A/N Sorry for the late update, everyone. I was out at a Terracotta Warriors exhibit with my family, and by the time we arrived home, it was too late to do an update. But here's the chapter now! Enjoy!

-------------------

Kelly’s POV

The next couple weeks we had were amazing. We were able to go and do plenty of amazing things, all in almost one month! We got ice cream at one of my favorite places in Minneapolis, and it was oh so good! Liam ate his ice cream with a fork, so we didn’t have to go through the weird spoon thing.

We also got to go down to the statue garden, and we all took a picture on the big swing-like statue, as well as in front of Spoon Bridge and Cherry. Liam looked a bit nervous when we were in front of the spoon as well, so we were laughing a bit. We all finally convinced him that it wasn’t like he had to touch it or something.

What is the deal with the spoon phobia? Can someone please explain that to me? I’m seriously confused…

Well, I’m getting off topic. But, when we reached the end of the month, the boys told us they had to go to New York City for an interview on Good Morning America. They were also going to do a small performance while they were there.

The girls and I were perfectly fine with staying behind, but then they told us the best thing of all. We’d be coming with them.

I cheered when I heard that! I was so excited to go to New York City! I’ve always wanted to go!

We’d be flying out on July 1st so we could get there the day before the interview. We were going to spend the day there, as well as part of the day after the interview. We were going to fly back home on July 3rd, just in time for the Fourth of July.

That day, the six of us girls were waiting on the front steps of my house with our bags, just like the last time we went on a trip with the boys.

There was only one difference. It was hot. And I mean, really hot, around ninety degrees. Since it had now reached July, it was much hotter in Minnesota. I swear this state has the weirdest temperatures sometimes.

I had dressed for the weather. I had a plain white t-shirt and jean shorts on, my black flip-flops, since I couldn’t find my other pairs, and a baseball cap with the logo for the baseball team, the Minnesota Twins. The brim kept my face shaded, unlike the other girls who were hanging out in the shade to have my shade.

“We’re going to be back in time for the Fourth of July celebration, right?” Courtney asked as she sipped a bottle of water she had grabbed from her cooler. “My mom bought some more fireworks at the stand they put up at the supermarket.” We always got our fireworks from there, and we always shot them off together in a big party.

“Well, what day is it today again? I’m drawing a blank,” Simone sighed.

I pulled out my phone to show them. “It’s July 1st today,” I said, slipping my phone back in my pocket. “The boys are going to get us home either tomorrow or on the 3rd, just like they said they would.”

“Great! So we can light off some fireworks!” Courtney did a little dance, but I noticed a slight lack of enthusiasm in her. She always was happy and enthusiastic, unless something was wrong. However, I chose not to pry, and instead took a quick look at the rest of the girls, who seemed to have the same look in their eyes.

“Wait a second. You’re going to invite the boys, aren’t you?” Lucy asked.

“Of course I’m going to invite them! They’re our friends now, Lucy. Why wouldn’t I invite them?”

Ana began to giggle. “Courtney, think about the history behind the Fourth of July. It’s a holiday to celebrate leaving Great Britain and becoming an independent nation. The boys are from England and Ireland.” She kept giggling as the rest of us laughed along, even Courtney.

“Point taken, but we can still invite them for the fireworks,” Courtney finished.

“Agreed,” we all chorused, smiling. That was when we saw Kyle run out of his and Courtney’s house, looking around.

“Hey, vas happenin’, Kyle?” Lizzie greeted him with a laugh.

“Are you leaving for NYC today?” Kyle asked us in response.

“Yeah, the boys are supposed to pick us up any minute now,” Lucy answered.

“Do you think they’d mind if I tagged along? One of the colleges I applied to is near there, so I’d like to check it out,” Kyle explained.

“I don’t see why not,” Ana answered. “There’s probably room on the jet. You’ll have to ask them, though.”

“Great!” Kyle grinned, and hurried back to his house. He came back out a few minutes later with a suitcase as the van pulled up, the boys inside.

“Let’s get going! I need some AC!” Simone exclaimed, running to the van and opening up the door.

“If you really needed it, why didn’t you stay inside while you waited?” Liam asked Simone.

“Fresh air is good for people!” Simone retorted. “By the way, can Kyle come along? He has something to do for college or something like that.”

