Sunshine awoke to feel the green dragonet being lifted off of her. After their wrestling match, they had flopped down to nap, one on top of the other. Sunshine was momentarily grateful for a hushed silence in the nest before she was hit by a tidal wave of thoughts and emotions. Opening her eyes, Sunshine sat up and saw the green dragonet dropped gently back into her own pen by her guardian. Behind her, Treefrog moved to copy the other guardians by pulling Sunshine close to him. Extending her conscience into the distance, Sunshine sensed a multitude of RainWings coming nearer, as well as a NightWing...

    Sunshine watched as the one who she guessed was Queen Glory went around to the different pens, one by one. The parents of the dragonets named their children and got to spend some time with them before they would be taken to the nursery.

    As this was a small group of hatchlings, it wasn't long before only Queen Glory and the NightWing arrived at Sunshine's pen. Sunshine could feel Treefrog quaking with nerves from behind her. Even though she wouldn't let it show on her scales, Sunshine could tell that Queen Glory was tired and frustrated with the parents. From what she saw, Sunshine would agree that the parents were annoying.

    After Treefrog and Queen Glory exchanged pleasantries, the queen turned to face Sunshine. After looking her over, she said, "As an orphan, I presume you already have a name?"

    "Yes, Your Majesty," Sunshine replied politely. "My name is Sunshine."

    Queen Glory nodded, clearly impressed. After an uncomfortable silence, Queen Glory finally broke and said, "All right, I'll say it. I can't stand this. I was raised never knowing my parents by guardians who hated me and I would never wish that on another dragonet." She paused to take a breath, then, "Sunshine, I am adopting you."
