"Baby, tu thik hai? Shehnaaz! Shehnaaz?" Sidharth shook her as she sat still in her seat with her eyes wide open, she was in a state of shock.

"Baba, bol kuch." He unbuckled their seat belts and pulled her closer to him.

"Ha? Mai thik hu, tu? Tujhe kuch hua toh nahi?" She panicked as soon as she gained her senses in his warmth.

"Lagi tujhe?" She asked and he shook his head in response.

"Nahi, I'm okay. I'm fine. Tu thik hai na?" He replied.

Before she could answer, they heard a loud and harsh crash, so loud that they almost flinched at their places. Upon turning back, they found the truck had crashed into the divider on the road and rolled into its side.

"Oh my God!" Her voice quivered and she got goosebumps all over her body. What if the truck would have hit them? What if it would have been as bad as it hit the divider? It would have been a terrible accident.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a call, it was his mother calling them.

"Ha Mom?" He took a deep breath and answered the phone.

"Kaha ho tum dono? Jaldi ghar aao beta, kal shaadi hai. Thoda rest bhi karna padega na, kal poora din tum dono ko time nahi milega!" Rita ji said, it was almost midnight and everybody needed to rest well for tomorrow.

"Ha, aa rahe hai hai. Raste me hai." He replied and hung up.

"Shehnaaz.." he cupped his fiance's face and made her look at him, she was fighting her tears and looking so scared.

"Baby, we're alright. Thank God, kuch nahi hua. Hum thik hai, okay so calm down. Abhi hume ghar jana hai." He told her and she was still blank.

"Baba, we're safe. Kuch nahi hua. Okay?" He added and she shook her head.

"We're not okay! Hum Baal Baal bache hai Sidharth! Abhi kuch idhar ka udhar ho gaya hota toh hum nahi bachte!" She cried, visibly shaking. The sight of the truck against the road divider had disturbed her to no extent.

"I get it lekin hum-" he tried to explain to her that it was important to home in the first place and not tell their parents about this incident at any cost.

"Nahi! Nahi! Tujhe samajh aa rahi hai ke abhi yadi wo truck aur humari takkar ho jati toh kya hota?" She asked him and he nodded wiping her tears.

"Jaan ta hu kya hota, we could have died." He replied and rested his head against hers. His condition was no better, he was shaken and scared by the sight of the truck approaching them. He had never been this worried about anything else in his life because she was there with him as well. It was only for her that he was trying to put up better. brave and practical side to make feel safe.

"Lekin ghar pe sab humara wait kar rahe hai. Hume jana hoga. Please try to understand baby, that we need to get past this as soon as possible because we cannot afford to tell our family what just happened. Can we?" He asked her. And it took her a few seconds to realize and nod at what he was trying to do.

"Ghar pe nahi bata sakte kisi ko, sab ghabra jayenge." She mumbled and wiped her face clean with her hands to look okay.

"Come here." He whispered and pulled her into a tight hug. She wrapped her hands around him and held him as close as she could while he caressed her hair.

"Sab thik hai, ok?" He repeated for her as well as for himself before turning on the ignition and they went back home.

"Yeh koi tarika hai bina bataye ghar se bahar jane ka? Kal shaadi hai teri!?" Shehnaaz's Mami scolded her. Harjot only glared at the couple in front of them and let it go, guiding her niece to their room.

"Haaye, mai ta dar gi si. Mainu lagya ae phir toh na bhag gi!" Mami said as soon as they were in their room.

"Prableen! Ae ki boli ja rahi hai tu? Chup kar ja ab!" Harjot replied and looked at Shehnaaz, slightly confused with her quiet behaviour.

"Puttar, koi gal na. So ja ab tu. Thaki hui lag rahi hai." She told her niece and Shehnaaz slipped into the bed with that.

"Dar lag raha hai kal ke liye?" She chuckled to lighten up her mood while Mami stared at them.

"Hanji." Shehnaaz mumbled, hugging Harjot and trying to distract herself with anything. The image of the truck recklessly approaching them was still revolving around her eyes.

