Sorry guys, just wanted to get you guys prepared for the ending of this series. Anyways, here's chapter thirteen! Enjoy!

Zoey's POV

Zoey froze as she heard that cry. She had been so sure that the Wyrm had gotten her. She had been so sure that it came from her. Some sort of fog was already fogging her vision, hearing voices come around her but she couldn't hear them. Fear blinded her as the fog started to blind her vision. She tried to fight back, to resist it, the fog clearing for a bit but it came back more forcefully.

Just when she was just about to lose power, a blinding light filled her vision. She could hear muted sounds of others screaming around her but the fog from her vision was clearing. The dark voices were still there but another voice called out, a different one.

"Fight it," she heard it say, "Fight the Wyrm."

Gathering all her strength, she started to fight the Wyrm. The words "fight it" kept on repeating in her mind, giving her more power. She kept on fighting it until the fog disappeared completely. She gasped as the dark voices disappeared, the fog has disappeared but the bright light was still there, slowly fading.

"Zoey," she heard someone exclaimed and she looked up to see Jef and the others looking at her worriedly.

She swayed on her legs and Jef quickly caught her, gently laying her down, "Zoey, are you okay?"

"W-What happened?" Zoey asked weakly.

Jef didn't respond, only looking up. Zoey followed his gaze and saw Shane standing a few feet away with the Staff of Cycles on his hands. A moment later, Rollan and Abeke quickly arrived in the scene.

"The Staff of Cycles was able to help you fight the Wyrm," Shane explained to her, "but it would kill it permanently when we have the next talisman joined with the staff."

"Does that mean you could free Ivan?" Riley asked, hopefully.

Shane sighed, "Unfortunately, I can't. It would help Ivan fight the Wyrm but it's really his choice if he would accept the help. He had given up and accepted the Wyrm. I believe the only way to save him now is defeating the Wyrm."

"Well, how many more compasses are we supposed to fine?" Abeke suddenly snapped, "Or is this just another one of your plans where you save us then betray us in the end all over again? Because we're not falling for it again."

Shane flinched at the harshness in Abeke's voice but he replied, "It's not that, believe me. I've done that mistake before and i'm not doing it again. If I break my promise, then you can kill me yourself. You're free to leave as well for we're not keeping you prisoners. We're simply just trying to help."

Abeke still didn't look entirely convinced and Zoey saw another emotion in her eyes that she couldn't quite figure out. Then she turned around and walked away, Shane's gaze following after her, a glint of sadness in his eyes.

"How much longer until we reach Stetriol?" Rollan asked him.

"Probably by tonight," Shane replied and was about to walk out before Jef stopped him.

"What about Ivan?" Jef asked, looking to the door where Ivan was trapped inside, "What do we do to him?"

Shane hesitated then spoke with reluctance clear in his voice, "We have no choice but we can't bring him with us."

Hope's POV

Hope followed after Zoron silently as he looked up at Lazu who's looking for ways out of here. Hope sighed. She wanted to forget about the whole fight with Zoron as well but she couldn't just forget it. She'd rather talk to him about him and apologize but she didn't feel ready. Thinking about it now, this was the first fight they've ever had.

"I think I found a way out," Zoron reported, a hint of tension in his voice.

Hope didn't say anything as she quietly walked towards him. Sure enough, there were rocks leading to a way up but the path seemed steep.

"You can go first if you like," Zoron mumbled, still feeling tensed and discomfort between them, "I'll be right behind you."

Again, Hope didn't say anything as she started the steep climb up the rocky path. She heard Zoron climbing up behind her and they climbed up silently, feeling the tension and emptiness between them.

How does John and Eilene stand not being able to talk to each other for so long? Because this is hard, she wondered and felt a pang of grief. It just reminded her that John lost to the Wyrm and that the rest of their team have split up.

