George's POV

They've been following the compass which was once again leading them back to the Evertree. George was in deep thought. His father, Gerald, the Lord of Gaundor, is a Dream Bringer who worked with Derek before. He's been sending them dreams before. His father never mentioned anything about these Dream Bringers before.

He hadn't noticed that Haley had fallen into step with him, "Hey."

"Oh hey," George suddenly felt guilty, "I'm sorry for snapping at you like that before."

"It's okay," she reassured him, "You needed some time alone." They were silent until she spoke once more, "You and Eilene, you seem...close."

"Of course," George said, "She's like a sister to me. Whenever her and John argue, it's like being the middle sibling out of the three. They're that annoying, though it's usually because John can be annoying..." Thinking about John made him cringed.

Right in front of them was Eilene who flinched but she went on walking. She probably heard what he said. George suddenly felt even more sad at the thought of his brother. Many things could go wrong.

As if sensing his thoughts, Haley put a comforting hand on his shoulder, "Hey, don't worry. It'll be alright."

"But what if we fail?" George asked, "What if we fail to defeat the Wyrm? What if it doesn't free those who were infected? Many things could go wrong."

"Yes, many things may go wrong," Haley told him, "but what i'm certain about is that we will defeat the Wyrm, we will win this war."

Just then, there was a strangled cry and George turned around to see that Takoda had stumbled, gasping in pain. Xanthe was beside him in an instant.

"Why? What's wrong?" Meilin asked, as everyone rushed towards him.

"I'm...i'm getting something," Takoda managed to gasp out as he looked at Kovo who had a look of concentration.

Kovo started giving him a flurry of signs as Takoda translated, "He's sending a message to...Mulop and his summoner. He's sending a message to the other group!"

Takoda's eyes suddenly closed and it was silent for a moment before he spoke, "I'm talking to Sarah, Mulop's summoner. She's with the others, the Keepers."

"Is Rollan and Abeke there?" Meilin asked worriedly.

"Yes, they're there," Takoda replied, "but...Ivan's infected."

"Oh no..." Zoron said.

"They're in Stetriol," Takoda's voice was pained and George could tell that this was tiring him, the weakening bonds weren't helping, "And Zerif...Zerif's attacking."

Takoda gasped in pain and George saw Kovo waver as well, his eyes fighting to stay concentrated.

Eilene quickly rushed to him and put both hands on his shoulders, "Takoda, please try and stay in control. Ask if any of the Dream Bringers are there."

Riley's POV

A loud boom sounded from below them. They all knew that a battle was happening from above them.

Sarah winced in pain, "They're there, they're alive."

"Who's alive?" Zoey asked, sounding worried and hopeful.

"Everyone," Sarah gasped out, "but...but Conor got infected along with Briggan."

"No..." Rollan's voice trailed off in horror, "What about Meilin? Is she okay?"

"She's okay," Sarah said, "One of the Keepers were also infected...John."

The ground underneath Riley's feet almost wavered as another boom sounded. Ivan was already infected and now John, a very close friend of hers, is gone too.

"Quick, you need to tell them to get back to the Evertree," Gerald told Sarah urgently, "They must head back to the Evertree as soon as possible."

Sarah nodded weakly before closing her eyes in deep concentration. Just then, there were some footsteps that Riley heard, coming from one of the hallways. Immediately, she saw a leopard running right at Zoey with full speed, a black twisting spiral on its forehead, lips twisted in to a snarl. Immediately, Jef pushed her away and summoned his Spirit Animal, Breeze, who faced the leopard with a snarl before stopping with a shock expression.

At first, Riley thought that the leopard was Uraza but when she looked closer, she gasped as she realized whose Spirit Animal it belongs to. Another figure stepped out of the shadows, an evil grin on his face, the parasite twisting on his forehead. Ivan.

Eilene's POV

"They're saying something about going to the Evertree as soon as possible," Takoda informed them, his voice filled with pain and exhaustion, "They're saying something about a letter from Derek."

"Are there any Dream Bringers there?" Eilene asked, "Or an animal, any animal that's not a Spirit Animal?"

"There's Gerald," Takoda gasped, struggling to keep concentrating, "Someone named Vhon, and a raven."

"Who's Vhon?" Hope asked.

"Probably another Dream Bringer," Eilene replied but everything was rushing at her all at once. A raven. There's a raven.

Just then, Takoda's hands flew to his head as he clutched it in pain, "I'm...i'm losing it."

"Just let it go," Eilene told him, "We need to get to the Evertree as soon as possible."

Takoda let out a gasp of relief as he sat down weakly. Just then, she heard scuttling noises and they all knew what that sound meant. Then she saw them, figures. Tens, hundreds, thousands of them, making their way towards them.