"Hota hai, tu sirf ye dekh kitne ache ghar me ja rahi hai tu. Bohot ache hai wo log." Harjot patted her niece's head and replied.

The other day, Sidharth was getting ready in his room while Ajay and Naveen (Preeti and Neetu's husbands) were teasing him.

"Kitna chup chup hai aaj ye? Abhi se bolti band hai iski!" Naveen commented.

"Sid, bhai pait-vait clear hai na? Ek baar bahar jayega phir dobara andar aane ka time nahi milega." Ajay added and the trio laughed.

Only Sidharth knew how hard it was to hide about the truck accident from them, he wasn't able to sleep last night at all with all the stress. He regretted taking Shehnaaz out with him last night, he regretted being careless while driving, he regretted not being able to make her feel safe, he regretted not staying with her for a little longer and he regretted that he asked her to behave like nothing had happened. He was not being himself and it was evident by the look on his face.

"Mera baccha, kitna acha lag raha hai. I'm so happy for you!" Rita ji caressed his face and complimented him.

He was dressed in a peach shaded embroidered kurta pajama and a stole loosely wrapped around. He smiled and hugged her, it helped a lot with his mood and he settled down on the mandap when the priest asked him to.

Soon Shehnaaz arrived, dressed in her bridal lehenga that was slightly pinkish peach in colour. Subtle makeup and light jewelleries made her look so elegant for the day. She was glowing, she looked so mesmerizing and breath taking that he felt so lucky to be the one marrying this eternal beauty.

"Tu thik hai?" He asked, taking a hold of her hand and intervening their fingers.

"Han, tu?" She asked him as well.

"Hm." He replied, smiling at her. However their smiles didn't reach their eyes, they were still occupied with last night's accident.

The priest kept them busy with the rituals as they exchanged garlands, sat down infront of the holy fire and listened to him chanting mantras. He tied the nuptial chain around her neck and then filled the hair partition on her forehead with kumkum. A tint of kumkum fell on her nose, he was about to wipe it when Harjot stopped him.

"Rehne do puttar, shubh hota hai." Chachi said.

Everybody was in awe of the couple getting married, especially their family members who knew how much of struggle the two had been through to come to this point today.

Sidharth being someone who had no hopes of getting married after his ex- girlfriend had dumped him had immersed himself into work to just pretend to be busy enough and Shehnaaz was trying her best to live her life after her family had abandoned her, they had surely come a long way to be getting married together today.

They stood up to walk around the holy fire, hand in hand, they did as told while promising each other to stick through every thick and thin, good and bad. Once done with the mains, the priest announced them officially married. Not being able to keep his hands to himself, he hugged her tight and she did the same.

"We just got married!" She exclaimed and kissed him on his cheeks excitedly.

"Sana!" Harjot gasped, covering her face in embarrassment while the rest of the family chuckled.

They took turns to take blessings from each and every family member. "Vaise toh tu humari family tabhi ho gayi thi jab Sidharth ne tujhe humse milaya tha. Bas officially stamp lag gaya ab. Shaadi kisi fairytale jaisi toh nahi hoti, lekin apne pyaar bharosa karke aur usey apni taqat bana ke har mushkil par ki ja sakti hai. Ek dusre ke paas rehne se zyada zaroori hai, ek dusre ka sath humesha dena." Rita ji said, caressing their faces before hugging them.

Then Harjot hugged her niece before bursting into tears. "Arey Chachi? Aap kyu rone lagi? Meri bidaai thodi ho rahi hai." Shehnaaz asked.

"Tu itni badi ho gayi? Vishwas nahi ho raha.." Harjot replied.

"Itna bura hu mai jo aap rone lagi?" Sidharth commented to lighten up her mood.

"Chup kar! Iss din ka sabse zyada maine intezar kiya tha! Bohot khush hu mai aaj! Sana tu thodi samajhdaari se kaam lena Sidharth ki tarah aur puttar tu dil me jo bhi bol diya kar Sana ke tarah. Ek dusre se jitna seekhi, utni zindagi asaan ho jati hai. Bas humesha khush raho." Harjot said.