They kept on climbing, both lost in their own thoughts. Hope had been caught up with her thoughts that she forgot to concentrate and had slipped on a rock. She quickly grabbed on the ledge, gritting her teeth from the effort, before hauling herself up. She sat there, catching her breath and calming her beating heart as Zoron climbed up beside her.

"Are you okay?" Zoron asked and she saw worry in his eyes.

For a moment, they both seemed to have forgotten about their fight. Then Hope couldn't take it anymore and she flung herself at Zoron, hugging him tightly. She felt Zoron's arms wrap around hers and they stayed in that position for a while as they took comfort in each other.

"I'm sorry," Zoron broke the silence first.

"I'm sorry too," Hope murmured, gripping him tighter, not wanting to pull away.

No more words were needed to be said.

George's POV

George felt a pang of panic shot through him though he didn't know why. He looked around before finally spotting the tiny parasite wiggling its way towards him. His eyes widened and he quickly stood up, trying to run away but he tripped on one of the Evertree's roots. He struggled backwards, trying to avoid the small parasite which was quickly making its way towards him. Just when the parasite was about to reach him, a foot had started stepping on it repeatedly, trying to kick the parasite away.

Suddenly, he was being pulled up to his feet and being pushed to another direction, away from the parasite. When they've put some distance away from the parasite was when George finally looked who had came to help. It was Eilene, looking at him in anger with a mixture of guilt and worry. Anger filled inside of him again.

"I could've handled it by myself," George fired, "I didn't need your help."

"Really?" Eilene snapped which made George recoil slightly. She rarely snapped at George, only snapping at his brother mostly, "because it seemed that if I haven't came on time, that parasite would've gotten to you for sure. Just like your brother."

"Don't tell me things that I already know," George told her darkly, "I know very well what happened to my brother."

"And i'm not going to lose anyone again," Eilene told him firmly and suddenly, the anger in her eyes faded, replaced with sadness, "I didn't try hard enough to help him. If anyone should've been infected, it should've been me. I've brought you guys down here and it's my fault that this whole team is breaking apart."

"I don't even know why I've trusted you," George shook his head, "I don't even know why we all did. I thought...I thought you were our friend."

"I know," Eilene told him quietly, not trying to defend herself, "I don't deserve to be your friends. I don't deserve your forgiveness and I certainly don't deserve your trust. But if I had another chance, then i'd try to fix everything I've done wrong. I would've done things differently if I've made a different choice."

"Then why didn't you?" George asked, his voice tight with anger, "Why did you choose to betray us? Choose to break my brother's heart? Choose to help the Conquerors?"

Eilene looked at him, her eyes were so broken and sad that George's anger almost faded away, "Would my choices have made things different? If the Conquerors have failed to obtain the talismans and free Kovo, then how would we have known about Kovo actually trying to save the world? About the Wyrm? George, those people in Stetriol were wrong to be blamed. It was King Feliandor who started the war, the people only being forced to. Kovo who knew all about the rot was trying to save the whole of Erdas."

George didn't say anything as she went on, "Everyone had already made their mistakes a long time ago. Who knows, if I've actually made a different choice, the Conquerors might still have stolen the talismans and freed Kovo. We can only learn from our mistakes but I couldn't do that if you can't give me another chance. Another chance to fix it. I'm trying, George, I really am."

George hesitated but still refused, "Why should I believe you? You split our team up, who knows what happened to the others. You failed to save John and now you want us to go on without Zoron and Hope."

"A mistake I've done," Eilene nodded guiltily, "We shouldn't have split up at all. Because now, it's all gone wrong."

George felt confused for he sensed there was something else she knew.

"Two must become One to move on. Ten must become One to face the threat. Sixteen must become One to defeat the Wyrm. Ten and Four must join with Two to save Erdas," Eilene told him the prophecy and she shook her head, "It doesn't matter. The answer was in the words all along."

"I...I don't get it," George said, confused.

"The numbers didn't matter," Eilene told him, "All it was saying was to join together. All it was saying was to become one."
