Medz's POV

Medz woke up to Dino shaking him violently. Medz sat up from the bed and rubbed his eyes, "What is it, Dino..?" He asked, his voice still tired. Dino was enthusiastic, jumping up and down like he was having a sugar rush. "You CANNOT believe what I saw, Medz!!" Dino squealed, grabbing Medz's wrist and dragging him out of the house and at the village they lived in. Dino kept dragging Medz until they got to the village well. "Umm, Dino. What are we doing here?" Medz asked, but his question was immediately answered when Dino ran over and jumped into the well, which nobody used in about a year. "DINO!" He yelled, running over and looking into the well. To his luck, he heard Dino's voice say: "Don't worry, I'm okay! Just need to get the thing." So Medz waited for about a minute until he heard Dino say something again, "Hey! Could you lower the bucket?" Medz lowered the bucket, looking back at the oncoming villagers side-eyeing him. Dino had a reputation of doing very crazy things, so much so that Medz was surprised he hasn't jumped off a cliff at this point. Medz raised the bucket and saw Dino holding on for dear life, clasping something in his hands. Dino jumped off and landed on his face, but held up a thumbs up before getting up. "Here is the thing I was talking about!" Dino said, showing it to Medz.

It was a pretty small necklace, with a kite-shaped gemstone that was blood red. "Are you sure this isn't gonna posses me the second I touch it?" Medz asked, taking a step back from the necklace. "Hey, don't worry. I'm holding it, aren't I?" Dino said, tossing it around in his hands. Dino also had a reputation of being very smart and intelligent, so he can outsmart anyone and have a good point in everything, and the addition that Medz wasn't really the brightest person. "Shit. You're right. Well, still I'm not touching it." Medz admitted, taking a closer look at the necklace. He noticed that it was faintly glowing, with a very faint radiant sound. "Fine, if you want to be stubborn, Medz." Dino joked, which made Medz let out a soft chuckle. "Fine, fine. I'll trust the creepy necklace, but if I get possessed, it's your fault." Medz said, making Dino laugh. They knew how to make each other laugh, and they've been doing it for like 3 years. A few months ago Dino did tell him about the war between someone named Socks and Meme, he then ran away a few weeks ago to protect himself from the dangers of the war. Dino also told Medz about his suspicion against someone named Laff, who was a British person who probably planned to kill Meme. Dino was still sad about leaving, but Medz was here for him.

Always.

They spent most of the day talking and making jokes about the other villagers there. Then they joked about how they met: Basically, Medz crash landed near the village and met Dino there, and they soon became the bestest of friends.
After talking for a bit, Dino face calmed down and turned serious. "Hey, Medz," Dino said, looking serious as he looked at him. At first, Medz was confused, but then replied, "Umm, yeah?" Dino still looked serious, but had a hint of sadness in his face, "I want you to promise me something. I wanted to do last night but I got distracted." He said.
"What promise?" Medz asked.
"I want you to promise me, that when I die, you go without me." Dino said.
Silence.
"W-what?" Medz asked, still confused.
"Please, promise me that. When I die, please don't waste your life on me. Can you promise me that?"
Silence again. Medz didn't know what to say, he was surprised to even think about this right now, but he had to answer. So he said,

"I promise."

The day flew past, the moon already shining above the village. Medz still had Dino's promise wrapped around his mind, but he decided to ignore it for now.
Medz leaned on the well where Dino found the necklace, holding a can of root beer. He took a sip and noticed Dino walking towards him. "Hey, Medz. How about you go talk to the villagers, ey?" Dino asked, smiling softly. Medz smiled back and walked to the villagers. At first, Medz had a difficult time, but over time he was able to actually talk to them to the point where he was laughing his lungs out at funny jokes.
This lasted for about thirty minutes until he heard something.
A long bang. It then followed by a large gust of wind, and fire.
Medz flew forward, landing head first into a wooden booth. The only things he heard were the crackling fire, the ringing in his ears, and muffled screaming. He slowly got up, wincing in pain at the large piece of wood stabbed in his shoulder. He turned around and saw a large fire in the well.
DINO.
Medz ran over to the well, thousands of thoughts in his mind that he couldn't keep up with. He ran for what felt like forever until he got to the well, seeing Dino's body laying there. "DINOSAUR!!" He screamed, grabbing Dino and dragging him away from the fire, one thought repeating in his head.

Once he was away from the fire, he looked at Dino who had the necklace on his neck, lifeless. Medz had tears in his eyes that rolled down his cheeks. He then started to cry, loudly and pathetically, holding Dino's corpse in his arms. Why did this have to happen? Why did he have to see his home destroyed. Why did his friend have to die.
Another a minute of crying, he got up, wiping his tears away. He then leaned over and grabbed the necklace, to remember Dino. After a few more tears, he walked away, leaving the village and leaving Dino for good.

Im sorry Dino, I'll do what I promised.
I'll go without you.
