10 Years Later

Kirstie snapped to attention at her desk with clicking fingers in her face.
     "Um, don't let Boss-man catch you again Kirst, shit," Taylor Reece then proceeded to sit on Kirstie's desk to file her nails.
     "Well Boss-man's certainly gonna catch you," Kirstie retorts as she gets back to work.
     "That's because the creep can smell a blonde from a mile away," she rolled her eyes.
     "Damn near fired me when I went back to black," Kirstie tapped away at her keys.
     Taylor picked up some of Kirstie's hair and leant back to hold it up to her face, "Maybe I should go black, what do you think Jessica?"
     The girl at the desk across from them looked up. "Hmm, maybe brunette?"
     Taylor sat up, "Fair. Anyway, I want to get caught, I want to be back here, I'm tired of sitting next to Jerkemy. Every time I look at his smug face I want to hit it," her fist connected with her palm.
     Kirstie sighed, "It was a mutual break-up, you know that."
     "You cried in my arms for two weeks; no one does that to my best friend and gets away with it."
     "I second that," Jessica's hand went up.
     Kirstie rolled her eyes, "Can we just get back to work please?"
     "Mm-kay, I'll do that if you call me in front of Jerkemy with the deets about your date last night," her eyebrows wiggled seductively.
     Kirstie dropped her head into her hands, "Oh my God," she mumbled into her hands.
     Taylor stood up, "If you don't call me, I'm gonna pretend you are, and Jerkemy's gonna think you've slept with half a dozen guys since."
     "I'll ring you and he'll know it's a faux call," Jessica teased.
     "My phone's on silent bitch!" She danced away from their desks with her tongue out, then motioned for Kirstie to call her before she sat at her desk.
     Kirstie obliged.

A/N: So... now we're into the bit where most of the story actually takes place... fun right :)
