I was walking down the streets of Ninjago City, I looked down at my phone as a news notification. I clicked on it and a video of Gayle Gossip popped up.

"Is it true that people with magical powers have been spotted in Ignacia? We are here with some of the residents-"

I clicked off the news app and put my phone back in my pocket. I don't believe in stuff like this, there's no such thing as magical powers. It's all fake. I walked into the arcade and went towards the storage room. I put the blue vest on that all workers have to wear. It had my name tag and everything on it too.

"You alright Jay?" My co-worker Cole said to me. He was making a coffee and had his back turned. "I'm making coffee, want one?" He turned around with two mugs full off coffee.
"Yeah sure." I walked over to Cole and took the blue mug he was holding.
"Did you get another nose piercing?" I asked him.
"Yeah I got a septum one two days ago." He responded.
"Looks cool." I remarked.
"Thanks dude." He tapped my shoulder and walked over to one of the tables and sat in the blue plastic chair. I sat down opposite him and drank my coffee.

"Wanna come over to mine and have pizza tonight?" I asked. Cole looked up at me, he had bags under his eyes, but to be fair I do too.
"Yeah sure, who's paying." He looked at me dead in the eyes and put his coffee mug down. I put mine down too. We get serious about this stuff.
"Competition?" I suggested.
"Fine, whoever goes a day without making Linda angry doesn't have to pay, is that a deal?" He brought his hand out to shake mine. I shook his hand and we looked each other dead in the eye. He walked over to the sink and washed our cups, we both don't wanna make Linda angry. Linda is the manager and she's in everyday and she can't go a day without shouting at someone. We've both been shouted at before by her and it's scary as hell. Once we finished washing up we placed them both in the cabinet. We walked outside the storage room and into the arcade.

"Hey sir can you help me? I won a prize in one of the machines but it won't come out." A random little boy asked me.
"Oh yeah sure, what machine were you playing on?" I asked the kid. He pointed to the claw machine with spiderman and batman plushies. I walked towards it and looked into it. Ah, I see what's happened. The batman plushy he one got stuck by a string on the dropper bit. I slanted the key in the lock that's on the glass. I took the glass off and retrieved the stuck batman plushy. I noticed in the corner of my eye that Linda was watching me. I gave the kid the batman plushy and placed the glass back onto the machine and locked it.

"Thank you sir!" The boy said before he skipped away to another machine. I turned around to see Linda walking away. I walked to the counter where Cole was working.
"How are you doing so far?" I asked him.
"She's giving me evils but she hasn't shouted at me yet." He responded "But I'm still gonna win this Jay."
"Sure you will!" I sarcastically laughed as I walked away.

-An hour later-

I looked up the clock on the arcade, ten minutes left on my shift. I was fixing one of the machines with Cole when we heard someone angrily stomping towards us. We turned around and saw..oh no Linda.

"Can you both explain to me why this machine is broken?" She snapped at us.
"Uhm some teenagers came in and kicked it because they lost their mone-" Cole tried to explain but got interrupted by Linda.
"I DON'T WANT TO HEAR YOUR EXCUSE, I KNOW YOU BOTH BROKE IT!" She screamed.

For the next ten minutes Cole and I got completely yelled at by Linda, I guess we both lost the competition. After Linda had finished having a fit we got up and put our vests in the storage room and walked out the back door.

As we were walking back to mine we could see some stuff going on in front of us, it kind off looked like a...holy crap a group of guys were beating someone up. Cole was looking down at his phone, I nudged him on his arm.

"What was that for?" He looked pissed at me.
"Look ahead, we gotta help." I said as I started running towards the group of people. Cole put his phone in his coat pocket and rushed behind me.

"Hey what's going on over here." I yelled at a group of guys about my age, they moved away and turned around to look at me. They left a gap between them and I could see some kid who was probably year younger then the rest of them in so much pain on the floor and definitely had a broken nose.

"What do you want dude." One of them asked me, trying to be intimidating.
"What the fuck is wrong with all of you? What did this guy ever do to you?" I said to them. Cole had just caught up behind me.
"Would you like to join him then?" The tallest one said, he wasn't as tall as Cole though.
"I'd like to see you try" I threatened.

This guy backed up a bit and put his fists out and I did the same. Oh my god I've never gotten into a fight before.

He swung first but I luckily dodged it. I swung back and luckily I landed a hit on his cheek.

"You're gonna pay for that you dick!" He shouted as he charged towards me. I closed my eyes and put my arm out to block when I heard this sort of zapping a frazzling sound. I opened my eyes and realised he was on the floor and his hair was sticking up in all places. What the hell? How did he get electrocuted?

"Jay how did you do that you literally just zapped that guy!" Cole cheered.
"What?" I questioned him.

