A/N Hey everyone! So, an early update! (By about two hours, it's about 10:30 PM where I am now) I wrote this one all through the extra time I had during the state test, so this one is pretty well thought out in my opinion. I hope you all like it! Enjoy!

----------

Ana’s POV

Our day at the mall had been quite entertaining and fun. The boys actually did end up taking pictures next to their larger-than –life posters on the wall of the 1D store. Harry decided to have a little bit of fun and did the cupcake pose next to his picture. I couldn’t help but giggle as I took the picture, and the girls also laughed along. Some other fans who were inside the store laughed a bit at Harry, but they didn’t figure out that it was actually him, or any of the other boys.

Later on, we met up with Simone and Josh. We rode a few rides at Nickelodeon Universe as well, including the Ferris Wheel and the Fairly Odd Coaster. Knowing Harry had a fear of rollercoasters, I didn’t force him to ride it, but he chose to ride it anyway. He ended up screaming and holding onto my hand tightly, which I didn’t mind at all. The second part, I mean.

After that adventure, we had lunch at Johnny Rocket’s and got dessert at Cupcake, which was obviously a cupcake for each of us. All in all, we had a good day together. And, Simone taped the whole time that we were with her on the video camera! We now have that to remember it, even though I think I’ll remember all of this easily.

The next morning, when I woke up, I had a huge smile on my face. I had dreamed about yesterday the night before. I couldn’t help it. It had been so much fun!

I stretched out a bit and threw on my Captain America t-shirt and jeans, also putting on my slippers. I grabbed my notebook from my desk and ran down the stairs, sliding into the kitchen in my slippers. “Morning, Mom,” I greeted her, smiling. I grabbed a food scoop and filled it for my kitten, Shadow, before dumping it into the food bowl. Shadow ran at the food bowl and began eating as I turned to Mom.

“Good morning, Anastasia,” she responded.

I cringed at the use of my full name. “Mom, just call me Ana. Everyone does,” I reminded her.

“Anastasia is much more formal,” Mom chided. “Wouldn’t you prefer to be a more formal lawyer when you grow up?”

“That’s the problem,” I mumbled under my breath.

“What was that?” Mom asked me.

“Nothing, Mom, nothing at all. Where’s Dad?” I inquired, changing the subject.

“He’s sleeping. He took the night shift at the plant last night, so he’s really tired,” Mom said. “While you’re studying, don’t bother him, okay?”

I stared at her. “Wait, what?” I asked.

“You have to study. You’ve lost focus on your work this summer thanks to hanging out with the girls and with those boys-,” she began, but I cut her off.

“You mean my friends.”

“Yes, Anastasia, your friends are distracting you. You need to focus now. This fall you’re going to be a senior in high school, and then the year after that, you’re off to law school!” Mom sat down at the kitchen table while I did as well. “Sweetheart, all I want is what is best for you, and your friends are holding you back.”

I just stared at her. I knew I should still be studying, since I was planning on going to college after all. But that didn’t mean that I couldn’t hang out with my friends and boyfriend! That wasn’t fair at all! “No, they’re not. They’re all supportive of the fact that I know what I want to be. And that’s not being a lawyer,” I told her.

“But you always dreamed of being a lawyer,” she began.

“No, Mom. That was your dream, not mine. I want to write, and let people around the world read what I have to say.” I picked up my notebook and showed it to her. “This isn’t my first notebook. I’ve filled tons of them, each brimming with ideas of stories for people to read.” I stood up now, and said, “Mom, if you don’t mind, I’m just going to grab a bagel and head out.”

Now Mom was angry. “Anastasia Maria Reynolds, go to your room! And study! You’re not going out at all today!”

I responded as calmly as I could, “Fine, whatever you say. I’ll be in my room blaring KDWB while I work then.” I put my cinnamon crunch bagel on a small plate, tucked my notebook under my arm, and started up to my room before Mom could even say a word. Shadow followed me up the stairs, and I was glad to have someone on my side.

----------

Hidden from your eyes,

before the friendship we shared.

But in that janitor’s closet in Chicago,

I could tell that you cared.

You didn’t care that my shoes were missing,

Or that I was stained red.

All you cared about was me,

and that was all that needed to be said.

Your music saved a friendship,

and taught me to be me.

Even with all the pressures,

you kept me in sight of who I could be.

So I wanted to say thank you,

and I’m scared of what you’ll think if this is true.

