**Request for XDaisy123 where Peter's school gets a new addition to the gym, and he's roped into a dare that goes wrong. This one was so freaking fun, thank you again for the request!! I wasn't sure if you wanted something more lighthearted and cute, or if you were okay with some mean Flash, but I hope you like it! Enjoy!**

Midtown Technical High School was small, squished in between a couple office buildings and backed up to a field barely big enough for a good game of football. It was stacked up on itself, a second floor housing a modest library and the English and math rooms.

Of course, being a school of nerds, Midtown didn't exactly prioritize sports. Flash was occasionally enthusiastic about soccer and football, but for the most part, people disliked P.E. This made the remodeling of the gym perplexing at best, since Midtown still used textbooks from nearly 2 decades ago and most of the the science rooms needed more microscopes and new beakers.

Peter trudged towards the new gym, dread pitting in his stomach. The few weeks it had taken to remodel the gym had been a sweet reprieve, as it meant every student missed gym until building was finished.

"Ready?" Ned asked, catching up with his friend. "I don't know what they did, exactly, it's not like the gym is any bigger now."

Peter snorted. "I know. I bet it was just new lights and new carpet-padding stuff on the walls."

"It could be new basketball hoops or something dumb like that."

The two made their way into the locker room, talking in low tones about Peter's most recent patrol and the newest episode of a Netflix original show they had been binging together. There was technically 10 minutes to change, but it wasn't like they ever took longer than 5. No one liked changing clothes around others, especially not the two nerdiest kids in high school.

They went across the hall and pushed open the heavy doors. The floors were the same, chipped wax and splintering wood planks. The walls were the same, too, the same musty padding and peeling paint. In fact, it didn't look like anything had changed, except for a huge hanging curtain on the back wall, from ceiling to floor.

There were a few minutes until everyone was in the gym, and then the coach came in and blew a whistle.

"Alright, class! We're gonna be playing with a new toy today. Flash, can you hit the green button by the door?"

The class bully jogged over to the door and pressed a small green button by the light switch. A dull, mechanical whirring echoed through the room. The dark curtain at the back of the gym raised slowly, revealing a new wall.

"So that's what they remodeled," Ned murmured.

There was a huge rock climbing wall, the "rocks" getting more and more scared at the top.

"It's designed to challenge you the higher you get," the coach explained. "Let's get some competition going, guys."

Peter and Ned shared uneasy looks. It was never good when Peter got too close to climbing at school. When they'd done the ropes last month, Peter had to fake sick, and then pretend to be too weak to get 5 feet off the ground.

"Now, lets-"

The PA sparked to life, interrupting the coach. "Mr. Hook to the main office, Hook to the main."

The coach looked up for a second before looking back at the students. "I'll be right back, don't get up on the rock wall without me. We need to bring mats out when I get back."

The coach ran off, and everyone sort of milled around and grouped up to make small talk. Peter turned to Ned, opening his mouth to start talking about the math test coming up when-

"Hey, Parker!" Flash's voice suddenly rang out over the muffled conversations.

Peter sighed. "Yes, Flash?"

"Scared about the wall? We all know how weak you are. I bet you can't even climb past the first 10 feet." Flash's goons laughed, as did some of the other students.

The bully pushed his way past some of the other kids to get to Peter and Ned, shoving the skinny teen to the ground. "You're pathetic, Parker. Its no wonder everyone around you dies. You know, I did a little digging. Found out you're the reason your uncle died. Found out you couldn't even stop the guy from shooting him."

At that, Peter broke. He hated how Flash could pick out the one thing he hated most about himself and bring it to life. There was no escaping this, here, now. When he was at home, or at the Tower, he could talk to May or Tony, or even one of the other Avengers, when he started feeling down or when nightmares kept him up. Here, he was on his own.

"Aw," Flash taunted. "Are you going to cry?"

"Leave him alone," Ned said confidently. "What kind of a person says stuff like that about someone's dead uncle?"

Flash smirked. "I didn't kill anyone, I don't have anything to be ashamed of."

Peter tried to keep his emotions in check. He couldn't cry. He couldn't give Flash that satisfaction.

"You bet I can't make it 10 feet?"

Flash and Ned both looked down, surprised at how stable Peter's voice was holding.

"Yeah, what about it? You wanna try to prove me wrong?"

Peter nodded. "I do."

Ned's eyes widened. "Peter, don't."

Flash just laughed and pushed Ned back. "Let the idiot give it a go. He'll only embarrass himself."

The two boys went over to the wall, each one putting one hand up before looking at one another. "Scared, Parker?"

"You wish."

"Go!" One of Flash's friends, some kid named Darren, called out.

Flash found a good hand hold and pushed his way up, but Peter was already at least 5 feet above him, not even bothering to keep his super strength and stickiness in check.

The smaller teen launched himself from one hand hold to the next, his muscles straining and his spider instincts taking over. He didn't look down, he didn't look around.

Flash, who had been staring up at the other boy, his mouth hanging open, was frozen where he was. The entire class, actually was standing and staring, no one daring to make a noise. Ned, of course, had a little smirk on his face.

"Parker!" Everyone turned as the coach came back into the room and shouted towards the teen, who was almost at the top of the wall.

Peter, caught off guard and unthinking, stopped climbing and put his hand to the wall, letting his stickiness hold him in place.

"Get down here this instant!" The coach's voice was laced with anger, and Peter immediately shrunk back into himself.

Without looking, the teen climbed down the wall, never once touching a stone, his hands and toes gracefully danced across the surface.

When he reached the ground again, he brushed off chalk and dust on his shorts, then looked up at his class, who stood with their mouths hanging open and shock plastered over their faces.

"Par-Parker. You- you- you..." The coach trailed off, and Peter looked at Ned in confusion.

"You didn't use the rocks, man, you just climbed." Peter just cocked his head to the side, still not understanding what his friend meant.

"Like a spider."

At that, Peter's face burned red and he looked down at his hands. "Oh."

"Parker is Spiderman." Abe whispered, his voice barely audible. Then, louder, "You're Spiderman."

Peter shook his head and raised his hands in defense. "No, no, I'm just- just plain ol- old Peter Parker."

"You could have kicked Flash's ass years ago!" It was like Abe hadn't heard anything Peter had said.

Suddenly, the whole class was swarming Peter for answered. Some wanted to feel his hands, to see if they would feel the stick, others wanted to ask him about crime fighting and his other powers.

"I- I- I-" Peter stuttered, his eyes jumping from person to person. Ned caught his attention and smiled.

Be you, the boy mouthed. Be proud.

Peter smiled, a moment of calm washing over him.

"I'm Spiderman, and I can climb walls really, really well."
