I wake up at home, its the next morning and Lisa is explaining what happened. "You fully blacked out, the deterioration has begun. We have a bit less time than Faith originally thought, 2 days until she goes cuckoo, and you will slip into a coma. Your stuff is packed up we are using a mainstream method to teleport to the poles, Faith just needs some of your hair and blood so we can all arrive in one piece." I hand her a tube of blood from my nose bleed yesterday, I thought it might come in handy and I give her some of my hair from my hairbrush. We leave shortly after wrapping up warm.

The portal looks like a futuristic form of public transport, it fluctuates like a rip in reality and moves like a wave. Rainbow waves are radiating out of it from every angle. Lisa and I go through together after Faith. Then it closes. The pole is icing and white, tundra. Like it says in the atlas, the south pole is vaguely warmer than the North so we are there. The cave is a 10-hour trek away, and Faith is getting worse. She's rambling, "blood, dessert, end, cave, present.." I realise my nose is bleeding, and I cling onto Lisa hoping I'll stay awake but the cold is making it worse. "We have to keep moving." Lisa fluctuates for a second, she fades then comes back. "Cave. Cave Cave. Go, Go." Faith is standing up, shaking and walking ahead of us. I stand up with Lisa's help. We keep going. My legs are numb and painful at the same time it feels like my bones are crunching under the weight. My nose has clotted up for the time being. I keep moving even though it's only been an hour, it's starting to feel more futile by the second. In the distance, the wind is kicking up a layer of fine snow and creating a misty curtain over the horizon. "Stay together, we must not get separated." Faith says. I am nodding, Faith goes a few steps away and I hear a loud noise behind me. I turn around to see what it is and I can see these beady eyes staring at me. So I stand my ground and growl, it examines me for a few minutes before walking away. But in that time the other's are out of sight completely, and the storm is picking up.

I search for ages walking straight, hoping I'll stumble across their whereabouts. But I don't... On the ice, I hear the swirling winds battering me and the snow-covered ice. Its sad this place is nearly melted in this time. I wish I could visit the past and live there, wouldn't it be nice. Less chaotic and troublesome. My legs give way and I go down into a ball on the ice. Blood gushing, coughing it up. It's true, I'm going to die out here. There is nothing in sight except ice and snow. I feel more alone than ever. I wish I could just disappear, forever.

2 days until the end, but I am not even afraid. Faith will find me somehow and I'll wait. I roll around trying to keep myself warm. I hope to be alive as I close my eyes.

4 hours later Faith is shaking me awake. The storm ended an hour ago, at least that's what she tells me. We are 8 hours away from the cave and there is an igloo up ahead. We head in there for the night to rest. "You are getting worse aren't you," Lisa says looking at my nose stained red with blood. I nod. We talk for a long time Faith seems worse she keeps shaking every few minutes. We have less than 2 days and we haven't even reached the final test yet. This is the end, isn't it?

After a while listening to the wind I drift off into a dreamless sleep...
