Eilene's POV

"If Conor and the Many are already here," Eilene said, "Then we have to start finding out about the riddle."

"Well, what are we supposed to do?" A boy she didn't recognize, asked.

"Vhon? One of the Dream Bringers?" Eilene asked out of curiosity.

He grinned momentarily, "Someone recognizes me."

Eilene thought back to all of the prophecies and started putting the pieces together.

"Two must become one to move on. Ten must become one to face the threat. Sixteen must become one to destroy the Wyrm."

"The compass. Break the compass. Fix the talisman."

"If this helps," Vhon handed her a piece if paper and she took it and quickly read.

"Just how the group had broken apart, so does the compass.
Just when the group reunites, does the compass be together.
Just when everyone becomes One, does the talisman be fix.
The final battle ends where all life begins.
And where all life begins, where a new life forms."

"Sixteen becomes one...break the compass, fix the talisman," Eilene murmured, thinking hard, "Break the compass. We need to break the compass."

"Which compass?" Irene asked.

She quickly took her own compass then pulled it apart as hard as she could. The compass snapped and something fell out. She picked it up and looked closely, feeling some sort of metal.

"What is that?" Zoron asked.

"We'll find out soon enough," Eilene mumbled, "We need to break all the compasses. This one was from my father."

Irene took another compass, broke it and another piece of metal fell out, "This was the one you gave us to find the Staff of Cycles."

"This, we found in a lost city called Shai Lu Man," Riley spoke up, breaking another compass.

Zoey took another one and broke the compass, "This was from the Place of Desolation."

"This was from the Place of Desolation as well," Jef added, breaking another compass.

"This was a compass I found on my own," Vhon spoke, breaking the compass he wore around his neck.

"This I was given," Gerald spoke, breaking his compass.

"This I found inside Gerald's house," Rollan joined in, a piece falling out from his broken compass.

"And this..." Abeke's voice wavered before taking a deep breath, "This was given to me by Shane before he...died."

There was a moment of silence. Eilene was shocked. Shane is...dead? She shook her head. They didn't have time to dwell on that right now.

"This we found when we reached the Evertree," Zoron spoke, breaking a compass.

"This I found myself nearby," Meilin added.

"This, I was guided by a Dream Bringer to find," Haley spoke, nodding at Gerald.

"The same thing happened to me as well," Xanthe said, breaking her compass.

"And this, we found in a city called Aspenosa," Hope spoke, a piece of metal falling from the compass.

Eilene silently counted in her head, "Fourteen. That's fourteen pieces of the same metal."

"Fifteen," Gerald spoke as a raven screeched, landing on his shoulder as it carried another compass, "This we found in a old house from this raven."

They all gathered the pieces of metal on the floor. When Eilene looked closely, there seemed to be some sort of carving on the metals.

Then she got an idea, "Who's good with puzzles? I think we need to put these pieces together."

"Let me try," Meilin volunteered then started putting the pieces together, her face crunched with concentration.

Kovo the Ape then grunted, nudged Meilin out the way then started putting the pieces together as well. Meilin huffed but let the ape do it anyways. Piece by piece, Eilene started to see it form and she started to realize what it was.

"The talisman," Eilene breathed, "It's Ursala's talisman, the Titanium Bear."

Kovo kept on putting the pieces and she noticed a slight flash when the sides connected. She then noticed that the cracks had disappeared and had magically stuck together.

Kovo then grunted and she noticed that a last piece was missing, "One more piece is missing. There's supposed to be sixteen."

"Is there one more compass?" Zoron asked everyone but they all shook their heads.

"Wait," George exclaimed, "Meilin, Rollan, and Abeke had found compasses. And if they found one, then the last piece must be with..."

"Conor," Abeke finished, glancing at the Euran who was still commanding.

"This talisman won't be completed if we don't get the final piece," Eilene said grimly, "We need to get Conor's compass."

There was a loud roar and they all sharply turned to see a polar bear running through the battle with an elephant right behind, trampling both allies and foes. More of the infected Great Beasts started coming and were mostly focused on those Great Beasts who weren't infected yet.

"We need to free the Great Beasts," Eilene said.

"But how?" Riley asked.

"By completing this talisman and adding it to the Staff of Cycles," Eilene replied, her eyes taking in a faraway look, "All fifteen Great Beasts must stand together to defeat this threat."

"Fifteen?" George asked, confused, "Don't you mean sixteen?"

Eilene looked at them, her eyes widening as she finally realized, "Stars formed in the shape of a bear known as Ursa Major when the Great Bear Ursala died. Ursa Major is still in the skies, isn't it?"

At first, everyone seemed to be baffled but realization started to dawn in their eyes.

"So, what you're saying is that Ursa isn't Ursala?" Hope asked, slightly confused.

"She never was," Eilene replied, "She was used by the real Ursala."

Before anyone could reply, the ground began to shake. At first, it started small that no one noticed but it started to grow stronger. Eilene's eyes quickly snapped towards the Evertree and she gasped as she saw the roots starting to turn black and was rising up. It kept on rising until there was a huge black spot right in the middle.

Then it started to open, revealing the creature they had seen. She didn't have much proof but she could tell what it was.

The Wyrm.

Since this series was written before the fourth book, the Wyrm won't look exactly like it was described in the book.
