Nico, Jason and Reyna in university, Nico meeting will for the first time

——————————————

"That movie was absolute shit," Nico stated, stepping out of the theatres. He hadn't even wanted to go that night, but assumed that his friends would beg him until he came.

The strong smell of popcorn slowly disappeared as they hopped down the steps, and Nico jumped off the last couple steps,

"Ok it wasn't that bad, you're just insanely judgmental," Jason pointed his index finger right at Nico's nose, making him go cross eyed. Nico shoved his shoulder, irritated, but not arguing. Jason and Reyna laughed as he pouted, and then Jason exaggerated a shiver.

"It's fricking freezing out here, it's only November for gods sake!" He shrugged his denim jacket on and blew into his hands.

"It's not that cold, you're just a baby," Reyna mocked Jason, albeit she was putting her jacket on as well.

"That is a fact," Nico stated, laughing at his best friends. Jason faked offensive,

"Oh I see how it is, let's all team up on Jason until he cries," he waved his hands in the air, like jazz hands, and then looked both ways before crossing the intersection.
It was getting dark, just after sunset, and the college students hadn't eaten since lunch.

"God I'm starving," Nico shivered too, but hid it so Jason would say 'I told you so'.
"Do you think we could get some food before we head back to the apartment? I'm pretty sure we're out of food."

Nico, Jason and Reyna shared an apartment together, as they all were in their second year of university. Nico should've been studying right now, but, once again, he was forced to go to a shitty movie. They were so tight on money that they couldn't even afford the overpriced popcorn, arguably the best part of going to a movie.

"Yea, I'm hungry too, and I don't really feel like hearing you two complain all night, let me see whats close to us," Reyna said, pulling her phone out and squinted at the screen. Nico quickly grabbed onto her arm to help her weave around the traditional New York human traffic. All the stores signs around them were lighting up as it got dark.

"I'm really craving a burger of some sort," Jason put in, still rubbing and blowing into his bare hands. Nico rolled his eyes and handed him a small pair of black gloves. Jason scoffed,
"Where were you 2 minutes ago when I was complaining?"

"Letting you freeze," Nico replied, smirking and guiding his two friends around a huge group of humans.

"What type of friend are you?" Jason slipped on the gloves and glowered at the shorter boy. Nico shrugged,

"A funny one?"

"I agree," Reyna chuckled, clicking and squinting, bringing her phone unhealthily close to her eyes.

"Do you need my glasses over there Ra ra?" It was Reyna's turn to shoot a glare at the blonde boy, and then looked at Nico, who was watching the tennis match. Reyna and Jason had gone out for a bit during their first year after they graduated together, but decided to stop because they were better as friends.
They met nico right before the breakup, lonely and confused, and took him in. He had moved from Italy to go to this school- and to get away from the pain of his sisters death- and didn't know where he was going most of the time. Thankfully he had known a substantial amount of English after learning it for years and ask about where things were.
Now he was near perfect, and the only mistakes he made were accidentally sliding into Italian when he spoke to fast.
Their relationship, on the other hand, had gone back as friends, and there wasn't any tension anymore. Reyna discovered she was bi (and rather aggressively at a certain university party), and Jason had a new girlfriend named piper.

"Okay, who's up for Wendy's? It's less than a block away," Reyna shut off her phone and slid it in her jacket pocket. Since she had eyes again nico let go of her and put his hands in his pockets.

"Sounds good, I want french fries and chicken nuggets," Nico nodded, black hair falling into his face. He blew it away and narrowly avoided a business man talking angrily into his phone. A car honked to their left and Jason jumped.
His two friends laughed at him.

"You'd think I'd be used to that after living here for 4 years," Jason smiled bashfully, mentioning the fact he used to live in beautiful warm California,
"But yeah, I could go for some Wendy's," he agreed.

Reyna clapped her hands together,
"Perfect! Cheap and easy for us three budgeted students," her messy bun shook dangerously.
Nico shook my head and brushed his hair out of his eyes,

"You make it sound like we're broke,"

"Hate to break it to you Neeks, but we kind of are," Jason laughed bumping his shoulder, making him blush a bit, because it was true. Reyna directed us down another road, and Nico could see the Wendy's. His stomach growled in anticipation.

"Yea but..." he trailed off and then shrugged,
"Yeah never mind you're completely right."

"I always am," Jason raised his head and then sped walked over to the door of the Wendy's and held the door open for them.
Nico was instantly warm again with the heating of the fast food restaurant. It smelled like french fries and heaven.

The three friends entered the artificially lit area, stepping on black tiled floor and passing light green tiled walls over to a table at the back table. Half way there, Jason seemed to have a complete body spasm and immediately turned to face Nico, making strange gestures with his hands and eyes. Nico looked at him like he was insane, not understanding what he was trying to convey.

They got to the table, Jason and Nico sitting, facing the door they entered and Reyna across from them.

"Nico! Are you absolutely oblivious?!" Jason exclaimed, grabbing Nico by the shoulders. Nico's eyes widened in confusion, wondering what on earth he could have missed that was so important.

"Um, no? Yes? I'm confused why are you freaking out?" Nico was held square to Jason, and turned to face Reyna who just looked extremely amused.

"Nico!" He hissed,
"Hot boy!! We passed him and you were looking the other way! He's your type!" He exclaimed like it was extremely important. Nico wasn't really interested, because Jason thought all guys were his type and was constantly trying to point out possible guys to him- even though he was straight and very obviously didn't know Nico's type.

"Hm, that's cool," Nico pulled away and got his wallet out,
"Everyone give me your money for food I'll go order."

"Nico!! You don't even care!?" Jason complained shaking Nico's elbow, who rolled his eyes at Reyna. She was laughing at the scene.

"Not really," Nico replied, taking cash from Reyna.

