Time went by and Fergus became quieter with each passing day. He was still grieving, in silence he found solitude, but the screams that kept him awake at night were chased away by Jo's colorful cartoons and apple juice.

Ashton had apologized quietly, for crushing Fergus' fingers. The teen had said nothing, there was absolutely no way he could forgive something like crushing fingers. Braxton hadn't even been trying to hide his dislike towards Fergus. It was safe to say the feelings were mutual.

Leah was avoiding him, like usual. His fingers, even though slightly scarred, were almost completely healed. Nick had questioned him about it, saying a week was too little time for someone's bruises to heal. Fergus had shrugged, making sure to say as little as possible.

They were going to pay.

Fergus' rage grew with his silence. However, he tried to keep a sharp mind. By day he made sure to keep eye on Mrs. Lennon in the garage. She didn't do anything there except keep the workers on their toes. Fergus so happened to be one. He had tried to sneak away once, just to take flowers to his friends grave. He missed him.

The plan had failed and he had found himself in heaps of trouble once again. It was safe to say luck did not like the teenager very much. That evening, Fergus had been commanded to stand near the wall with his nose and feet against it.

It didn't seem hard at first, but as minutes ticked by, he could feel his body start trembling of exhaustion.

No one was there to save him.

Another bitter day passed, and Fergus had a plan.

He was going to figure out what the Lennons were hiding, then he'd notify the police of it and of child abuse. Sure, he knew he was probably going to end up on the streets, but everything was better than this monotone life. And then, he would find the murderer of his best friend.

It was six in the morning when Fergus was gently tugging a red blanket over snoring Jo. He sighed, rubbing his red, tired eyes as he turned the muted TV off. Outside the sun was slowly rising, letting Fergus know he did not have much time left.

He listened carefully for any kind of movements in the house, when he didn't hear any, he made his way towards the basement. He licked his lips and combed his fingers through his mess of a hair anxiously. His green eyes flickered around the darkness.

How ironic, he had hated darkness, but now it seemed to cover him of whatever dangers were lurking in this household.

He carefully wrapped his pale fingers around the doorknob, holding his breath.

Locked, it was locked. He furrowed his brows, swallowing as he gave it another tug, stronger this time. The door came off its hinges, startling the teen as he stumbled back, holding the door from its knob. He held it up, leaning against the wall as he madly looked around, holding his breath in fear someone had heard him. As seconds ticked by and he heard no angry mumbling or footsteps heading his way, he let out a shaky breath. His green orbs flickered at the door in his hands, the rays of morning light shining on it. It was either a very weak door or he had had an adrenaline surge. He looked over the hinges, sighing in relief when he realized it was easily fixed. However, he left the door leaning against the wall when he caught a funny smell. He had expected a basement filled with marijuana plants or something along the lines. Instead, the stairs were dimly lit and he could smell something bitter yet sweet.

Hesitantly, the teenager stepped on the stairs, getting deeper into the mess he had no way out of.

His feet carried him down and he looked it in wonder. There was some kind of machinery that seemed to have been built for Nick to carry him up and down.

The basement was surprisingly larger, it was filled with tech and colorful vitals. There were humming computers and data running over the screens. Fergus was never into tech, he preferred the old, dusty cards.

He was startled by how new everything looked. Were they using the money from the garage to study whatever they were studying down the basement? He was startled by the fact what he saw on one of the computers. He narrowed his eyes, clicking on a file with his name on it. Fergus froze, reading over the information. There was everything from his height to blood pressure on it. There were attached some files of the accident with Axis. He had forgotten how to breathe, in fact, he had forgotten everything.

He was back there, back on that day where everything changed. Back on the day when he hadn't been able to save Remington.  He could almost smell the dust that lingered on his skin and the blood that covered his hands and knees. He could almost feel the cuts on his knees and the bruises on his hands.

"I am surprised you had managed to keep off from here for so long." Startled, he turned around, crouched and ready to fight if needed. His eyes landed on Nick, looking at him calmly. "What the fuck is that!? You are nuts okay? you need some serious help!" He hissed, his eyes stung with unshed tears and his hand shook as he pointed at the screen. Nick did not even spare him another glance as he rolled himself behind the screen, ignoring the trembling boy. Fergus watched with confusion as two shadows made their way down the stairs. Ash and Brax.

"It was for your own safety, boy. we are not the bad ones in this story." Fergus ignored the lump in his throat as he looked at the twins suspiciously. "My safety? I am a random kid, you are a psycho and you have some weird fetish with orphans--" He couldn't' even finish the rambling as Nick snapped his fingers, making Brax attack Fergus. He grunted, not having expected the sudden attack from his side. He tried to bit the shorter of the two, feeling rage burning in his heart. Brax' blue eyes were just as furious, he was a lot stronger than he looked. Fergus tried to push the brute away, but he just seemed so helpless in his grip. He didn't know where he was dragged to, but he made sure to struggle as much as he could, trying to break the expensive looking tech when he was suddenly pushed down. He jumped up, some kind of cell door closing on his face as Braxton's smug face sneered at him from the outside."What the heck you people?! let me go!" He hissed, gripping the cell bars, how had he missed it before? Panic clouded his vision and he could feel his breathing quicken.

"Calm down, Fergus. Everything will soon make sense. Ashton?"

The teen's breath hitched as he felt something prickle his skin. He growled inhumanly and snapped his glowing orbs on Ashton who looked at him apologetically. He noticed the empty syringe in his hand, empty with whatever liquid had been in it. Fergus cussed at him, his angry words slurring. He could vaguely hear Braxton chuckle darkly, he threw himself against the cage, trying to grip the blue-eyed boy standing a couple of feet from the cage. "What--what are y-you doing to me! I can--can't see straight, stop it, make it stop!" he tried to command them, however, his voice sounded more like a growl and his vision was hazy.

"Calm down, Fergus, tell me how exactly are you feeling right now?"

"I'm going to kill you!"

Nick nodded thoughtfully, his eyes flickering between Fergus and the computer screen. The boy panted, feeling beads of sweat covering his forehead as he slid down the cage bars, refusing to look the smug face of Braxton. "That didn't happen to us, did it? What's going on with him?" Ashton asked, concern flashing in his blue orbs as he stepped closer. Fergus didn't seem to hear anything as he had curled into himself, making inhuman noises under his breath. Nick hummed, frowning as he looked at the vitals. He seemed to be rather surprised as he turned towards the twins. "His body is fighting it. This is extraordinary! Ashton, go notify my wife and Braxton you guard the cell, we don't want any surprises, do we." He said,  wheeling closer to the flinching teenager in their holding cell. His curiosity perked up, the kid was definitely something remarkable.