“Sure, why not?” Zayn answered as we all piled into the van.

“Awesome, thanks,” Kyle said, getting into the van behind us.

“Wait, who’s driving?” Lizzie asked, noticing that Louis wasn’t in the driver’s seat. Instead, another guy was there.

“Paul’s going to drive us to the airport. He said I was driving too slow…” Louis sighed.

“Again,” Harry laughed. “Just like when we were filming.”

“Anyway, let’s just get there, so we can get on the plane. I want to go to Fifth Avenue!” Courtney grinned. “I need to go shopping!”

“I wish it was colder outside so I could go skating at Rockefeller Center,” Ana sighed.

“Well, if you go back, Ana-banana, you can,” Harry told her sweetly. That’s…different...did I miss something?

Ana seemed just as surprised as we were. Was Harry flirting with Ana, though? It would make sense, considering he was the flirt. She smiled at Harry and nodded, and the van drove off towards the airport.

--------------------

I took my seat quietly as I looked out the window of the private jet. I watched as one of the planes took off into the sky. I didn’t really want to talk, so I pulled out my sketchpad and a pencil. I popped a piece of gum into my mouth in case the plane took off unexpectedly, and chewed it so my ears wouldn’t pop.

I took a quick look around to see what I could draw. I finally decided on drawing the person across from me in his seat. He had put on some headphones and was leaning back in his seat, eyes closed.

I began drawing the shape of his face on the paper, using the guide lines to make his face as close as possible to his real look. I drew his eyes and his nose with small lines, and I did the same with his lips. I then began to draw his hair and his shoulders. I didn’t even notice that the plane took off.

By the time I finished the picture, and all the detail work, we were almost at the airport. I held the picture in my hands, looking at the picture to see how I did. I compared it to Zayn’s actual appearance, and I thought, I guess I did pretty well.

I quickly slipped it into my bag and popped a second piece of gum in my mouth to chew. At that moment, Zayn opened his eyes. He gave me a smile. “Hello Kelly,” he said kindly.

“Hi Zayn,” I responded sweetly, pushing the gum to one side of my mouth so I could speak.

He looked out the window quickly, and observed, “We’re almost there.”

“Yeah, we are. I’m really excited,” I heard myself say.

“That’s good. And, we made sure to reserve you and the girls a good spot in the audience for the performance on Good Morning America,” he told us.

“Seriously? That’s really cool. Thanks, Zayn,” I said, smiling at him.

Zayn smiled back, and that was when I felt the wheels of the jet hit the ground. “We’re here,” he said.

“Great,” I said, picking up my bag as I waited for the plane to stop.

We sat there awkwardly, unsure of what to say. I finally felt the jet slow to a stop. I smiled, getting ready to go. I unbuckled and stood up. Zayn did the same, and the two of us took the lead, walking off the plane. We exited the plane and then waited for the rest of the group out of the public eye.

The two of us stood together, watching the way we had come for the others. Finally, the rest of the group piled out the door. Zayn slipped on a pair of sunglasses, and so did the rest of the band.

Lizzie spotted us, and led the group over to us. “There you two are,” she said with a smile. “When’d you get off the plane? We were looking for you.”

“We got off once the plane landed. Now let’s go get our bags,” Zayn said. Liam nodded, and took the lead, walking to baggage claim. I guess our bags had to be put through baggage claim, even though it was a private jet and all.

Niall looked around quietly, noticing a lot of girls looking like fans. Obviously they were, because a lot of them were wearing One Direction t-shirts. “Fans,” he said to the rest of the group, and the boys, minus Kyle, nodded.

“Stay calm,” Louis told the group, and the boys nodded again. He put his hood up on his hoodie.

This suspicious look caught the attention of a few fans. Seeing five boys in sunglasses, walking quietly, was definitely suspicious. That was when they figured it out. “It’s One Direction!” one yelled loudly.

I shared a look with the girls. This would be our first run in with fans that might end up chasing us. Great. I saw flashing lights, probably from cameras or phones, as we walked. I heard screaming and squealing from some of the girls.

We kept moving, and then, the girls began to follow us as well. They tailed us down to the carousel, where our luggage was waiting. I ran and grabbed my plain purple suitcase, and the rest of the group followed, grabbing their bags.

