Marco's POV

"I love you"  I told Star.

As if like an instinct, I held her hand.

"I really love you" I looked at her eyes.

"I love you too" she smiled at me. Hugged me tight and rested her neck on my shoulder.

"You do?" I pulled away from her.

"I do" She giggled as she went close to my face. I lean in.

And then-

"That was a great practice Marco! Wow, you're really getting good at acting. I actually thought you meant it but then I realized- 'Heyyyy this is a part for the play' and so I played along! That was great Marco, we should do that more often, like randomly saying words from the play and then end uo practicing" She smiled.

"Yeah.. practicing! He he... of course. I didn't mean that or anything" I laughed nervously.

At least I know to myself I love her.

"Marco, thanks for always being here for me. It really means a lot. You're very special to me" she said as she rested her head on my shoulder.

Gonna get a little weird, it's gonna get a little wild, I ain't from round here. I'm from anoth-

"Hello?" Star answered her phone.

"Oh heeeyyy Daniel! How are ya' buddy? You still sick?" She moved away and talked to him.

They were talking for 30 minutes.

If this guy is really sick, he shouldn't be resting! Not talking to Star. I should be the only one talking to her that long.

"I'll be at my room" I started to climb down to my room's window.

It's been hours. Everyone's asleep. And she and Daniel are still talking! I can't take this anymore! They won't let me sleep! Argh! Curse that darn Daniel and his fancy white Vans!

I tried to sleep and succeeded.

The next morning

I woke up.

I felt something soft between my palm.

I squished it a bit. My eyesight still blurry from the morning rays.

I squushed it again. I heard a muffled voice.

I squished it once more.

"nngghh stoooppppp"

I blinked my eyes and saw Star beside me.

I looked at my hand.

...

I was grabbing.......

.....

Star's cheeks.

"Marco what are you doing?" I moved my hand away. "Sorry! I thought your cheeks were my pillow!" I stood up and got off my bed.

"Sorry I slept here last night, I slept at 3:00 am"

"Well be better get ready for school. And we did our daily routine.

When we arrived at school, Jackie approached me. She told something about ice skating. So I said "Sure". I've always wanted to try ice skating.

"This Saturday, 11:45. Sounds good?"

"Yeah see you there" I smiled

"Oh yeah here's my number, just in case. 0xxx-xxx-xxxx" she told me her number and saved it on my phone.

"Great, see you there" I smiled.

"Yeah, see you around Marco" she said. She kissed me on the cheek quickly and boarded to God knows where. I held my cheek.

"Woah" was all I could say.

I looked at my phone.

I'm actually going on a date.

Star's POV

Did Jackie just give Marco her number?

"Hey Marco, you seem to space out every now and then. Are you okay?" I smiled a bit.

"Yeah just thinking" He smiled like a goof.

"It's about Jackie isn't it?" I faked a smile.

"What? Where did that come from?" He had a light blush on his face.

Does he like her. For real this time?

"Nothing. Nevermind" I went back to my seat.

Why do I feel so protective of Marco now?

Things seemed off these days.

And I still wonder why.
