"We shouldn't be mocking our dead mother, but here we are."

"Well it's not like she can hear us, Percy," she said, rolling her eyes at me.

I shook my head. "I dunno. Maybe she can. Anything is possible, right?" I grinned over at her, and she laughed.

"I suppose. But I don't really think she can. With how awful she was, I wouldn't be surprised if she's burning in Hell," she replied, the smile on her face disappearing. The light in her eyes dimmed.

I thought about putting my and on her shoulder or something to comfort her, but there was no point in trying.

"Yeah, I guess you're probably right, albeit a bit extreme possibly," I chuckled. "When did you start believing in all that stuff? I remember you always used to say it was a load of bullcrap."

She shrugged her shoulders, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "I guess in my situation a lot of things change. It's still not something I entirely follow, but ya know..."

She trailed off, not finishing her sentence. I didn't push it. This whole ordeal was a lot harder for her than it was for me. She'd been in that car crash. She'd witnessed all the damage first hand.

"Anyway," she finally spoke up again, "I'm not sure how long I'm gonna stick around." I raised an eyebrow. "You asked before how long I was gonna stay. I guess I don't really know."

I nodded. "I guess you wouldn't. It only makes sense," I said, letting out a small laugh. She smiled.

"Yeah, still got business. But once I figure that out, I'm leaving. You're not gonna see me for a long time," she sighed. "Maybe," I replied.

"No, it better be a definitely. You're too young," she replied sternly, shaking her head. I laughed. "So are you, your point?" I asked, grinning.

"Well it's not like I had a choice. Stay out of trouble. Stay away from dangerous places. I want you to live a long, happy life," she said. She would've made a great mother.

"Yeah, yeah, I'll try," I said, and she relaxed a bit. "I'll try to make the most of you being here while you're here. I'm really gonna miss you. Already do," I added with a small chuckle.

"You always were my favorite brother," she replied. "I'm your only brother," I laughed.

There was a bit more of us just sitting there. Comfortable silence. Staring down at her grave.

"Are you sure she didn't stay with you? I don't think I wanna deal with her like that," I ask, looking over at her.

"Positive."
