Well, now I named the chapter betrayal and you should probably know why because of the last two chapters. Again, it's a fan fiction so this scene hadn't really happened on the original book.

John's POV

John didn't know what to do, what to say, what to feel. He just looked at Eilene, confused by her behavior. He watched as she took her Greencloak off and looked at them with a cold unreadable expression. Then she wore the Amber Leopard.

"Eilene?" George asked, uncertainly.

She said nothing and before anyone could do anything, she had dashed towards the door.

"Quick," Olvan commanded, "Stop her!"

John was already running. He could feel his senses sharpening as he ran as fast as a wolf. He caught a glimpse of the others running. He ran after her as she dodged other Greencloaks who looked at them confused. She burst open a door which led outside. Just then, Greencloaks appeared on the other side, making her stop. She was trapped, no where to go. There were Greencloaks on both sides. Then she stepped on the battlements, below her was the sea.

"Eilene-" John started.

"Move one more step and i'm gone," Eilene said coldly.

Just then, a huge eagle flew towards them and landed on the battlements beside Eilene. On the eagle, John assumed was the Reptile King.

"Shane," the Niloan girl, Abeke hissed.

"Good to see you again, Greencloaks," Shane sneered.

"What's going on here?" Eric demanded.

"Haven't you figured it out?" Shane said, "Eilene, is with us. Eilene is with the Conquerors. She betrayed us like how Meilin betrayed you but the only difference is, she knew all along."

"W-What?" John stammered, "But how? W-Why?"

"Have you ever wondered how Eilene had easily put Ursa into passive state?" Shane asked, "Like the rest, she drank the Bile."

"No," Hope whispered.

Eilene didn't say anything. Her face gave nothing away. John was feeling it again, betrayal. First, his father betrayed them by siding with the Conquerors and now Eilene, who knew all along, had betrayed them. Had she really meant what she said last night or was that all a fake?

"We've warned you to stay out the way, Greencloaks," Shane said, darkly.

Eilene looked at them one last time before climbing up the Great Eagle, Haliwir. This was the first time John had seen a Great Beast, besides the Four Fallen, but he didn't care. He watched as the eagle flew into the air. He watched until they disappeared. Not once did she glance back at him.

Shane's POV

They rode in silence as they flew back to Stetroil. Deep inside, he felt regret and sadness. He felt hurt when he saw the hurt in Abeke's eyes when she got betrayed. Seeing how Eilene had done the same thing.

"I guess your sister, Drina is dead now," Eilene spoke up, suddenly.

"Yes," Shane choked out, "Yes, she's dead."

It was silent again until Eilene said, "Was it really worth it?"

Shane was startled by her question and said nothing.

"Was it worth it to give up your sister's life just to save your kingdom?" Eilene went on, "Was it worth it to betray Abeke to save your kingdom? Was it all worth it, to kill everyone and betray everyone just to save your kingdom, to save Stetroil?"

"I..." Shane's voice trailed of, "I don't know..."

"Then why are you doing it?" Eilene asked again, "Why give up those you love just to save your kingdom?"

"Those Greencloaks punished Stetroil," Shane fired, "They cut Stetroil off from the rest of Erdas because of the fault of King Feliandor."

"But was it right?" she said, "King Feliandor made his mistake and the Greencloaks made their mistake by cutting Stetroil off. But could there have been another way? Another way to fix what had been broken?"

"You wouldn't understand," he replied.

"So you don't think I have also betrayed those I really care for?" Eilene said, "You think I'm not hurt?"

Shane looked at her in surprise. She didn't look like she was hurt but then again she was always good at hiding her true emotions.

"I understand why you did what you did," she went on, "You've done what you thought was best."

"Sometimes," Shane admitted, "I wonder if I did the right thing."

"You'll find it out soon enough," Eilene replied.

John's POV

John was fighting another Conqueror with the rest of the Keepers. He looked around but he can't seem to find Eilene. She wasn't on the Greencloaks side and she wasn't on the Conquerors either.

John sat up, gasping. He looked around and saw that he was on his bed in Greenhaven. Ever since Eilene had betrayed them, he kept on having the same dream. The dream he had when he was wearing the Silver Wolf.

What did the dream mean? Was Eilene really going to die?

He got up and walked out of his room with Rusty right behind him. Tomorrow, they were going to fight the Conquerors. Fortunately, they still the Coral Octopus and the Granite Ram since Rollan had placed it inside the coffin. Conor had another dream that they were supposed to fight the Conquerors. They had been preparing and tomorrow was the day for war.

John leaned on the battlements of Greenhaven, staring up at the stars. He sighed as he remembered that Eilene liked staring at the stars but was that true? He heard footsteps and he to his surprise, he saw Rollan, summoner of Essix the Falcon.

"Hey," Rollan asked, "How are you feeling?"

"I'm feeling great," John lied.

Rollan raised an eyebrow and that's when John remembered that he was very good at reading people's expression, especially now since Essix was his Spirit Animal.

"I can see you're worried about the war tomorrow," Rollan said, "but it's not just the war, isn't it?"

John sighed, "I...I kinda..."

"You miss Eilene?" Rollan finished, "Hurt by her betrayal? Believe me, I know how you feel."

John looked at him with surprise, "I'm guessing because of Meilin?"

Rollan flinched, "Yeah..."

"But she was controlled," John said, "Eilene knew."

"You know, she may be good at acting," Rollan replied, "but believe me, she's also hurt. You don't know how hurt she is and how much she regrets it."

"Like you said, she's a good actor," John asked, "So how did you know she wasn't faking that as well?"

"Because it was genuine hurt and regret that I saw," Rollan answered.

"So, what if she's hurt?" John muttered, "She betrayed us all."

"The question is why?" Rollan asked, "Why would she save you from a poison arrow when she was going to betray you anyways?"

"How did you know that?" John asked.

"Word spreads," he replied, "She betrayed you for a reason but what reason?"

"Whatever the reason I don't care," John muttered.

"Really? Because we know the real answer," Rollan said before walking away.

John thought about what he said. Why had she saved him and risked her life a couple of times when she was just going to betray them? As he kept on thinking about it, the more uncertain he felt if he actually knew who Eilene was.
