Y/n POV

I managed to wake up by the campfire that the others put up for the night while I was being patched up by Ruby after Qrow told us about the Maidens. I don't believe it, they use magic without Dust? I never heard this tale before, other people using magic, and other stuff. We just sat in silence while Ruby was sitting next to me to make sure I get better from the wound, while Qrow was finishing his drink from his flask.

Qrow: Really? No questions?

Jaune: Of course we have questions. This is just... a lot to take in.

Qrow: Sure, of course.

We all went silent for a second until Ruby spoke.

Ruby: So these... maidens... They're powerful fighters that don't need Dust to use magic.

Qrow: Yeah.

Nora: And there are four of them?

Qrow: Yup. Always.

Ren: Which means that, whenever one of them dies, the power transfers to someone- a female- that they care about?

Qrow: Whoever was in their thoughts last. Important distinction. Best option, it's someone we can trust. Regardless, their souls become combined in a way.

You: When Amber died back in the vault in Beacon, her power was transferred to Cinder, because all she wanted was power.

Qrow: You got that right.

Jaune: And that's what you trying to do to Pyrrha. The night the tower fell. You were trying to turn her into one of them.

Qrow: The previous Fall Maiden, Amber, had been attacked. She was young, inexperienced. And her assailment, who we now know as Cinder, somehow managed to steal some of her power, but not all of it. We were afraid that if we didn't do something, the rest would go to her as well.

You: Wait.

They all looked at me in a confused look.

You: You said that Cinder stole most of Amber's power right?

Qrow: Yes.

You: That was the same woman, she attacked me, Ruby, and Glynda the night before Torchwick escaped.

Ruby: Yeah, I just realized.

Jaune: So you forced it on Pyrrha.

Qrow: We didn't force anything. We explained the situation and gave her a choice, and she chose.

You: I was there.

Qrow: Exactly, and Jaune was there too, you heard her.

Jaune then got up from his log and walked a few feet away from us.

Ruby: That guy. Tyrian. Why was he after me and Y/n?

Qrow sighs after what Ruby had told Qrow her question.

Qrow: Well, you definitely painted a target on your back what you did at Beacon. I told you having silver eyes is a rare trait. And the fact that you're someone that was able to use them seems to have upset some powerful people. Not many people know about the silver eyes. But those that do aren't very happy that one has surfaced. That's why I have been keeping an eye on you. In order to make sure you were safe. All of you. And I don't know about why they were after Y/n as well?

You: I think I know why.

Qrow and the others looked at me to make me answer to them.

You: They're after me as well, because I'm a Jedi, and they want me to become one of them, there's no way I'm letting that happen.

Ruby: Well, then, why not just travel with us? It seems like that would've been easier?

Jaune: He was using you as bait.

You: Jaune! Don't you dare say that!

After I said that, I grunted in pain from my wound wrapped in bandages.

Ruby: Y/n, just take it easy.

You: He had no right to say that.

Qrow: Look, I wouldn't put it like that; it's... complicated.

Jaune turned around to face Qrow.

Jaune: What is all of this? Ruby and Y/n are being hunted, the schools are being attacked, all for what? What is the point of all of this? Will you just tell us what's going on?!

Qrow sighs from Jaune's questions.

Qrow: Would you sit down? You're stressin' me out, kid.

Jaune did what Qrow said and sat back down on his log.

Qrow: Not many people are super religious these days.

Qrow then put the cap on his flask and put it down next to him.

Qrow: This world's been around for a long time, long enough that people have created dozens of gods. But if you believe Ozpin, two of them are actually real.

You: Wait, I heard this before. When ever me and BD-1 went to the temple during the initiation, he showed a Holographic log of Master Eno Cordova. He said the same thing, but not all of it.

Qrow: Well, I'm about to tell you the rest of it. They were brothers. The older sibling, the god of light, found joy in creating forces of life. Meanwhile, the younger brother, the god of darkness, spent time creating forces of destruction. As you can imagine, they both had pretty different ideas about how things should go. The older one would spend his days creating water, plants, and wildlife. And at night, his brother would wake to see all the things that the elder had made and become disgusted. To counteract his brother's creations, the god of darkness brought drought, fire, famine, all that he could do to rid Remnant of life. But life always returned. So one night, the younger brother went and made something. Something that shared his innate desire to destroy anything and everything.

Ruby: The creatures of Grimm.

You: He created those things?

Qrow: You guessed it. The older brother had finally had enough. Knowing that their feud couldn't last like this forever, he proposed that they make one final creation. Together. Something that they could both be proud of. Their masterpiece. Younger brother agreed. This last great creation would be given the power to both create and destroy. It would be given the gift of knowledge, so that it could learn about itself and the world around it. And most importantly, it would be given the power to choose, to have free will to take everything it had learned and decide which path to follow: The Path of Light, or the Path of Darkness. And that is how humanity came to be.

Ren: But... what does that have to do with us?

Qrow: Well that's the kicker. See, the four gifts to mankind: knowledge, creation, destruction and choice... aren't just metaphorical. Each of them exists in a physical form, left behind by the gods before they abandoned Remnant, and each of them is extraordinary powerful. If someone would collect all four, they'd be able to change the world. That's exactly what the enemy wants.

You: They want those just for power.

