I'm sorry for making this the first next thing after we hit 3k views. Thank you very much for the huge number of views. But after a while being on Wattpad, this needs to be said.

This is sorta a semi-rant, and a warning to people who are into the Adoptables community on Wattpad.

There might be a little swearing, just warning you as well.

Please read everything throughly. I want you to be aware of these things or else you may accidentally be sued for adopting a stolen adopt.

...

PLEASE.

I SWEAR I'M GETTING SICK AND TIRED, OF FINDING ADOPTABLES ON WATTPAD THAT HAVE BEEN STOLEN FROM THE INTERNET OR OTHER WEBSITES.

It's really easy to tell what's stolen and what's not on DeviantArt, but I even more sick of people FALLING for the stolen adopts, thinking they aren't stolen.

Most of the time, I don't say anything because I don't want my account to be blocked for a f*ck dumb reason as telling the adopters the Adopts were stolen. In the meantime I don't have a spare account to go around to inform people.

So most of the time I report the stolen adopts book quietly.

But now I've decided to point these things out to the book creator. To give them a chance to remove the stolen adopts and start making their own.

If my comment gets deleted, ignored, or if I'm blocked, it just means how cowardly of a child they are to not address the situation like an adult.

A lot of people do these types of books for fun, but how fun will it be if you were sued and fined $2000 for copyright infringement?

It's actually REALLY easy to find out what's STOLEN and what's ORIGINAL.

First off, when you find an Adoptables book, you should check out the creator's profile page first to see if there's an art book or not. If yes, take a look through it to see what their art style is like.
If it's a bunch of stolen art then report the book flatly don't even take a second moment to think. Art theft is a terrible way to start on the internet.

If there's no art book you can probably automatically assume that the Adopts were stolen. But don't get too hasty thinking this yet, you still haven't looked through the Adoptables.

With an idea of what a person's art style is like, it's easy to tell if they stole an adopt or not.

CONSISTENCY.

If the drawings of the Adopts are inconsistent in art style, design skill, photo quality, it's an automatic stolen adopts alert.

There's also signatures and watermarks.

Do the signatures and watermarks lead to someone else's profile/website page? Then these adopts are pretty obviously stolen. Art thieves don't take the time to even remove watermarks or signatures. If they do they need to punch themselves in the f*cking face.

Suspecting someone of Adopt/Art theft? Google search the images.

How many times do they show up in website links or in Google images?

If they're on Pinterest more than once they're likely stolen adopts. If they're on DeviantArt they're probably stolen. If they're from anywhere else: stolen stolen stolen. This doesn't count if the creator of these adopts had two or more social media accounts where they posted their adopts on both or all their accounts.

Date and time of publication too!

What if you find the adopt posted in two places but you're unsure which belongs to the right person?

Check the date and time of publication!! When was the book on Wattpad published? What about the Adopts on the other page? Surely it's somewhere.

Grammar and spelling? Overused cliche profile pages?

For some reason I find this really consistent in people who steal adopts. Their profile page is usually decorated with rainbow colors or edgy stuff and usually their books are inconsistent. Their spelling and grammar seem to lack coordination and often reads like they're spitting in someone's face.
These users are probably underaged kids or a troll who shouldn't be using Wattpad. Let them know of the consequences of stealing.

In all the books I found original created adopts, the grammar and spelling is pretty well done to perfect! Their profile page is not as 10-year-old child-like!

What if designs made by the person are crappy from the beginning but gradually get better nearer the new chapters? It most likely means they're improving. It's like developing your art style or technique at drawing poses and stuff.

If you can't draw well, oh, that's fine. Just don't be a d*** by stealing adopts and art off the internet. Just find free to use bases! There's many to find on DeviantArt! Of course, credit the artist who drew the base!

"But bases in art is art sin."

Oh it's this stereotype. Of course, I used to think like this until I put in a bit of research. It turns out bases are not actually so bad!

... Well it kinda depends on how they're used.