What would you say if I said,

I was falling in love with you?

I poured out my feelings onto the paper, my pencil scribbling to get it written down fast enough. As I wrote down the last lines of the poem, my heart started to beat harder in my chest. What if he found it? What would he think?

I pushed away my worries and ripped the page out of my notebook carefully, the sound deafened slightly by the end of Carry On by fun. playing on the radio. I folded it up and placed it underneath my pillow to hide it for the time being.

I looked over towards my closet and saw the cardboard cutout of my boyfriend peering out at me. I got up immediately and hid it again. My cousins Ryan and Lisa had gotten it for me as a joke, since they knew how much I liked Harry. Now that I was dating him, however, I couldn’t let him see it. Not now, not ever.

Shadow was hidden in the back of the closet there as well, and I bent down, petting the top of her head gently. “Hey, baby,” I said softly. Usually she hid from multiple people being in the house, and also she was scared of Mom right now, so she probably felt safer in there.

Later on that day, I was still working in my room. I hadn’t done much studying, partially as an act of protest, but mainly since I had gotten another new story idea and I needed to write it as soon as I possibly could.

As I wrote, I heard the doorbell ring, but I didn’t move. I just stayed at my desk as one of my parents went to get it, continuing to write and listen to Olly Murs. Then, I heard my dad call out for me, “Ana? There’s a boy here to see you!”

I stood up and headed towards the door. “Coming, Daddy!” I called, opening my door and running downstairs.

I found Harry was waiting there for me. He smiled when I came downstairs. “Hi love,” he said.

“Hey,” I said with a smile on my face. “I thought you were going to hang out with the rest of the group today.”

“Yeah, but then Lucy told me about the phone call she had with your mum, and how she seemed angry when she told her where you were, so I was concerned,” he answered.

“Well, thanks. I’m fine, well, now at least. I just had a fight with Mom, that’s all,” I explained.

“Well, could you come out then?”

“I can’t. Mom wants me to study,” I answered with a sigh. Then my smile returned. “But I would appreciate a study buddy,” I added hopefully.

“I’d love to,” Harry said with a grin. The two of us headed towards the stairs together, smiling.

“Ana?” My dad asked. “You know, this boy looks a lot like that cardboard cutout you have in your room.”

A blush crept into my cheeks. Not saying a word, I ran up the stairs and flopped down onto my bed, embarrassed. Harry followed me into my room and sat down next to me, his eyebrows raised slightly and a smirk on his face. “So, you have a cardboard cutout of me?” He asked with a laugh.

“You weren’t supposed to find out about that…” I mumbled; my cheeks still red with a blush.

“Aw, don’t worry about it, Ana. I think it’s kind of cute,” he assured me, giving me a soft peck on the cheek. “So, what do you need to study?”

“To be entirely honest with you, I was barely studying as an act of protest. But I wanted to hang out with someone, and Mom wouldn’t let me leave the house.” I sat up slowly, trying my best to stop a head rush.

Harry laughed and nodded. “I see. So, then, what do you want to do?”

“Hmm…we could play a game,” I suggested. “Never Have I is always fun.” Harry nodded, smiling. I got up, smiling back at him. “I’ll get some Kool-Aid to drink during the game.” I left the room and walked down to the kitchen.

After making a batch of Tropical Punch, I walked back up to my room. I found Harry was still sitting on my bed, but was reading a small piece of paper. My poem!

He had a smile on his face as he read, and I heard him chuckle softly when he reached a part he thought was funny. As he kept on reading it, I slowly stepped inside and shut the door behind me. “I…ah…brought the water,” I said softly as he reached the end of the poem. He looked up at me and smiled, patting the spot on the bed next to him.

As I sat down, Harry said, “I read your poem.”

Before he could say anything else, I blurted, “You weren’t supposed to see that. It was me pouring out my feelings and you weren’t supposed to read it.” I bit my lip.

“Hey, it’s okay,” Harry reassured me. “I happen to think it’s really cute.”

I felt another blush creep into my cheeks. “Aw, thank you Harry,” I said softly.

Harry smiled and kissed the top of my head. “You’re welcome, love. You know, you really have a talent for writing. I knew that you loved it, but I didn’t know you were so good.”

I smiled a bit. “Well, writing’s the thing I’m best at. That and figure skating,” I told him. I then pointed at a poster on my wall of my favorite pair skaters, Meryl Davis and Charlie White. “Those two are pretty much my skating idols. Those two and Evan Lysacek are my skating idols.”

