Kirstie loved sharing the hotel room at the resort with Avi, it was like a taste of living together, but more fun. They weren't living together, yet. Avi moved to Texas, with very little fuss (his father too), but he rented his own place. Kirstie had to admit she was a little relieved, she had been worried that it might be too much too soon, even with their baby on the way. It was almost like real dating, like they were a normal couple just getting to know each other, it was fun.
Kirstie told her mom about the whole situation just before Avi moved, she remembered her mom's display of mixed emotions vividly.
Angelica jumped from her seat, "I'm gonna be a grandma! Ooo, no is grandma too old sounding... Abuela? Or not because my mom is your Abuela," she pointed to Kirstie. "It's okay, I've got time, I'll think about my name," she pulled Kirstie in for a warm hug. "So who's the guy and when's the wedding?" She held her daughter at arm's length.
     "Mom!" Kirstie's eyes are wide.
"Look honey, I'm not assuming since you told me you were bi a few years ago, but you're knocked up by a man because you can't afford to be knocked up by a woman, that doesn't happen by accident and it's not cheap."
Kirstie's mouth hung open, she had no response to that.
"I suppose we don't need a wedding, you're a modern woman," she sighed. "But I need to know about the man. Why haven't I met him?" She sat back down.
Kirstie sat too, but she couldn't form an answer, her mom's questions were coming thick and fast.
"How far along are you? When did you get pregnant? How long have you been seeing this guy? Is he going to be a part of the baby's life? The baby's not Jeremy's, right? The best thing you did was end things with him, unless he's the baby's father, in which case I suppose I can learn to get along with him. What about the baby? How long have you known? How long have you kept this from me? Do we know if they're a boy or a girl? Oh wait, I remember you saying something about a Ben, is the baby his? Oh-"
"Mom! Please stop. Clearly I'm not answering, so stop asking!" Kirstie instantly felt bad for yelling, but how else was she gonna get her to stop?
"Honey, I want to know everything-"
"But somethings you don't need to know, like when," she clasped her hands in her lap.
"You are correct, I did get carried away, who? Who is the father of my grandbaby?" She asked calmly. "And is baby a boy or girl?" She snuck in the second question.
     "Mom," Kirstie warned.
"Just those two I need to know." She sat sheepishly like a child being told off.
"His name is Avi, you don't know him, sort of, but I've known him for a long time, sort of. And baby is a boy."
"Grandson!" Angelica leapt from her seat. "I didn't want to say but I was hoping for a boy."
"Mom, where was this energy when I would suggest exercise classes?"
"An exercise class is not my first grandchild." She elegantly sat back down. "Avi's a familiar name."
"I wondered if you might recognize it, that's why I said sort of. He's one of the boys from that summer at the resort."
It was Angelica's jaw that dropped this time, "Well I didn't know you'd kept contact with them."
Kirstie winced, "I didn't," she sighed, "It's a long story."
Angelica checked her watch, "Well we've got all day, I'll make us some tea, no coffee for you momma!"
     She groaned, "Don't remind me."

A/N: What do you think of Kirstie and Avi not living together yet?

Please vote and comment, it truly makes my day :)