HOW TO IMPROVE ADOPTS AND ART

Do

Use bases to practice and reference anatomy!
I get anatomy is the hardest thing to master. Poses and stuff is difficult, and unique poses for each adopt is often difficult to accomplish as well.

Don't edit the line art to draw on it, that's not the proper way to use the base. If you just draw hair on the base, you're not learning anatomy.

Instead, trace the base while making the proper changes to suit your character.

References may not always be the easiest to use but it was always recommended by all artists out there.

I learned certain techniques to draw by tracing. Just don't claim the traced art as your own and ALWAYS credit the base creator even if you redrew the entire thing. You still used the base yes.

Use bases for Adoptables!
Drawing unique poses... Oh my god you don't get how difficult it is to do so when you're on a tight schedule. Often I try to do this but then after a while it just gets vERY tiring.

Bases, well, you'd still need to credit the base creator. Or you can draw line art for yourself to use in the future. Either way works.

Bases are best used for designs.
The anatomy is consistent and you don't need to redraw unique poses each time while keeping the anatomy accurate.

Adoptables are where you're making character designs, not art.

What's better than stolen adopts? Game maker adopts!
This is kinda stupid and I personally don't really find game maker adopts pretty unique or interesting.

But you do know, it's WAY better than stealing Adoptables off the internet.

Your creating a character design, not selling art.

If using a game maker, credit the game maker appropriately and tell your audience that you are giving them the character design not the art.

Don't get yourself sued. :/
If you don't tell your audience properly someone will think your stealing from the game maker to make profit which is still copyright.

Don't know how to design?
It's totally fine if you have ZERO experience in designing! It's pretty simple.

Realistic Designs: Google Search real life animals and references

Clothing Designs: Look up clothing on the internet or just have a really good taste in fashion.

Fictional Designs: You can still look at design references, but his is where you use your imagination! Go wild!

Anything else Designs: Be creative!

It's just creating a character that you'll let someone else use. Wanna make something you know someone else would like? Design something you'll use yourself! (With the risk of falling in love with it)

If you find a design your referencing you love, don't copy it detail for detail. Let's say you find a cute girl character that you really like the design of. Just take out a few details, let's say her hair style and design your adopt with the same hair style. For your design's clothing, try something not similar to the reference to make your design the most unique!

Don't

Steal adopts.
This is pretty obvious by itself.

Want to get sued $2000+? Go ahead, here's your ticket to wasting money and negative consequences in real life in the future.

Use a base without credit
It's really rude to the base creator if you don't credit them for the base. They wouldn't even make free to use bases if they knew they wouldn't get credit. Credit's here for more people to discover the the original creator's own works.

Wondering why I ask you to put "Fokkos are an open species by @LeafyKitsune"?
It's to help more people to discover the small species.

Steal adopts and put "credit to whoever made them" somewhere in the rules page, description, or on the art itself.
This is still a very jerky action. Not only as this is an act of art theft, this is also admitting that they haven't even made the Adoptables themselves and proper credit WAS NOT given. "Credit to whoever made them" is plain and vague and no one will be able to discover the creator.

As this is still admitting these adopts were not made by them, they can still get sued for copyright infringement.

Fall for stolen adopts
After reading this all, I would stare at you with the most unsatisfied expression if you continue to Adopt stolen adopts.

With the clues you need to look for, you gotta play Detective especially on Wattpad.

Since most things are given away for free there's a high chance of stolen things being given away. What's more, stolen adopts being given away and the thief making profit of some sort off of it.
(Whether it be more people tagged to discover the stolen adopts or dA Points or rarely, real money)

---

Please spread awareness and be careful yourself around stolen adopts. Point it out to creators and the people adopting. TELL THEM. DON'T BE AFRAID, YOU'VE GOT ME WITH YOU. THIS IS FOR A GOOD CAUSE. STEALING IS A BAD THING.

I want Wattpad's stolen adopts to stop. It really disrespects the original creator.

If you want to discuss or add things onto this topic, please discuss it in the comments like a mature adult. I don't wish to deal with immature children like art thieves. Thank you.