Harry nodded with a smile. “Well, then, sometime I’ll have to see you skate and read some more of your writing,” he said. He folded the paper with my poem on it and offered it back to me.

I shook my head and pushed the paper back into his hand. “Nah, you keep it. I wrote it for you anyway,” I told him with a smile. “Let’s play the game now, shall we?”

Harry grinned and nodded, tucking the paper into his pocket. “Okay…never have I won the Elm Street Championship Soccer Game,” he said. I drank some of my Kool-Aid thanks to that.

“Never have I performed at the Olympics,” I responded, causing him to drink. When he had sipped his Kool-Aid, he raised his eyebrows at me again. I just shrugged. “I never said they couldn’t be obvious questions.”

Harry chuckled and nodded. He continued the game by saying, “Never have I owned a cardboard cutout of the person I’m dating.” He laughed, while I rolled my eyes and took a drink. When I rolled my eyes, he commented, “What? You never said they couldn’t be obvious!”

“That was just an easy shot, cheeky boy,” I retorted with a smile. “Never have I kissed someone in a janitor’s closet.” We both drank to that, smiling. Then, I decided to add,” By the way, I just want to say thank you again. You don’t understand how much you and the boys being here have helped me and the girls out.”

“Ana, I’m glad we came too,” Harry said, leaning in and giving me a soft, quick peck on the lips. Both of us smiled through the kiss. When we pulled away softly and naturally, we were both still smiling at each other. “I’m glad I got to meet you, love.”

“I’m glad I got to meet you too,” I said truthfully. “Should we get back to the game?” I asked after a long pause.

“Yeah, sure,” Harry said with a grin. “Okay…never have I…played this game with a handsome lad from Cheshire,” he said cheekily. I just rolled my eyes and took a sip.

“Smooth, Harry,” I said with a tiny laugh. “Never have I…” I began, but I couldn’t think of anything, so I just went with the obvious. “Never have I…loved cats.” I shrugged, and quickly took a drink of Kool-Aid before he even had the chance to take another sip.

After Harry had sipped his drink, he looked at me. “I didn’t know you were a cat person,” he observed.

“Yeah, I love them. Shadow is my little baby girl. She’s hiding in the closet right now,” I said, motioning to the closet door. “Shadow, please come out,” I said softly.

Slowly, Shadow crept out of my closet and over to me. I gently picked her up into my arms, kissing the top of her head. “Hi, baby girl,” I said softly again. As I held her up, I looked at Harry. “This is Shadow,” I said.

“Hi, Shadow,” Harry said with a smile. Shadow stretched out and rubbed her head against Harry’s arm, marking him.

“She likes you already,” I told him. “She can tell you like cats, I guess, and that you’re a good person.”

Harry smiled at me. “Well, that’s good that I’ve been accepted by your cat.” I kept holding Shadow as the doorbell rang again.

“Daddy, could you get that, please? I’m kind of being held down by Shadow!” I called to Dad.

“Sure, sweetheart!” Dad answered. I smiled, and kept holding Shadow, resting my head on Harry’s shoulder while he wrapped an arm around my shoulders. We stayed there for a little while, just enjoying each other’s company as the radio played behind us. It had now switched to Lego House by Ed Sheeran.

I listened to the lyrics of the song, smiling happily as I stayed in Harry’s arms. Then, the door opened to reveal Lucy. “Hey, are you guys going to come out? Ana, your mom isn’t mad at you anymore,” Lucy told me.

“She’s not?” I asked.

“Well, she’s letting you out of the room. I’m not sure if that means she’s not mad at you or not,” she shrugged. “So, are you coming?”

I looked up at Harry, who shrugged. “Yeah, I guess we can come out,” I answered.

“Perfect. Come on,” Lucy said. As I put Shadow down and stood up, Harry did as well. Lucy looked over at the poster of Meryl and Charlie. “Hey, why do you have a picture of Samwise on your wall?” she asked. Lucy was also a big Lord of the Rings fan.

I sighed, slapping my forehead. “Ugh. It’s not Samwise!” I groaned, but I couldn’t help smiling. Harry just laughed, and the three of us walked out of my room, smiles on our faces.

A/N So, what did you all think? Ana had a bit of a screaming match with her mom there, didn't she? And she and Harry got to know each other better!

I know this one was kind of a filler chapter, but I thought it was cute!
