Eilene's POV

As they neared Conor, Zerif appeared by his side and with a grin, he shouted out to his infected and they all came rushing at them at once. Conor grinned as well, shouting a different command to attack the Great Beast summoners. Immediately, the team had been pulled apart.

Eilene saw Hope pulled apart from Zoron and Zoey who struggled to get to her. George who was nearby immediately rushed towards Hope. Irene had been tackled by two of the infected, only barely being saved by Vhon. Ivan came and fought Riley while Jef tried to run to her rescue. Eilene was about to run to Hope until someone had knocked her off her feet from the side.

She quickly got back up and spun to face her attacker, only to freeze.

"Oh, Eilene, nice seeing you again," John sneered.

Eilene had fought John a couple of times already ever since he got infected but she felt as if this fight was going to be different. This was their last fight and that had two meanings. One is that everyone would be saved and John would be cured. The other meaning one of them would die today.

"We literally just met a couple of hours ago," Eilene muttered, remembering that this wasn't the real John.

"Oh right, that," John pretended to marvel at his sword as he stepped closer, "He's strong, that part is true. The thing is, the Wyrm is stronger than us all."

"That's not true," Eilene said, taking a step back as she tried to reason with him, reluctant to fighting him, "You've fought the Wyrm, you've fought for control. I've seen it with my own eyes and I know that it's possible to overcome its control."

"It may have happened once," John growled, "but now that the Wyrm is stronger, it won't happen twice."

John launched at her, viciously swiping his sword with surprising speed which Eilene barely dodged, blocking the last hit with her staff. John then kicked her hard, sending her stumbling back as John ran at her with his sword raised. Eilene raised her staff to meet the blade, sending her straining from the strength of the blow.

"I am stronger than you," John growled, pushing down harder, "You think you can beat me?"

Eilene finally rolled away and scrambled to stand up. Then she sighed, stopping for a moment, "You're right, I can't beat you. Only John can beat you for control."

"But he's too weak," John growled, running at her again and delivering hard blows which she barely blocked. One catching her arm, making her yelp in pain, "He's too weak and he's too late."

Eilene was breathing heavily as she clutched her arm in pain, "No...he's not weak. The John I know never gives up."

Eilene made a weak attempt to block another attack, making her stumbled back but she kept talking, "The John I know can be so annoying but he never fails to make me smile, even though I try hard not to show it."

She saw something flash in John's eyes and she caught the brief moment of hesitation before striking again. That moment of hesitation gave Eilene enough strength to dodge the attack.

"The John I know would always argue and fight with me, even if it's for the stupidest reasons," John stroke again, making her staff fall of her hands.

"The John I know isn't just a partner, a team member, a friend or even a best friend," Eilene had completely made no effort to defend herself as John pulled out a dagger and twirled it with one hand as he approached.

Eilene looked at him right in the eyes, "For me, John is more than just a friend."

He stopped, his eyes changing, his body hesitating but Eilene knew that it wasn't enough.

"Because...because..." Eilene hesitated to let the words go out from her mouth. She really wasn't good at this stuff and had hoped to have more time. Then she muttered, "Screw words."

Just when the Wyrm had taken control, Eilene flashed out a hand on John's dagger. Then she used her other hand to pull him closer as she planted her lips on his.

At that moment, everything around them faded momentarily. The same feeling she had those two nights returned. Sure they'd kiss before but this was slightly longer.

They both pulled away and John gasped. Eilene saw the spiral peel away from his forehead and had immediately fallen off. His eyes returned to normal as he blinked them a couple of times in confusion.

"What the heck just happened?" His voice sounded like John once more.

She could barely hold back her joy but she knew that they had a mission to finish, "John, the last piece to the talisman is in Conor's compass."

"What talisman?" John asked, still clearly confused.

Eilene rolled her eyes, "Just shut up and follow me."

"Everyone, get together," she heard Zoron yell and they both ran towards where Zoron and Zoey were.

Hope and George battled their way along with Irene and Vhon. They all headed towards Ivan, Jef, and Riley and had immediately cornered Ivan. Eilene pointed at a nearby piece of rope to John who quickly grabbed it.

Ivan growled, "You think you can actually kill me?"

John quickly ran forwards from behind and had immediately tied both his arms quickly before Ivan could react. He huffed, "No, but we can tie you up till you're freed."

"John," George exclaimed, "Y-You're free? H-How?"

"I'm still trying to figure this out," John replied and everyone glanced at Eilene.

She only shrugged, "Oh you know. Magic."

"We'll talk later," Zoron interrupted, "Let's get that compass, shall we?"

Everyone started running towards Conor once more who was fighting Abeke, Meilin, and Rollan along with Zerif and his infected Great Beasts. Then, there was a loud roar and Eilene turned to find that the Great Beasts summoners along with the remaining Great Beasts were running towards them as well, Kovo carrying the staff high in the air.

With Conor momentarily distracted, Rollan quickly snatched the compass around his neck and quickly broke it, a small metal piece falling down. Before he bent down to grab it, Conor had tackled him to the ground. Meilin quickly came for his rescue, leaving Abeke to defend herself from Zerif.

Knowing they were running out of time, Eilene quickly dashed forward and dived for the metal piece. A nearby infected tried to attack her but John was there, slicing him with his sword.

John shot her a grin, "Be glad I have my sword."

"The same sword that almost killed me," Eilene muttered, pushing herself up then yelled, "Kovo!"

Luckily, the Great Ape heard her but he wasn't close enough. She saw him pull out the incomplete talisman and threw it towards her. Eilene had caught it and pressed the last piece in, a brighter light glowing around the talisman. The Titanium Bear seemed to be glowing brighter than before.

"What does it do?" John asked curiously.

"We're about to find out," she quickly wore the talisman, making sure the metal pressed hard on her skin.

Not knowing what to do, she glanced at the others who were struggling from the infected Great Beasts. Acting out of instinct, she ran towards them, leaped and she felt strength going through her. Without thinking, she had smashed her hands and feet on the ground and it shook violently, making some of them fall back.

"This is one earth-shaking talisman," Eilene mumbled to herself and dashed towards Kovo before anyone else tried to get up.

When she neared, she slipped off the talisman and tossed it to Kovo who immediately caught it and slipped it on the Staff of Cycles, another light filling the place. Then he raised the staff to the black, rising Wyrm and blinding light filled the clearing.
