Three Months Later...

"Hey Mom, what do you think of my new masterpiece?" Harrison asked, his white paws red or blue from the paint he was using. Padding over to where her only son had been painting, Gidget smiled when she saw that he had done his best to make the American flag. "It looks beautiful sweetie," she praised him, giving his cheek a loving lick.

"At least I'm no longer getting paint in my fur," Esmeralda noted, trying on a purple bow. An evil grin came over Harrison's face as he grabbed a paint brush with yellow paint on the end of it. "Oh Esmeralda..." he called out teasingly. His sister's eyes widened as she cried, "NO!" She found herself being chased by her little brother.

"No running with paint brushes, especially if you plan on using them for evil intentions!" Gidget called out to her oldest children. Seeing that they were still running around, she sighed heavily. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted Andromeda heading towards the window. "Hey, where are you going?" she asked, worried. Stopping in her tracks, the young hawk shuffled her foot nervously as she mumbled, "I was gonna go see Sparky..."

"Why?" Tiberius questioned, suddenly appearing out of nowhere. Startled, Andromeda answered nervously, "To watch... a... movie..."

"What movie?"

"Finding Nemo and then Finding Dory..."

Smiling softly, Gidget placed a reassuring paw on Andromeda's shoulder. "Go ahead sweetie, just be back before dinner," she told her daughter. Nuzzling her mother and purring, the young hawk left. Shocked, Tiberius exclaimed, "You're letting her go like that?!"

"Oh relax, they're just kids. If it makes you feel better, I'll call Max to tell him to keep an eye on those two," Gidget responded. Blinking her sky blue eyes teasingly, she added, "I sense someone's fatherly instincts kicking in..."

"Don't even try that, this is different!" Tiberius pointed out, pacing the floor. About to question how this was different, Gidget instead stopped the old hawk in his tracks. Reaching up and kissing him, the fluffy white Pomeranian spoke softly, "She'll be fine, don't worry." Giving her husband another kiss, she whispered, "I love you."

"I love you too," Tiberius replied, relaxing and laying down on the floor. Gidget's tail wagged her tail happily as she laid down beside the old hawk she loved with all of her heart.

THE END
