When we walked down to the kitchen the boys were already sitting around the table waiting for us.
"Everything okay?" Keenon asked.
"Yea just had to do a pod swap" I replied
"I'm so glad I didn't get screwed like you two did" Keenon laughed.
"You got lucky I mean what are the odds no one else has it but two out of three kids got screwed."
"Mhm and to celebrate my good fortune I'm gonna drink this entire bottle of mountain dew." he said holding up the large bottle.
"Where did you even get that I don't keep shit like that in the house neither of us can actually have it, it's all sugar "
"I know I came prepared I hit the store on my way home." he got up and walked over to the pantry "see fully stocked" he opened the door to reveal a shelf full of cupcakes, donuts, candy, soda, and basically everything else we really aren't supposed to have. I only keep things like that around for times when one of us has low levels.
I walked over and slammed the door shut "Jesus shit Keenon why do you do these things. Keep that shit away from Jared I swear to god you make him sick and I'll end your fucking life"
"Chill out Dan I'm not five anymore you don't have to do that I'm a big boy I know how to take care of myself. I know better I'm not looking forward to reliving my ketone experience."
Keenon put his arm around me and we walked back to the table. "Listen Dani I'm not a complete moron I'm not gonna hand him a pixie stick and think it's a brilliant plan but you need to lighten the fuck up kid he's fifteen not five."
"He's right Daniella chill out he's not stupid he knows what to do" Max said when i sat back down next to him.
"Whatever let's just eat dinner I'm done talking about this...so Jared how was practice?"
"It was alright...Im starting tomorrow." he said smiling proudly.
"That's great sweetheart what time is the game?"
"It starts at 9:15 but I need you to drop me off at 8:00"
"Okay I'll wake you up at 7:00 then so get to bed early tonight you're gonna need the rest. Make sure you pack your bag up tonight so we aren't rushing in the morning."
"Yes mom" he said sarcastically. I just gave him a you better watch yourself look and he quickly apologized. We spent the rest of dinner talking about random things telling jokes and just fucking around it was a good night. After dinner I was cleaning up and Max came into the kitchen and hopped up on the counter while I did the dishes.
"Hey you gonna be okay with him for the night?"
"Honestly probably not I kinda low key lost it on him this afternoon."
"What the hell happened I have literally been in the next room all day what have I missed?"
"He came in here trying to act like everything was fine between us and I told him straight up it was gonna take a lot more than a half assed apology to make up for what he did to me."
"I mean you're not wrong he put you through a lot and you shouldn't forgive him right away but eventually I think you should try and work things out between the two of you. Believe it or not he does actually really care about you. We were 15 and stupid back then we've grown up and now he realises how bad he fucked up just give him a chance it doesn't have to be now but hopefully soon."
"I'm sure eventually I'll cave but for right now I'm gonna continue to be bitter. Are you staying tonight?"
"Do you want me too?"
"Yes"
"Then yes I'm staying"
"You are the bestest friend in the world, go upstairs I'll meet you in a little bit"
He hugged me and turned to go upstairs I quickly finished cleaning up and headed up after him. When I got up to my room Max was already in bed. I quickly changed into pjs and got under the blankets.
"Why the fuck is it always so cold in your room"
"Because it's always better to be cold than hot. You can always put on an extra blanket or a sweater but you can't peel off your skin."
"I mean I guess but still just because you're a human furnace doesn't mean the rest of us are."
"Jesus fucking christ Max come here and quit your bitching" I said cuddling up to him.
"How the fuck is it possible that you are this hot?!?" he said putting his arm around me.
"I'm actually pretty cold... no regulatory capabilities remember. My body temp just does as it pleases." i replied
He laughed shaking his head "It's not natural."
"Natural or not it is what it is just shut up and go with it that's what I always do."
"Yea and that's why you're always so sick."
"Shut up and go to bed" I whispered slowly drifting off to sleep.
