A Horror Story

Whilst investigating the death of a local author, an unstable psychiatrist called Sylvia Aariel uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, ripped book circulating throughout Australia. As soon as anyone uses the book, he or she has exactly 399 days left to live.

The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look upside-down. A marked person feels like a beautiful lizard to touch.

Sylvia gets hold of the book, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into her mind: a sloppy flamingo balancing on a freezing author, an old newspaper headline about a magic accident, a hooded fox ranting about eyelashes and a drinking well located in a cosy place.

When Sylvia notices her eyebrows have lizard-like properties, she realises that the curse of the ripped book is true and calls in her boyfriend, a swordsman called Carlos Sirius, to help.

Carlos examines the book and willingly submits himself to the curse. He finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. He finds the sloppy flamingo balancing on a freezing author particularly chilling. He joins the queue for a supernatural death.

Sylvia and Carlos pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded fox. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?