I looked at the rest of the guy on the floor's "gang" the kid they were beating up must've ran away whilst we were fighting. The rest of the guys looked at Cole and I, fuming. We could literally see steam coming from their ears.

"So do you two idiots wanna fight us then?" The one in front of the rest of the gang said to us.
"Yeah I'm down for that." Cole said. What the hell is he doing?

Cole charged towards two of them at once and tackled him to the ground. How did he do that? There was only two guys left so I tried to take them on. I landed a few punches and got hit a few times but nothing was broken yet. I prepared myself to push them when a huge sort of orb of lightning formed in front of my hand. Jesus Christ what is going on today? I pushed both of them and somehow zapping them with the weird lightning orb. They both fell to the floor and groaned in pain. I looked over at Cole to see him somehow levitating a bunch of rocks in the air above the last two remaining guys on the floor.

"Take the rest of your friends and get out of here or get crushed." Cole threatened. The two guys on the floor stared at him in fear but I don't blame them for that though. If I were them I'd be shitting myself.
"What's it gonna be? Get crushed or go?" Cole growled.

The two stumbled onto their feet and grabbing the rest of their friends and started to run away.

"That...
Was..
AWESOME!"

Cole and I both cheered and high fived each other. Suddenly, Cole hissed and moved his hand away.

"Jay you zapped me!" His voice went high pitched and had a voice crack. I started laughing at his voice.
"It's not funny you monster." Cole's voice went deep, like deeper then his natural voice which made me laugh even harder.
"Lets just go back to your place." Cole growled.
"Wait who's paying for the pizza" I asked
"We'll just split it" Cole responded.
"Fine by me" I said as we walked to my apartment.

As we were walking I couldn't help but feeling tired and I couldn't stop yawning. Same with Cole. I'm still confused on how Cole and I were controlling lightning and earth but I can't be bothered to ask him whether he's confused or to google it.

I stumbled into my apartment door and put the key in the lock and twist it. I open the door and fall in. Cole takes my key from the lock and closes the door.

"I'm too tired to order a pizza I'm just gonna take a nap on the sofa." Cole stated as he walked into the living room and flopped onto the sofa. I walked into my bedroom, not bothering the change. As soon as my body hit my bed I fell fast asleep.

"I found Jay and Cole they're down here!"

I opened my eyes to see some girl looking down at me panicked. She had her hand on my cheek and it looked like she was crying. What was going on?

"Jay are you ok? You fell off the bounty with Cole." She told me. I looked around to see some brunette guy comforting Cole.

"Jay are you ok? You aren't answering me!" She was visibly shaking and crying more.

What is going on?"

I woke up from whatever that dream was. Who was that girl? Why was she crying? How did I end up where I was? What the hell is a "bounty"?

I got out of my bed to see Cole looking freaked out in my kitchen.

"Cole what's the matter?" I asked him.
"Look what the fuck I can do with your plant." He said, he sounded completely freaked out.
"Uhm ok?" I said.

I stood next to him as he raised his hand and pointed it towards my plant pot. I watched as he lifted his hand up and the plant somehow grew under his command.

"So out of all the stuff you did today starting from levitating rocks over some guys head and making a plant grow, you're more freaked out over a plant growing." I commented.
"It's because I barely remember that!" He almost snapped -almost.
"Ok! Calm down!" I said as I backed away.
"I am so freaked out man, what if we both died and we're actually in heaven and now we have powers?" Cole shrieked "How are you not panicking! You always panic! It's your job to panic!" Cole continued.
"I am just on the inside!" I defended myself.
"You usually do it on the outside though!" Cole was screaming at this point.
"You know what Cole, I think we just both need to go back to sleep and calm down and we're gonna figure out what's going on tomorrow." I tried to calm him down.
"Ok fine...DIBS SLEEPING IN THE BED!" Cole ran as fast as he could to my room.
"Cole no this is my house!" I chased after him but when I got to my room he was already snoring and had his limbs spread out on MY bed.
"Fine you win, I'm on the couch." I said as I went into the living room.

I grabbed a random blanket off the floor and plonked onto the sofa. I put a pillow on top of my head to stop all light in my vision.

I'm still so confused on everything that's happened today, my mind is wandering to other places as I'm trying to sleep. Crap I left my phone in my room. I got up and walked to my bedroom. God, I can hear Cole's snoring from down the halls. I opened my bedroom door and grabbed my phone off my desk. I turned it on to see if I had any notifications. Most of them were messages from Linda saying how Cole and I are suspended from work for a week, some were just tiktok notifications but one notification was a message from a number I haven't saved. I opened it and it just said.

"Go to the outskirts of Ninjago City, by the forest, bring your friend too."

I can't be bothered to wake Cole up right now so I'll tell him when he wakes up. I walk out my room and shut the door behind me and back into the lounge. I put my phone on the coffee table and I flop back onto the sofa, to fall fast asleep this time.