"But he's realllyyy cut-"

"Fine, I'll look at him when I go up to get our food, ok? And then I'll tell you what I think when I get back," Nico opened his hand for Jason's money. It was handed to him, along with a satisfied smirk from the blonde.

Nico pushed up from his chair, and walked around, back towards the door, passing the boy he presumed Jason was freaking out about, but his head was down over his phone and facing opposite of the way nico was walking. He did had curly blonde hair and his bare arms were covered in freckles though. That scored a couple points.
He passed him slowly and snuck a peak at the strangers phone and saw him on Spotify, clicking onto the artist 'brand new' and the song 'Jesus christ'.
Triple points for music taste.

Nico made his way the counter, where there was no line, and ordered him and his friends food and payed.
He scrolled twitter while he waited, smirking at a tweet from Awsten Knight before he was called for the tray of food. He walked the same way back to his friends, and knocked his hip into a chair,

"Ah fuck," he cursed, and when he looked up again, he almost dropped the tray.
The mystery boy had put his phone down and was staring at nico, probably because he made a scene. But his eyes- they were incredible. Jason was right, he was fucking beautiful.
Nico cleared his throat and smiled bashfully, cheeks turning bright red.

"Are you okay?" The boy chuckled, one earbud out of his ear, that had a stud in it.

"Yeah- sorry, I'm fine," Nico stammered, and quickly went back over to his seat where Jason and Reyna were trying- and failing- not to laugh.

"You looked like an absolute idiot!" Jason wheezed, tears in his eyes. I slammed the tray down, and angrily passed out his friends food. My cheeks were hot.

"Hey that's mean Jason," Reyna was laughing too,
"He looked like a dork, theres a difference."

"Guys!" Nico whined, putting his face in his hands,
"That was so embarrassing, Cazzo," he cursed in Italian.

"But you saw him right?!" Jason exclaimed, excitedly tearing into his chicken burger.

"Oh I saw him alright, he's gorgeous," He complained.

"I told you so," Jason said with his mouth full, not even trying to savour the taste,
"He's definitely gay."

"How would you know, straight boy," nico huffed, shoving a chicken nugget in his mouth. Reyna was still attempting to stop laughing, and opened her Caesar salad, getting non fast food at a fast food place.

"Because I just do. I'm a mind reader," he pushed his gold framed glasses up on his nose, taking another bite of his food.
Nico wondered if he was joking at first, but then at his facial expression He realized he was joking. Sometimes his sarcasm confused him, and it annoyed him when Reyna understood and He had to overthink what he said.

"I can't just go talk to him though, that's terrifying," Nico dipped a fry into the sweet and sour sauce, something both Reyna and Jason hated.

"Of course you can," Reyna said,
"Just go up to him and say "you look like a stronzi, but date me?" Reyna was trying to pick up Nico's Italian curses, but never really said them right. He chuckled nonetheless.

"Yeah, take that sweet piece of ass for yourself," Jason added, looking disgusting, mouth open and full of food. Nico didn't understand what piper saw in him, even if he was one of Nico's best friends.

"But how?" Nico asked, shifting to look behind Reyna at the back of the mystery boys head. It was bobbing slowly to whatever was playing in his earbuds.

"Just go up and ask for his number, piece of cake!" Jason replied.

"But what if he isn't gay? Do I just apologize and walk away?"

"Well yeah, you gotta get a hot boyfriend somehow Nico, take a chance for gods sake," Reyna ate lettuce off her fork and then pointed it at him,
"I believe in you." She started to laugh.

"So should I do it now?" Nico asked tentatively.

"Yes, now, go," Jason shoved his shoulder. Nico blushed and stood up awkwardly, and made his way over to the table. The blonde mystery boy didn't realize nico was there.

"Um, hi, could I by any chance have your number?" Nico asked nervously, his fingers fidgeting and toes bouncing. The boy didn't even flinch, and Nico cursed, realizing the ear buds were in both ears.

He built up the courage and tapped his shoulder.
The strangers head shot up, curls flying, and his blue eyes met Nico's dark ones. He quickly pulled out both of his earbuds at the same time.

"Hi," he said smoothly, his voice sounding like something out of a movie, smooth like honey.

"Uh, hi," Nico rubbed the back of his neck and quickly glanced over at his friends who gave him large smiles and over-enthusiastic thumbs up.
"I was just wondering- you're really cute and I was wondering if I could maybe have your number?" Nico rambled quickly. He looked back at the boys eyes and saw they were amused.

"Oh sorry, I'm not gay," he was smiling like he had a secret. Nico's face dropped as well as his stomach. His cheeks burst into flames.

"Oh- I'm so sorry- it was just my friend said- and I thought-" Nico stuttered, trying to make sense, and then boy started laughing, making Nico stop, confused.

"I was kidding," he giggled, and a sense of relief settles over Nico, and then boy grabbed a pen from his bag and began writing on his napkin. He handed it to nico,
"I'm Will Solace, and I think you're cute too," he smiled brightly.

Nico's heart clenched and He almost imploded. He couldn't even think of something funny to say.

"I-I'm Nico. Di Angelo. Nico di Angelo," he managed to reply.

"I like your accent," Will winked.

"Th- oh, thank you," Nico looked down at the note and saw a phone number- Wills phone number- and a message saying to text him. He blushed again.

"Have a good night nico, you're friends look like they need you," he chuckled. Nico looked over at the two annoying humans he called friends who were excitedly waving him over. He wanted to kill them for interrupting this.

"Uh, Yeah, um, talk to you soon?" Nico asked hopefully.

"You know it," Will smiled, and Nico walked off, like he was in a daze, over to his deranged friends who continued to freak out over the fact he just got a amazingly cute boys number-but really nico was freaking out more.
