The bookstore was busy that day. We had to park further towards the back of the parking lot, away from the store, but that was fine with us. It was a sunny day and strangely warm for Georgia in the middle of December. It had rained nonstop the previous week so everyone was grateful for the change in weather.

After putting the car in park I turned to look at him. He was telling some joke, but to be honest, I wasn't listening. I was too busy looking at him. The sun was shining in through the car window, illuminating his hair, which was usually darker, but now appeared to be an even brighter shade of blonde.

He started laughing at his own joke and I snapped out of my daze, laughing along with him. His smile was just so beautiful.

I love you.

The words popped into my head, and I barely managed to stop them from coming out of my mouth. I clamped my mouth shut and swallowed them back, but there they still were, bouncing around my brain, begging to be released.

No, I told myself. No.

It was too soon for "I love you's." Much too soon. We'd only been dating a few weeks. Saying those three little words would surely scare him off, and that was the last thing I wanted to do.

And, to tell the truth, it scared me. I had never been in love before. It was a strange an overwhelming feeling, yet the words were pleading for me to release them.

However, as much as I wanted to say them, forced myself to ignore their cries, and for now I settled with planting a kiss on his lips. The simple gesture brought a bright smile onto his perfect face.
