008, cupids chokehold

XANA WAS sat alone, her legs held close to her chest as her hair blew in the wind. Not to far away, everyone was still dancing and singing. Xana had ran out of the energy to socialise quickly, the girl slipping away when Tsireya wasn't looking. "Xana?" Aonung spoke from beside her as she looked up, meeting eyes with the boy. "Yes."

"Can i sit?" Xana nodded, watching as he sat down beside her. "Are you okay?" He asked. One of the many things he noticed about Xana was that she could go from happy to quiet within a few seconds. She seemed to prefer her own company than others. "Yes." Xana looked back over to him, meeting eyes with the boy. Her breath rigged as her eyes wandered down to his lips. She tried to pull her eyes away from them, but she couldn't. And neither could he.

His hand slowly made its way up to her face, placing the hair that had fallen over her face behind her ear. He was hopeless when around her. She endlessly plagued his mind. "Can I kiss you?" He whispered as Xana slowly nodded. The minute their lips touched, it sounded as though the world went quiet. The only sounds to be heard were the waves close by to them.

Aonung was the first to pull away, his mind racing. "Xana i'm sorry I should not have done that— I have to go, i'm sorry." Xana was confused as she watched him practically run away.

Tears filled her eyes as she stood up herself, slowly walking back to her mauri. She placed a hand over her mouth to stop a sob from breaking out. Xana wanted the ground to swallow her up as she walked into the mauri, being met with Neteyam. He looked up, his eyebrows furrowing as he noticed the tears in her eyes.

"What happened? Xana!" Neteyam shouted after his sister, watching as she disappeared behind the divider from the front of the mauri to where the sleeping space was. He sighed, but left her to it. If there was one thing you shouldn't do when Xana was angry or upset, was to pester her to tell you.

Over the next few days, Xana and Aonung didn't speak or even look in eachothers directions. Everyone noticed the sudden awkwardness and tension between the pair. Especially Rotxo.

"But why would you kiss her if you don't like her?" Rotxo had been trying to understand Aonung's point for the last hour. But they seemed to just be going around in circles. "Because I can." Aonung plainly replied, noticing Rotxo had stopped walking. Aonung stopped and turned around, meeting eyes with his bestfriend.

"Why do you have to make everything so hard for yourself? Why wont you allow one good thing for yourself? Xana is good for you. She makes you happy. It is so clear how you feel about her. But if you continue to treat her this way she will not want you. And she deserves a lot better." Rotxo honestly voiced, watching as his bestfriends face shifted through different emotions. Annoyance. Anger. Sadness. Realisation.

"I'm trying, Rotxo. I'm trying not to love her but i'm failing. I don't know how to love. I am of no use to her." He responded, walking away. But he didn't get far as he bumped into someone. A groan left the other person's body as they both looked up, meeting eyes. Aonung's kept his brave face on as he realised it was Xana. He was hurt at how disgusted she looked of him. She was quick to try and walk away, but Aonung didn't let her, grabbing her arm to stop her. Rotxo was right, he did need to do something for himself.

"Get off me." She seethed, slapping his hand away. "Xana please wait—" He began as she came close to his face, the anger flowing off of her. "No, you don't get to say that! What is wrong with you! You lead me on. Your a disgusting person, Aonung." Aonung's ears flattened as he began getting mad.

"You don't get it, Xana! I'm scared. I've never experience feelings like I am now. And I don't know what to do because I am so hopelessly in love with you but I can't let you close because I always loose every good thing in my life!" Xana was speechless. Her demeanour quickly changed as she relaxed, placing a hand on his face, forcing him to look at her. His eyes were purely full of love.

"But I wont leave you." Xana's voice was barley above a whisper. "I treated you so bad—" Xana cut the boy off. "I know you did, skxawng, but it's okay." Aonung's body relaxed as her pulled her in for a hug, kissing the top of her head.
