Using her wings and the confined space to slow her fall, Sunshine made her way to the bottom of her tunnel. She was relieved when the leaves and vines cushioned her fall, so she only got a few hidden bruises. The problem, as Sunshine discovered, was what to do now that she was down there. Soon, it would be obvious she was missing. Eventually, her tunnel would be found. Besides, there was no food or water down in the tunnel, even though Sunshine didn't need much of either.

    After a few minutes of contemplation, Sunshine came to a decision. Clambering achingly to her feet, she began to burn a hole through a weak spot in the tunnel with her fire.

    Time passed. Seconds, minutes, hours, Sunshine never knew. It must not have been long, for no one realized she was missing. Once the hole had been both burned and dug big enough for Sunshine to get through, she climbed through it.

    Sunshine stretched in the thick foliage around the nursery. Reaching out with her mind, she realized gratefully that the nursery was not in the thick of the RainWing village. Rather, it was on the outskirts. After internally debating what she would do from here, Sunshine reached out with her mind again, this time looking for Queen Glory. Finding a crowd of RainWings, Sunshine dove into their midst, still searching. Finally, she came across the NightWing that had been with Queen Glory. By doing a brief scan of his current thoughts, Sunshine learned that he was Queen Glory's guard. At least in his mind, he was. Honestly, it wasn't hard. Every few seconds he thought of something concerning Queen Glory's safety, wellbeing, feelings, other's opinions of her, and, well, his own feelings for her. Sunshine shook her head to push out the thought. Fixing her internal compass on the NightWing, whose name she learned was Deathbringer, she began to run towards him and Glory.
