Y/n's POV

The orientation ended and the rest of the day was us snooping around the campus to know where the stuff is at. Nothing happened except for at lunch when me and Erick talked about our past. Turns out he was adopted into a family of faunus. As a person who was also adopted, I felt for the guy we both shared our experiences and we got closer as friends. Eventually, the night rolled around and everyone packed up to sleep I walked around the ballroom to find a place to set up my bed and found Gabriel sitting with the bow girl reading books, Ryan trying to hit on some girls, and Erick just watching Ryan fail. Because I had nothing to do I walked over to Erick and watched the chaos ensue.

Ryan: So uh, what are you into, hot stuff?

Yellow: Oh you know, action fighting, you~.

Ryan: Wait a minute. Deadass?

Yellow: I don't know, you seem like a wild ride~.

Ryan: Oh I'm wild, although I'm not sure you could handle it~.

Yellow: Try me.

I was shocked. Ryan was hitting it off with someone else? I thought it was impossible. I looked to Erick for confirmation but he looked at me the same way. As we watched the two flirt, Gabriel walked over to us with book still in hand.

Gabriel: What am I looking at?

Y/n: Ryan got himself a girl.

Gabriel doesn't respond and just shrugs before grabbing his sleeping bag and walking to the balcony. I saw people get properly ready for bed and Ryan finished his conversation, so I also got ready for bed, then some people started talking again. That Ruby girl, the yellow one and bow girl. I was able to push them out of my mind but then Schnee started arguing.

Y/n: Just shut up and sleep you beasts!

That cut their discussion short and let everyone rest.

I woke up around 7 am, many of the other students still sleeping. One of those seemingly cradled another's arm. Leaving the couple behind I went to the bathroom to get dressed and start the day. After I got ready I went off to the cafeteria and saw 12 other folks eating breakfast, I sat down with my meal when I see Gabriel and Ryan walking in, deep in conversation.

Gabriel: I'm telling you that the tech is weak and can be controlled in seconds

Ryan: An I'm saying tha the tech in the scroll can't be as easily hacked as you think.

As they spoke, they got their meals, oatmeal for Gabriel and Cereal for Ryan.

A/N: You are eating whatever you want

Y/n: What are you on about?

Gabriel: I'm saying that the security systems on the scrolls are lacking and could be worked upon.

Ryan: Na, na, na. this fucker said that the ole techie of the scroll is garb!

Y/n: Garb?

Ryan: Garbage. So mate, what ya think?

Y/n: Hmmm. I guess I'd have to with Gabriel. The security systems are lacking.

Erick: I'd have to disagree, I mean, have you seen those firewalls?

Gabriel: If you've seen one you've seen them all. They all use the same code.

Erick: Oh? How do you know?

Y/n: It's Atlas. They only do things once. It's kinda their motto.

Gabriel: they do set new codes and fail-safes with each new update though.

Erick: Yeah I heard. I originally thought it would be impossible to get better with security like that

If only he knew. The firewall is hard to crack when you first encounter it, but the other scrolls use the same firewall. This makes burner scrolls easy to make and dispose of. The talk droned on, sometimes skewing off now and again but overall staying on the topic of tech and other stuff. We went to the lockers and Ryan was almost bashed by an incoming blonde flying by on a spear. We found ourselves at the cliff for initiation right as the announcement went out.

Sorry for the short and uneventful chapter I've just been lacking in motivation
