Jessica Jordan- Mortal

Jessica was not in the mood for the bring-your-moody-teenage-daughter-to-work-day. But she got the feeling something was about to happen that would change the world forever.

Everybody wished she wasn't so right about that.

She glanced at her father who she noticed seemed to be more jumpy than usual and was muttering under his breath. He was gripping the steering wheel a little tighter than normal and started straight ahead at the empty highway they were speeding down. The only sound in the car were the jangling of the keys that swung against the mini keychain Jessica had gave her dad a year or two ago.

It was an "I love the Empire State Building" key chain.

The irony is that she had got it at the same place her dad worked security at the front desk, the Empire State Building.

She sighed looking out across the hills that she had passed everyday, two times a day. Once in the morning on her way to school, then again in the afternoon on her way home.

But this time was different.

"Dad! There's a Dragon around that Pine tree!"

The car screeched to a stop sending Jessica nearly gliding through the windshield.

"Jessica? You can see it?" her dad asked warily.

She did another look at the Dragon just to make sure. "Yeah....can't you? doesn't everyone?"

Immediately her dad reached for his phone frantically dialing a number. "Let's hope not." He muttered.

"Dad what's going on?" Jessica asked, slightly scared of her father's reaction.

He didn't answer.

"Lord Hermes, it's happened." He said, instead into the phone. "The Mist. It's gone."

Just so you know this isn't going to be an OC story. Jessica may appear again, but the story is not about her.
