Johnathon Hotchner the younger brother to Aaron, and the youngest Hotchner sibling had the highest IQ in his family even higher than his profiler brother. Graduating high school when he was just 15 he went to college to train to be lawyer like his brother and father but he never felt content in that career field.

So aged 20 he decided to take the leap applying for the academy not expecting to be put into the BAU the unit his brother ran which annoyed Aaron because he didn't want to be in charge of his brother. However Jace didn't let it stop him, when he joined the unit all the other agents seemed apprehensive of him so he kept his distance for a while apart from one agent Emily Prentis.
