( ★ ) Figure skating was a sport loved by many in the Edina, Minnesota area. It brought hundreds of little girls joy and happiness as they twirled around the ice. For years, the Volkov skating club had been the best of the best in Edina. Most parents trusted the owner and head coach there and trusted that their children were going to be in great hands.

If only they had truly been right about that. When Daniella James brought her five year old daughter in for her very first day on the club team, she didn't know that she would be leaving her daughter with a monster. She didn't realize that her daughter was crying in her bedroom every night from the amount of pain she was in. She didn't realize that Anastasia Volkov, owner and coach, was behind everything.

The volkov skating club had been a toxic place for years, people just chose to not say anything about it. And that's why there were still girls being abused by Anastasia and her staff.

( ★ ) Adelynn James fell in love with the ice the moment her parents took her to the rink in preschool. Her tiny skates slid smoothly across the ice as she held her parents hands, loving how the ice made her feel as she slid across it. It made her feel like no matter what problem she had, the ice could take it away. From that moment on, she was a figure skater. The sport meant everything to her during her first two years, she spent every single day skating for hours upon end.

Although, her opinion on the sport changed shortly after her second year with the Volkov skating club. She had noticed during her first year the amount of pain she would be in after a practice, but she chose to ignore it. The sport meant everything to her and she wouldn't let anything change that. She finally started to notice the abuse after she was forced to skate and compete through an injury. She had hurt her ankle during practice and even though she could hardly stand, her coach pushed her to do her routine that weekend.

That was the first time Adelynn knew she was in trouble. She knew better than to say anything about the abuse she was experiencing at the club, knowing that she would be nothing without her coach. It hurt her more and more every day, knowing that she would leave with bruises scattering her body and pain that couldn't even go away with pain killers. She watched in silence as her teammates experienced the same exact pain she did. Addie knew it was the wrong this to do, to watch her friends go through the same abuse she did, but she couldn't bring herself to go to the police or her parents about it. She was terrified that they wouldn't believe her. And she couldn't handle not being believed.

It wasn't until her twelfth birthday that she knew she had to leave the organization and find another club. The moment her innocence was taken from her was the moment she knew that she couldn't let herself be in pain anymore. She finally started to realize that she needed to be somebody to someone before it was too late.

( ★ ) Adam banks' life seemed to be perfect to those that lived outside of the banks household. To the outside world, the banks family was your average rich family with two happily married parents and four children. To those on the inside, the banks family was anything but perfect.

Phillip banks was nothing but a drunk abusive business man. He would go to work, come home, get drunk, and beat his children and wife to a pulp. Most of his anger was towards his two sons, Chris and Adam, but it did go as far as his daughters, Averie and Callista. His wife would step in for her children whenever she could but with her illness, it started to get incredibly hard to defend not only her children, but herself. When her oldest left for high school, she knew the banks family was done for. She couldn't defend herself and children without someone her husbands size.

Adam grew up trying to defend his sisters, brother, and mom. He was always forcing himself to take care of others to ignore his own pain. He already hurt from hockey, his father pushing him so hard that he could hardly walk without grimacing his pain, but it only got worse when he got home and his father took his anger out on him. The thoughts that ran through adams head every single second of every day were starting to worry him and he truly didn't know how much longer he could handle it. The moment he heard about the redrawing of the districts, he knew he finally had a chance to get away from the hawks and their toxic environment.

If only things were that easy for the banks boy. If only he could finally trust people again and finally become somebody to someone.

( ★ ) Adelynn and Adam were the epitome of soulmates. from day one, they knew that they would always have each other, no matter what. They are someone to each other and that was enough for them. Although, neither one of them knew what was truly happening to the other. Addie thought Adam was just being clumsy and Adam thought the same for Addie. They had zero clue that they are both experiencing the same exact pain just in different ways.

The two were different in so many ways, yet they were so much alike that it was scary. The way they push their own feelings down deep inside them so they can help others. The way they care about everyone else before themselves. The way they enjoy their sports and would do anything to keep playing them. Everything about them was so alike but they both were so different.

They remained friends for years and years, completely ignoring the glances they would give each other when no one else was around. They ignored the feeling they had whenever they hugged or held hands. They ignored everything because they both were too scared to make anything out of it.

Although, they soon realized they were better together. They were better being somebody to each other. Being someone to Adam banks was all Adelynn James ever wanted and being someone to Adelynn James was all adam banks ever wanted.