Qrow: You got that right. The Huntsman Academies were created to train generations of humanity's protectors, but they also survey another purpose: guarding the relics. When Ozpin's predecessor founded the schools, he built them around the relics to act as a fortress. Not only would they be easier to defend, but they would be constantly surrounded by trained warriors. The hope was that hiding the relics would keep mankind from using them against itself. And, of course, keeping them out of her reach. So, yeah, there's that.

Ruby: Her. You mean Salem?

Qrow: That's right. Not much is known about her and quite frankly, that's not what matters. What matters right now is that she wants the relics, and if she gets them, it's not going to end well.

There was a moment of silence for a second, until Jaune spoke.

Jaune: Alright. So, let's say we believe all of this. There really is this crazy evil being behind these attacks, not just some thugs trying to become powerful. Why doesn't the world know? Why isn't Atlas going after them, or Mistral?

Nora: And why aren't we in more of a hurry to get to Haven? Shouldn't we be getting them a message? What if they're next?

Qrow: The headmaster over there saw what happened to Beacon. He's not dumb. He'll be on his guard. Besides, it takes time mobilize forces like that. Do you really think they planned out that attack on Beacon overnight?

Qrow points at Jaune to get his attention.

Qrow: And answer your question, it's the same reason we keep quiet about the Maidens. If the whole world knew about the relics, about Salem, there would be chaos. We'd have another Great War on our hands, and this time, you'd have to fight.

Jaune turns his head away from Qrow.

Qrow: Look, I had the same questions too. But ol' Ozpin always put his foot down. "We can't cause a panic." Heh, I can't tell you how many times I've heard that. Salem's smart. She works in the shadows, using others to get what she wants, so that when it comes to place the blame, we can only point at each other.

Qrow said while finishing his drink and looked up into the night sky.

Qrow: She's trying to divide us- humanity. So far, she's done a very damn good job.

Ruby: Alright. So what should we do?

There was a moment of silence for a second then Qrow spoke.

Qrow: Hehe, I don't really know. Ozpin has put a lot of trust in the headmasters. Like I said, schools are important part of stopping Salem. Atlas is going to be in high alert after the last attack, and Vacuo is... well, Vacuo. It'll be hard to hire thieves and scoundrels, to fight other thieves and scoundrels. Take that, add the fact that Cinder and her crew claim be from Haven, and I think it's likely the next target. So, we're on our way to the headmaster. Haven't heard from him in a while, even before the attack. I'm hoping he has the answers.

Qrow got up and put his flask away.

Qrow: Alright, I think it's time you kids get some sleep.

Ruby: Uncle Qrow?

Qrow: Yeah?

Ruby got up from her seat.

Ruby: This is a lot to take in, it all sounds crazy, but... I'm willing to do whatever I can to help, because I trust you. But why couldn't you trust me? Why couldn't you just travel with us instead of all this secrecy and, and--

Qrow: Look, this is has nothing to do with trust. I-- it's a long story, okay?

Nora: Seriously? Now you're tired if telling us stories?

Qrow took a second to speak.

Qrow: Did you know that crows are a sign of bad luck? Old superstition, but it's how I got my name.

Qrow crouched down to the fire and poked the one of the woods with a stick.

Qrow: See, some people can absorb electricity and some people can burst into rose petals and some people are just born unlucky. My semblance isn't like most. It's not exactly something I do. It's always there, wether I like it or not. I bring misfortune. I guess you can call me a bad luck charm. Comes in real handy when I fight on enemy, but it makes a little hard on friends... and family.

Jaune: Well, you are just a real bundle of help, aren't you?

Qrow: Yeah.

You: Jaune, that's enough.

Qrow then walks off into the forest.

Ren: Where are you going?

Qrow: Taking a walk.

Ruby: There's nothing else you want to tell us?

I heard a raven caw, and Qrow looks at it.

Qrow: Not tonight.

After he finishes he left to go for a walk in the forest, then a fire wood fell from campfire. Ruby then looks at Qrow walking away in a sad look.

You: He'll be alright. Come on, we should get some sleep.

I got up from my seat and grunted in pain a little.

You: Ugh, this hurts.

Ruby: Don't worry, it will be better in the morning.

You: I hope so.

I went to my bag and set up my sleeping bag and lie down and closed my eyes to get some sleep.

(Timeskip): Dawn

I heard the birds chirping when the sun came out. I opened my eyes to get ready for another long day of walking, and got up from my sleeping bag.

Ren: *sighs* We should probably get moving.

Jaune: Yeah, yeah.

The others started to get up from their sleeping bags and Qrow started to wake up from a tree he was sleeping on. I got to my feet and get ready to head out, but then I felt something inside of me. I began to cough and cough again. I kept on coughing and went on my knees and kept on coughing.

Ruby: Y/n!

Ruby and the others started to come to me to help me. I was holding my bandaged with my right hand. I removed the bandaged wound on me and saw purple liquid that was covering my right hand and my bandaged wound was covered in purple liquid as well. Ruby gasps in shock from the condition that I'm in right now.

You: R-Ruby?

I said while closed my eyes and fell on the ground unconscious.

Ruby POV

I just saw Y/n's wound from his bandage.

Y/n: R-Ruby?

He said those last words before he hit the ground with his eyes closed unconscious.

Ruby: Y/n, no!

I went up to him to try to get him up.

Ruby: Come on get up, get up! Y/n come on you can't die like this! You gotta get up! Y/n?!

To be continued.
