I should. I wanted to give Tyrus more lines but I didn't want to get him wrong, so he just has the one and even just that worries me and I'm even a little worried that I didn't convey Arthur the correct way, and he's my character so. Anyway. My newest short that was finished like five minutes ago with no editing:

Eight was a much easier age. Fourteen years ago, I was not a member of a rebellion. I didn't worry about the deaths of my friends being ordered by the Emperor. I didn't really understand that my birth parents had been slaughtered while protecting me from being sold to the highest bidder as some sort of pet, or more likely slave. I was still able to stay happy though, because I wasn't just left alone to fend for myself...well, maybe at first I was, but Tyrus found me that same day. Tyrus became my father that day.

He came up to me after a woman had smacked me for taking a piece of food from her stall, he made sure I was okay but still scolded me for trying to steal. He looked after me for eight more years before I suddenly decided to leave with Elphina. That was when I learned you should never trust a sixteen-year-old when they say they are ready to go join a rebellion, even if you are that sixteen-year-old. I just wish I could go back. Bleeding out in the back of a caravan without getting to say thank you or goodbye isn't exactly the most ideal situation.

"Arthur?" I heard Elphina's voice, "Miles, I don't think I can keep him awake."

Miles muttered a curse under his breath, it was faint but I always hear it, "Viessa, I need you to take the reins. We don't have time to stop," he said to his sister, and I listened to them shuffle around to trade spots as he spoke again, "Arthur said the town wasn't too far away from where we started, so we should be there any minute now. Just stop the horses once we get in."

"I know, Miles, I was listening," Viessa huffed at him, the two were always bickering with each other.

I don't remember mentioning any town though, "...what town?" I manage to ask as I open my eyes back up to look at Miles.

"You told us there was a town nearby right after we noticed you'd been stabbed, told us which way to go, muttered a few things about home, and then fell over," Miles reminded me.

"Why...why don't I remember?"

"You also got hit in the head pretty hard, so that might have caused it...this whole not fighting thing really isn't working out too well for you, plus it would be really helpful if we had a dragon on our side," Miles said, bringing up the same argument he always does.

"I told you, no...no...no fighting," I muttered.

"You know you repeat words a lot when you lose a lot of blood?"

"Miles," Elphina cut in, the dragon on her should letting out a loud squawk as well. The three halflings had been oddly quiet the entire ride.

"What?" Miles sighed, "You wanted me to keep him awake, I'm keeping him awake."

The caravan came to a slow stop. That didn't feel like very long, but I guess I had said we weren't very far away, though I had also lost quite a bit of blood by then. Well, it seemed like I had been right, and I heard faint voices outside of the caravan, I just hoped I wasn't imagining it like the last time I'd been stabbed. I was very delusional that day.

Miles had already gotten out of the caravan, probably to ask for help. Elphina was usually the one to do that, but she was holding the cloth to my side this time.

"Let me take a look," I heard a familiar voice, and it finally dawned on me that I only knew of one town that Miles and Viessa didn't, so I turned my head to look at who Miles had brought over.

"Tyrus," I muttered when I saw him.
I was back home.
