Time for bed

It was a quiet night in Estelle Manor. Malak had offered Alexander a chance to move from the Estelle manor, onto a spot of land not far off from the current house. He tasked him with mapping out the land, so he could manage the house more efficiently. The time was getting late, and the coffee was only doing so much. He dipped his quill, adding a fireplace to each bedroom. Soon he would need to end out invitations. Malak gave him a list of overpopulated manors that he could collect roommates from. There was even a pair of cousins on the list. That sounded sort of fun. Having family was nice. Perhaps getting them together would be comforting.

A rumble of thunder warned them that Malak ordered a storm watering the hedge maze. Tonight it would rain. His poor Hedwig would not like that. The rain always gave him a sore leg. He gave a big yawn that he tried to suppress, but once the yawns came, it was a spiral for sleep. There was no stopping it. He opened the window and poured the coffee that was keeping him going outside. As he was closing the housing portfolio, he heard a pair of shoes clicking their way into the charting room. When he turned around, it was the more docile Bishop brother. He stood up knowing he wanted help. Hedwig was probably the trouble. Whenever poor Hedwig was in a rut, it was his job to help.

"Hedwig fell asleep at his desk again." Haytham said. Alexander grinned, and stood up to help the older one into bed. Hedwig couldn't fall asleep at his desk. If he did, his leg would be in horrible pain for several days. He went upstairs, and sure enough Hedwig was slumped over his desk, a pen in his hand, and a book dangling over the floor from the other. Sometimes Hedwig was just too much for him. He hid a snicker, and walked over to the bed, to pull back his blanket. He walked over, and took the book, placing a book mark in it. He then put the pen back on it's stand, and removed Hedwig's hat. He gently lifted his arms, leading the taller man to stand up. He didn't even have the energy to open his eyes, as Alexander took a shoulder and his palm leading him slowly to the bed.

"It's right underneath you." He whispered. Hedwig sat down, and kept his eyes closed as Alexander got him ready for bed. Alexander took Hedwig's shoes and socks off, and took away his coat, and vest. The jabbot came off, and he gently laid the man down. Once he was in bed, he covered him up, and blew out his candle. He quietly put everything away as to not wake Hedwig up.

He quietly closed the door, and nodded to Haytham that all was taken care of. Haytham stared at Alexander as he walked to his own room. He felt Haytham's eyes on him. He spoke up. "What are you thinking about, dear boy?" He asked looking at him. He sat down at his bedroom table. Haytham's eyes we're transfixed on the one that was taking off his gold wig, revealing curled hair underneath. He placed his wig on a wig stand with the hat overtop. He asked a question Alexander didn't expect catching him off guard.

"Why do you always help my brother without being asked?"

The taller one froze taking off his coat and vest. He thought for a while about how to best answer that. He then came up with the best answer he could. "Everybody deserves the help of an older brother, now and then." He said hanging up his outer garments. He placed his buckle shoes at the foot of his bed. He then sat down next to Haytham. The younger one sighed. "You know he'll never thank you for it." Hatham knew this from personal experience himself. Alexander smirked and tipped Haytham's hat slightly. "I know, lad. I don't do it for recognition or to be thanked. I do it because your brother needs it." He said looking down at his socks. "I know he won't change, but he deserves the best from me. I worry for him. Who'll help him after I move out?" Haytham wanted to say nobody but he wouldn't weigh that truth on Alexander now. Especially with his moving out coming so quickly. He hugged the taller one and left his room. As he passed Hedwig's room, he growled. He felt his left eye start to leak.

"Ingrate."
