Riley's POV

They had finally reached the island and had walked out the ship. A huge jungle was right in front of them.

"So," Rollan was asking, "Where is this Place of Desolation?"

"It's somewhere deep in the jungle," Shane replied.

"And what is this Place of Desolation?" Abeke asked.

"It's an ancient trap," Shane explained, "It holds something that we must uncover to help defeat the Wyrm. We must work with our Spirit Animals more than ever."

Abeke winced when he said the last part.

"Is it the other half of the talisman?" Riley asked.

"I do not know," Shane replied, "but i'm sure it's another one of Ursala's traps."

"What about the Dream Bringers?" Jef asked, "Any more information about them?"

"Lin only mentioned that they bring dreams," Shane said, "but I do not know why."

"Dream Bringers?" Rollan repeated, confused.

They didn't know of the Keepers' dreams they've been having.

"Quick, we must hurry," Shane said and they went through the jungle, following the compass.

Eilene's POV

The Wyrm, the Staff of Cycles, two stars cut in half. She had the same dream once more but in the very end, she heard words that made her wonder much more.

"Two must become one to move on. Ten must become one to face the threat. Sixteen must become one to destroy the Wyrm. Ten and Four must join with Two, become One to save Erdas."

Ten and Four must join with Two? Eilene wondered, Am I really dreaming random things or is this really real?

"Guys, she's waking up," she heard Hope's voice.

She opened her eyes and groaned, still feeling the throbbing pain on the side of her head. As her vision cleared, she saw Hope, George, Zoron, and Haley looking at her with relief and worry.

"Eilene, are you okay?" George asked.

Eilene sat up slowly, "Of course i'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?"

"Because I almost killed you," came a soft reply.

She spotted John sitting as far as possible from them. He did not meet her gaze, only looking away. Eilene sighed and walked towards him slowly until she sat beside him.

"Kill me?" Eilene snorted, trying to lighten up the mood, "You took me by surprise. If i've been ready, I could've handled you just fine."

"I almost killed you," John whispered, "If they hadn't stopped me-"

"It wasn't your fault," Eilene interrupted, "And it won't be."

"Eilene," John said, "The parasite has passed the base of my neck. Once we reached the talisman, we won't have time to regroup with the others before I turn-"

"Do not say that," Eilene snapped, "We're going to get the talisman and we're going to save you. A team never leaves anyone behind."

"Unless they want you to move on, right?" John said coldly, "Greencloak or Redcloak, your duty is to save Erdas, not me. I'm only going to get in the way of your mission."

"My mission?" Eilene repeated, "It's our mission so you're in this as well. And as long as you're still John, we aren't going to leave you behind."

"What's the point when i'm just slowing you down?" John fired, "I'm already losing this fight and we both know it. If you let me join you guys i'm only going to kill you. You need to stop me now-"

"That isn't going to happen-" Eilene replied.

John cut in, "It will happen...because you promised."

Eilene was silent for a moment before speaking, "Yes, I promised that I will stop you before you turn, but as long as you haven't succomb yet, I won't do it. I can't..."

"Why?" John asked, "Why can't you do it?"

Eilene looked down, not saying anything.

"Why?" Johh whispered.

Eilene looked at him, "You already know the answer to that."

Ivan's POV

"They've probably reached the roots by now," Ivan mumbled to Riley as they kept on walking, "Maybe they even have the talisman. They probably didn't have to get infected by that parasite."

"Ivan," Riley abruptly said, "The parasite is still on your arm. We have plenty of time so stop worrying. The others are doing fine...hopefully."

They walked on in silence before Riley spoke, "Why did you save me?"

"Because...," Ivan hesitated before sighing, "Because I care a lot about you."

"Aw, how sweet," Zoey, who overheard spoke, "First Zoron and Hope, then John and Eilene, well it used to be them or whatever. They probably are getting along just fine right now-"

"Right now?" Rollan asked, confused, "Isn't she dead?"

Everyone gave Zoey a glare.

"She meant to say, in John's dreams," Jef quickly added, "I mean you know him. How much he cares and how...devastated he's been that he had to retire."

"Yes, yes of course," Zoey nodded quickly, plastering a fake smile.

Rollan narrowed his eyes at them, "You're lying."

They exchanged panicked glances. They didn't know how they would react if they told them that Eilene was actually Lin. Worse, they probably won't believe them.

"How can they be lying that Eilene is dead?" Shane spoke, "It was obvious she died from that ship. Zerif barely escaped himself. Why would Eilene be alive now when she hasn't shown up for a year?"

Rollan looked at Shane carefully but nodded. Though he still looked unconvinced, there was nothing he could say. They visibly relaxed and kept on walking.

"That was close," Irene mumbled.

They kept on walking when Shane suddenly stopped. As they emerge from the bushes, right in front of them were ruins of a city.

"We're here," Shane announced, "The Place of Desolation."

What does the new part to the prophecy mean? Who are sending these dreams? Will they pass the trap? Will they make it to the Evertree?

I'm going to have a hard time writing about the Place of Desolation when I haven't read the fourth book.

If you have any ideas on what the prophecy and the dream means, please comment down below. If you think you know who these Dream Bringers are, comment below as well.