The One Direction boys waved to their fans, giving the fans some smiles. A few of them ran up and asked the boys for autographs, and they, of course, obliged.

The girls, Kyle, and I were waiting patiently for them to finish. Paul was hurrying it along so we could go to the hotel.

After a couple minutes, the boys finished, and we walked outside, where a black van, similar to the other one back in Minnesota, was waiting. “What?” I heard myself react quietly.

Nobody else seemed to hear, and we all piled into the van quickly, taking our seats. I sat down in my normal spot, in front of Courtney. Zayn was talking with Kyle, so I pulled out my sketch as the van started up.

Courtney peered at the picture, and sent me a chat request on her phone.

CourtneyLuvsLiam: Kelly, your picture is absolutely amazing!

I responded very quickly, sliding the picture back in my bag.

KellyGGirl: Thanks Courtney.

CourtneyLuvsLiam: You should totally show Zayn that picture!

This was when Simone joined the conversation.

AuntieSi: What picture?

CourtneyLuvsLiam: Send her a picture of it, if you don’t want the guys to see.

I sighed, and pulled the picture out quickly, snapping a picture of it and sending it to Simone, as well as the rest of the girls.

AuntieSi: You are just amazing!

Then, Ana, Lucy, and Lizzie joined in.

ILoveLucy: Kelly, you’re one of the best artists I’ve ever met!

LizzieNGirl: You’re better than “Trigger Happy” and Andy! :)

AnaBethChase: Yeah, Kelly, you’re an incredible artist!

I smiled when I read Lizzie’s comment. “Trigger Happy” and Andy were really James McKinley and Andy Johnson, some friends from school. The three of us were in our school’s Art Club. James was called “Trigger Happy” because of slight anger issues, and we all joked about it all the time.

KellyGGirl: Thanks, you guys. And I think “Trigger Happy” and Andy are better than I am.

AnaBethChase: Those two have nothing on you.

ILoveLucy: Exactly. They’re good artists, you’re a great artist. You should show Zayn the picture.

AuntieSi: You really should!

LizzieNGirl: Yeah! I know you should!

CourtneyLuvsLiam: Trust us on this, Kelly. You should show him.

KellyGGirl: Nah. I’m good. Let’s just wait for the van to arrive at the hotel.

That pretty much ended the entire conversation. Nobody sent anything after that until we arrived at the hotel.

We all piled out of the van and walked to the door with our bags. I saw Lizzie mouth at me, “Show him!” I shook my head, and continued walking.

Paul was the one who checked us in. I stood by the chairs, checking out some things online. I decided, just for the fun of it, to type in One Direction in the search bar on Google. I did so, and what I saw shocked me.

The newest link on Google was to a website that said, One Direction hanging out with mystery girls? I clicked the link, and found a whole article written and posted only a while ago.

One Direction hanging out with mystery girls?

The famous British and Irish boy band have been eyed by many girls wishing for a day to hang out with them. But who are these six girls who seem to keep showing up around them?

The five lads, all ages eighteen to twenty-one, have been spotted with six girls all seeming ages seventeen or eighteen, and one fifteen year old. They were seen at Great Wolf Lodge in the Wisconsin Dells, WI, earlier this summer, and have been seen together since.

After mentioning Great Wolf Lodge, there was a picture of the eleven of us who had been there hanging out in that little nook we found. We were sitting around and talking, all seeming to have a good time.

What are the girls’ relationships with the famous boy band? A comment made by twenty-year old Zayn Malik at a restaurant where he, the rest of his band, and these six mystery girls, may answer the question. “They’re some friends of ours that we’re spending the summer with.”

Is that all they are, though? Friends, or are they more?

A picture of Louis and Lizzie holding hands at Great Wolf Lodge was below there.

Could Louis Tomlinson have a potential girlfriend in the group? Or maybe one of the other boys has a potential girlfriend?

Who are these mystery girls? How did they get so lucky to spend a summer with the world’s most wanted men? And why can’t we be them?

There was one last picture there, and it was from when we were at the airport together, walking to get our bags. Kyle and Paul were in the picture too, but they were kind of ignored.

I sighed, remembering that comment. The paparazzi had found us now. But what did they think? I stayed silent, just rereading the article, and searching through the mixed signals again.

It’s pretty much my life now.
